This tweak is exactly what I've been waiting for!!!! I knew it would happen, I just thought Blutrol would do it first. So far, this works amazingly well!
For those interested, my complete archive of all known MFi controller compatible games is now live: Almost every game has been tested with both the Standard and Extended layout controllers, and compatibility information has been posted. Based on my testing, the PS3 controller matches the compatibility of the Extended layout controllers
Another link here for the OP to look at, and add to the main list in this thread. Link: http://www.reddit.com/r/iosgaming/comments/1tv84f/giant_list_of_games_compatible_with_made_for/
Well, looks like they don't want me to post my list here, so hopefully the original poster will update his list. Seems rather odd, I wasn't trying to break any rules, but no matter. As for that reddit link (that hasn't been deleted for some reason), I'm pretty sure they just got their list from this thread. I don't see a single game there that isn't also listed here
This is what I was waiting for. Jailbreaking now! Edit: Apart from Battle Supremacy (You can't move at all) and Phoenix HD (Directional axis are reversed), everything seems to be working!
Now everyone can see just how silly Apple is being with these MFi controllers. No special chips and no special buttons needed. Another plus is that developers won't have to buy $100 piece of crap controller to test their games with. Just a $2 app and a DuslShock 3 that they probably already have. I would love to see support for the WiiU Pro controller, as the DualShock's layout is inferior to the WiiU Pro layout in my opinion. The only problem being there are no analog triggers on the WiiU Pro....
I made a gameklip for the ps3 controller following this guys guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177501 I used - 1x PC Case Expansion Card slot bracket (cover) - pliers - electrical tape - extra case (I taped the cover to the bracket instead of glue) credit to Glen L at xda forums.
My pal did this a while back with lego/kinex on for his Android. - He used a OTG cable to hook it all up nicely.
problem is though as with every other jailbreak release, you are typically quickly hit with a crossroads moment where you either got to pick the new os update/upgrade or continue jailbroken on older software. Not to mention, ios 7 is buggy enuf as it is(my iPhone 5s crashes to homescreen more then it should), add in the instability of a jailbreak and the inevitable performance hit of a jailbreak too, not sure it's worth it for myself. Very cool tweak though. Over the years apple software upgrades have negated a lot of the cool stuff that made jailbreaking worth it but nice to see there is still innovations out there being made. Think i'll hold out for and pay the premium for the stratus. My moga is wasting away, too much of a pain to take phone out of my case and swap it over not to mention, not being able to use it on my retina mini.
I totally agree with you man. I have a mophie case which requires the lightning port, and it scares me to keep removing the case to always plug in my moga controller.
It's really not bad! While I'm generally not much a fan of jailbreaking these days, I definitely get it here. This is NOT something where I would recommend anyone who doesn't have a PS3 controller and isn't jailbroken to go jailbreak and buy a controller - I think you'd be better served by an existing MFi controller - but I think of you've got a PS3 controller already, this is tempting
Thanks guys. I was about to buy a ps3 controller but then someone wrote that a lot of games were not working with it. Its one of the comments in the article that touch arcade has posted up about this ps3 on ios controller.
If you look carefully at that comment you'll see that the games that are mentionned are not, for the most part, MFI compatible so they won't work with the dualshock controller or any other controller.
I've tested a considerable amount of games, and I've found that anything compatible with the Extended layout controller works fine with the PS3 controller. Again, haven't tested everything with the DS3, but no incompatibilities so far.
