Strange, saw this is the asphalt 8 thread http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=3062892&posted=1#post3062892 So some games only support certain ios 7 sticks? I thought ios 7 joystick support was supposed to be a standard for all joysticks.
I am actually collecting games for when I get the moga, not got it yet. But it's in the house somewhere stashed till Christmas! Storm raiders is in landscape? It's the world war 2 fighter plane one. I think the screen controls and tilt sensor were poor, so I'm hoping it's better with controller.
Analog vs. digital buttons, from what I understand. The buttons can be either one. Some games haven't been tuned for analog inputs. That's why some games are getting subsequent updates like "full iOS 7 controller support", "support for controllers with analog sticks", "support for MOGA". What they mean is they're adding/correcting event handlers for the analog inputs where previously they may not have had any, or had the wrong values--that would seem to explain Asphalt's complete lack of response to any of the controls. I don't know how the data looks in reality, but I imagine the app is looking for a 1 "pressed" or a 0 "released", and the analog input as on the MOGA ends up somewhere in between, say 0.6 just after the "click" and maybe 0.95 as hard as you can press it. If it's truncated, the game will never see it register a full-on 1. Edit: short update after having played a few more days. It feels like the analog stick is already wearing out. If I let go of the stick it sometimes comes to rest in a slightly downward position, so my game character is moving down a bit. Also, really wish I could charge the controller and the iPhone and still play at the same time.
If I knew how to mod controllers, then I'd just Frankenstein the board out of that MOGA, and hardwire it into an xbox 360 controller. Now, if only it had Bluetooth, my dream would be complete! Where is that Ben Heck guy? Was that his name? That wizard of a modder!! We need you! LOL
http://benheck.com/ I watch his podcast a lot. Doesn't sound like too bad an idea. Shoot him an email and find out. Hell, shoot MOGA an email with your thoughts. Don't know if they read this forum or what, but I bet somebody at MOGA is reading emails.
Seriously you can't charge the moga and phone and play? Can you charge the moga and play? Seems an oversight to me!! Also how long have you been using the moga for it to feel like it's wearing out?

Having fun with my moga with my note 3 playing games like Asphalt 8, Raiden Legacy, NFS Most Wanted, DT2, Vitua Tennis, RType, Neon Shadow and others. Really like playing on a 5.7 inch screen with a moga, sure wish apple would have made a big iphone, then I could be using an ios 7 joystick. But wow, the size of screen with a phone joystick is pretty cool, makes me appreciate iphone joysticks more. Glad I got the moga free at E3, never expected to be using it, but now it is too cool. Now patiently waiting for a true xbox like joystick with dual analog sticks for my ipad. Hopefully it will come soon.
Shantae - Risky's Revenge just got controller support. This is a GREAT game. Ugh! This is getting harder every day!! BRING US IPAD CONTROLLERS!!!!!!!!! *also, Double Dragon Trilogy!!!!
Galaxy Run also now supports iOS7 Game Controller. Appstore: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/galaxy-run/id711398249?ls=1&mt=8
Dude this is great news, it's the game I'm most looking forward to playing when I get mine! Hated GTA touch screen controls!
Interesting question! It might be technically possible, but I don't think Apple would allow it. The iCade works by pretending to be a Bluetooth keyboard. The Bluetooth MFi gamepads use Apple's Game Controller API. I think all MFi Wireless gamepads use Bluetooth 4.0. AFAIK, many Bluetooth 4.0 don't support Bluetooth 2.1, which would be needed for keyboard support. Also, all MFi controllers must be certified by Apple. If a gamepad had an iCade mode, would Apple let it pass cert?
