Details coming courtesy of Pocket Gamer: Fishlabs' Galaxy on Fire 2 was one of the best performing indie iOS games of 2010, selling and reviewing very well despite its $9.99 price point. But it hasn't just sold well on iPhone and iPad. More recently, Fishlabs ported it over to Nokia's high-end range of smartphones such as the N8 - or what used to be called the Symbian^3 range. "We've done 200,000 downloads of Galaxy on Fire 2 for Symbian^3 devices," Fishlabs' CEO Michael Schade revealed at the Mobile Games Forum. And moving onto the future, he spoken briefly about the next game in the series. "It's no secret that Galaxy on Fire 3 will have MMO features," Schade said. We'll have to be patient however, as he said it would take at least a year of development work before the game would be ready to be released. So basically all that is known is that its in development, due out in 2012, and will have MMO "features"
Depends on what they are, I think. I agree that I don't want it to be an MMO, but if they added maybe instanced multiplayer or a global auction house for ship parts, that would be pretty awesome. Imagine playing the single-player, but finding an extremely rare item and trading it on a massive multiplayer auction house for another rare piece you want, or for tons of credits or other gear. That would add a really deep element that would keep people playing.
Personally I would like more story missions and I can do without the voice acting and just text to make it easier. MMO elements don't matter to me, unless they mean MMO-like elements for single player only, then maybe that could be neat. I would also like more updates for GoF 2 still too.
Yeah graal went totally the wrong way. But I on the other hand I wouldn't mind kinda what Pokemon Black and White are doing with part of the world being in a separate, multi-player environment, whether it be local or online, but also having a single-player campaign.
"We've done 200000 downloads of Galaxy on Fire 2 for Symbian^3 devices," great. how much price GlaxyonFire2 on Symbian^3 devices? usd$9.99?
Unfortunately, Pocketgamer mixed that up. We had 200k free DLs of Galaxy on Fire on Symbian^3 devices. Actually my fault, as I was talking about GOF1 on Symbian^3, GOF2 on iOS and our plans for GOF3 in general at MGF when I was asked what our plans of the series are. Anyway, we are extremely pleased that there IS an audience for deep sci-fi sims on mobile devices across various platforms and we will add a lot more content to GOF. Much appreciated if you share your wishes or concerns about future features. In any case, we will always have a compelling gameplay for single players even if we bring MMO gameplay to the series. Cheers, Michael
Well, one thing I can spill is that before GOF3 there will be another add-on of GOF2 and that won't be without Keith for sure But for now you should check-out Valkyrie if you haven't already!
Mmo If there is an MMO option it should be like GTA V and make it to where you can choose single player or multiplayer and on multiplayer it is still open world
