Well, the Wolf Reiser and Pan thing was a cheat that everyone was using with the organs, so of course it was deleted. I bought the HD version some months ago and I managed to buy the Mantis after some hours playing without buying any credits IAP. I can't see why you say that this game is now a FTP game. You know that there are a lot of ways to make fast money in the game.
My point is that beside this, I saw that when you buy something often, sell it often in the same place, the prices are adjusting a lot faster than before. And I didn't have time yet to explore a lot of stations, but I'm under the impression that ALL the prices have seen adjustments, in order to add length to the grinding. I don't play to grind, I play in order to have fun. I saw that the Loma station has high prices, so I'll buy some booster in order to avoid the pirates and the tax, but I'm really curious to know how you managed to make money fast, as trading seems really crippled.
You can still earn heaps of cash by trading, just takes longer. Before, it was basically, THE thing to earn cash from. Now people can go back to battles and looting, completing missions, or still trading. There are still profitable items which aren't organs, like turrets etc.
That's exactly my point. I typically don't like JRPG, freemium games, because I've got no interest in the grinding part of games. What I saw after a couple hours playing, is that it's (imho) a LOT longer to make cash, and in the same time, coincidence, they added IAP to get credits. I for sure haven't played long enough to be able to tell if there's no way of making money fast, but what I see doesn't please me. Did they improve the money you make in missions ?
I NEVER mine asteroids, I always destroy the cargo ships I find and I do some secondary missions. I only trade with the loot from other ships.
I have never done any trading at all. I own all the top ships and I have millions in surplus money, and it has all been earned through missions and random space battles, then selling the items I collect to space stations.
Yeah, I see what you're saying, but it was just TOO fast. In a single playing session of half an hour, a player could amass WELL over 50 million cash. With skill, into the 100 millions as well. That was just too game breaking, and had people sitting there trading rather than actually playing the game. IAP credits are pretty bad IMO. If you wanted to buy them, there is the option there, but otherwise it is absolutely not worth it. A few minutes could get you that amount.
I'll never spend money on credits IAP. I really hate this evolution of the appstore. But I'll stop trading, go back fighting and picking stuff from my crushed opponents, seems to work for the others. It's just I wanted to rant about this, because I payed for the game, payed for the extension, payed for the HD version, and when I go back to the game after a few months I see that there is evolutions in the game balance to push people toward IAP. I seriously don't think that all the changes that were made in the trading system were made to keep the game balanced, in fact I think it's the opposite. Correcting the Pan trading route is one thing, but as far as I can see all the prices were changed, and they change a lot faster than they did before when you buy/sell repeatedly the same products. Again, I didn't play long enough to have certainties about this, it's just my feeling after a few hours. Anyway, I'll stop ranting, but honestly I'm a bit disapointed. And sorry for the mistakes in the post, must be a lot since i tried to use too much "complex words" for my level in english. edit : for example, I tried to sell implants from Wolf Reiser to Loma. First trade, I buy 2 at 8200 at WR, sell at 9800 at Loma. Go back to WR, able to buy 3 implants, 8500 creds each, go back to Loma, 9500 sell price. With the tax, I barely made any money on this second run. That's really fast and strong changes, considering the amount of implants I sold...
I felt like playing it with the upcoming expansion because I never got around to playing the Valkyrie campaign. ...Only to discover that it's impossible to beat. I'm supposed to mine some asteroid while eight or nine infinitely respawning ships blast me EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN TIME. Why are they even working on a new expansion with this kind of bullshit left over? FIX YOUR ####ING GAME.
Use invisibility while you do your mining. I just finished the campaign, was great. Still a bit sad with the modification that was made to trade, but with combat missions I managed to earn enough money. Can't wait for the next expansion.
It's working fine. Unless you have 2 different accounts having bought the game on one account and the DLC on another (or in my case, buying the HD one with another acount). But I somehow managed to make it work. Damn NZ account and the excitement of jumping on a new release ahead of everyone . Glad I didn't have to make the purchase again. PM me if you need help. I hear yah. Was freakin tough getting the Void essences but it's doable. You're gonna need the Yin Co. Shadow Ninja cloak for it. Make sure to time it well. Engage the cloak just in time when you land on the rock and you're good. Although by the time the cloak's done, you still have a few seconds window to grab the essence before you're blasted to pieces. A good armor and shield is also gonna help here. Once you're successful with the mining, hit speed blast so you have another opportunity to engage your cloak. Good luck.
Also much easier if you bring a few wingmen along. I had one and I was able to do it without using a cloak. Just destroy all the void ships, mine as long as you can before they respawn, boos out of danger, and repeat.
I stop playing the Game at the same Moment and never touched it a second Time. It's still impressive that I had never a similar experience in over 25 Year of Gaming and I have played through Wing Commander: Privateer/X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter/Tie Fighter/Falcon X/... and many more but that Mission really made me throw my iPad in the Corner.
Use seeyoon strategy and you'll be fine. I went in the void with 30 energy cells, blasted some enemies, went near an asteroid, enclenched the Ynn Co invisibility, drilled, went to the next, etc etc. at the end I had 5, you can build an awesome weapon with them, that you can sell 375000 credits.
ugh. The only reason I was able to get through it was because I had done plenty of exploring the galaxy before I went to do the story missions, so my ship had plenty of shield/armor/repair bots to pull through almost anything, plus the best scanner and three sunfires (one of the best thermal weapons) which is a lethal combination. Honestly though, I've sunk many hours into just exploring the different galaxies and doing side missions, the story isn't that big of a draw for me. Though I do plan on beating Valkyrie before Supernova comes out.
I played all the way through GoF2 + Valkyrie in June. About 25 hours, IIRC. To my knowledge, the crazy trading exploits (50 million in 30 minutes) had already been fixed. A few comments: 1. Story is pretty secondary to the GoF2 experience. If you like working your way to the top in an open-ended environment, then this is a great game for that. Exploring and upgrading are the central draws. The story is something you get around to for a change of pace. 2. You don't need a "strategy" to mine in the Void. You need a cloaking device. It's really that simple. 3. The only part of GoF2 that seems designed to encourage IAP is the Lounge that costs 50 million. But isn't that a 99 cent unlock in the HD version of the game? I don't see a problem with that. If you want to own your own station and acquire multiple ships, 99 cents is pretty reasonable. Personally I think their mistake was in setting an in-game price-tag at all. Anyone who grinds for 50 mil to save $1 of real money poorly values their own time, IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't that take at least four or five hours? $1 of real money to buy five hours of my life back is a pretty good trade. It's a different story if price-tags are in-line with earnings opportunities. 4. What's the word on Supernova? I could see getting back into GoF2 if some good content was added. Valkyrie was essential (for the equipment, not for the story).
