LOL! In graphics speak, it's the same thing as... The iPhone 4 attaining a retina display and spec boost, last year. Gamers wanted current and future apps to support the retina screen and better internal specs. Gamers would plead with developers to enhance apps to include retina enhancements. Those retina enhancements added to a game size, even for people without retina specs. This is the same thing now, with the iPad 2. The tech supports the better visual features, (shaders, dual core, anti aliasing, mapping and reflections, etc) which Fishlabs has shown they can achieve already, with the inferior Tegra 2. To me, it's a matter of the developers not being hypocritical by giving iPad 2 owners this time, the same love and enhancements that they gave to iPhone4 and iPod touch4 users last year...
I agree.... its a no-win situation for the dev's but if the only way to make it simple and accessible is to include the new textures into the same binary then so be it... I'd rather see work being fairly rewarded than trying to come up with some weird scheme of multiple binaries etc.... plus i'd be fairly confident that 95% of users wouldn't really notice the size increase (or at least be that bothered to care).. Seems like other companies, thinking Real Racing (400Mb) devs here have already done it and i'm presuming Infinity Blade (600Mb) does also, they're both enhanced binaries and one is universal too.. Just go for it .... do the work, include the binaries, put the HD textures as a 99c IAP to release them if you want i know i'll pay
The game is universal for both ipad and iphone. Yeah just saw the new trailer for Valkyrie and it is wicked!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FANWV_kWW4Q&feature=feedu
did they say how much it'd cost ? I think an awesome addon they can give us is a good multiplayer system
I agree. You and me both. I think it's the fair way to do it. For once, give the iPad2 owners something to cheer about, vs. the second fiddle... Plus, you'll already have implemented the solution early so when iPhone 5 or 4S hits, you'll have been prepared 2 months in advance
Hi Guys, some more info about Valkyrie that you might be curious about, pricing for instance ;-) http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Various/Galaxy+on+Fire+2/news.asp?c=29215 Cheers, Michael
Is the iPad 2 version coming out at the same time as the add on (28th) or at a later date. Don't know if I should buy now or wait off a little.
Was going to wait but it could be months so thought what the hell. Will need to try tilt control.. Might get a bit sore holding up a iPad for a hour or so.
Offtopic: Virtual Joystick is the Way... Ontopic: I am really looking forward for the next DLC Valkyrie and also for the iPad 2 Version (Enhanced Version).
I know I'm going to sound like a cheap ass but I would only get this if it went back to £3.99 - I have to get game DLC or it feels incomplete (even if it doesn't, a bit of an ocd problem) and so £5.99 + £2.39 is a lot. I know it's worth it, but it's a lot comparatively.
I would have liked to see the DLC on sale at first, similar to how the game came out at $6.99 until universal hit. $2.99 would be the sweet spot for this I think, then increase it soon after.
Did the devs ever mention if there will be any way to customize the look of your ships ( ie: change the paint job, for example )? I never liked the colors of the Vossk ships
From the looks of things and the quality of GOF2, I think $4.99 for the new expansion is a good price. This is one of the few games that really feels like a full featured console or PC quality game. I can't wait for the new content.
