Hey I got a question. I'm wondering whether you guys have looked into making the iPhone a control pad for the iPad version... so for the fighting and flying sections you can choose to just use the iPhone as the controller and the iPad as the screen, similarly to Chopper 2 (is that the name? lol) It would just make the experience even that much better!
I just want to say: I really appreciate the straight-forward honesty and character exhibited by the above post. Thanks, Michael. That's as clear and succinct response to the price 'question' as I've seen. Well done. That said, I do not own GOF2, and will not, until the price is somewhat lower. I would certainly do $3-5. I only mention this because, though I fully recognize the honesty and truth in your statement, the unfortunate reality is that there are quite a few players like me who are, for lack of a better term, 'skittish hard-core' players. This is due mainly to strength in numbers. Ten bucks is a fair price. But for them dollars, I can buy about 5 other games, some of which will satisfy my deep-gameplay urge (Battleheart, PvZ, various TDs, etc). I'm better off buying the five games, because the chances of finding one I can really get invested in is quite high. Even if full investment only amounts to half the play time of GOF2, that still means I only have to really get into 2 of those 5 games. Anyway, I bring this up not to cause consternation! But to point out an obstacle (or opportunity?) to what otherwise is the 'right' pricing scheme for GOF2 and games like it.
Yeah, it is quite stupid, but it doesn't hurt asking! And no, I do not believe GOF2 should be sold for only .99. However, knowing a price drop would be nice for my friend's purposes. As for me, I've enjoyed this game so far and luckily got it while it was still $7, and I'll definitely be buying the upcoming DLC too
Yep, we do but first we will launch the dual-core version of GOF2 on Tegra2 powered Android devices. The good thing is the Mac OS version of GOF2 will feature all the ultra high res assets and shaders. We still have to work on optimizing the controls for mouse and keyboard as well as testing and eventually adapting the UI for desktop screen resolution though. So stay tuned
Yes, considering the iPad 2 absolutely stomps the Tegra 2* in GPU-related tests, that high-rez version would probably be best suited for the second giant iPod. I'm glad to see GoF 2 on Android, but in the long run, GoF 2 deluxe on the iPad 2 might be more profitable. * Stomps as in "it digs a hole, stomps them into the mud, refills the whole, stomps it again, and repeats ten more times before the others even try to fight back." As a internally polarized fan of both iOS and Android, I am a bit sorry for the Fandroids. Two years of hyping the Tegra 2, just to find out it is hopelessly left behind by the dual ARM Cortex A9/PowerVR SGX 543MP2.
What's new in Galaxy on Fire 2 - Valkyrie Well, what ever new device you are considering, first we will have something fresh for pretty much any current iOS device: Check out what's new in the extensive GOF2 add-on Valkyrie, coming out April 28: http://www.fishlabs.net/en/blog/iphone-game-galaxy-on-fire-2-valkyrie-dev-diary-part-iv/?blog=1 Let us know if you think it's worth a read Cheers, Michael
oh man that looks awesome. Buying the upgrade when it comes out. my ipad and iphone totally replaced my psp.
While Valkyrie looks awesome and will be an instant purchase for me without shadow of doubt .... i'd quite happily pay for an in-app iPad2 enhancement pack ... given how flawless GoF2 ran on original iPad it would be able to look stunning with some new textures, extra particle and lighting effects etc .... hope you can get us an updated technological version soon.... might even hold off playing the expansion (still buy) if you can at least hint to it
Hey FishLabs, what will be the price of the in-app purchase? I have a few dollars left from an iTunes gift card and am wondering how much I need to save.
We will definitely release a heavily enhanced version of Galaxy on Fire 2 for iPad2. However, we haven't decided yet if we will do this with Valkyrie enhanced to the same level available at the same time. Also, if we released this as an update of the current GOF2 version every non-iPad2 or non-iPhone5 user would get 400 MB game data onto their device they actually can't benefit from. They would just lose precious space on their device. It would be ideal if there was a standard solution where we can provide a discount to existing players of GOF2 when they upgrade to the enhanced version or, even better, users have the possibility to upgrade depending which device they own. Tricky...
I've been watching this for ages, and the IAP seems like the thing to push me off the fence. But then again, an expensive IAP plus $9.99 is expensive for iOS terms, and so will reluctantly wait for a sale.
I haven't buy this for my iPhone because of the price. but if there is a version for my iPad2, I may consider it. when will it release on iPad?
Fishlabs, I am a proud owner of Galaxy on Fire 2. I purchased the game for 6.99, when it debuted, for my original iPad. I have since seen, what your engine could do with Tegra devices. The iPad 2 (which I now own), is vastly superior to Tegra 2 in it's graphical capabilities. It would be wise, while the market for "iPad 2 optimized" apps and games (Apple has a storefront on the AppStore specifically for this category), is still slim pickings to gain notoriety - by approaching this market with over 2 million users. I understand the not wanting extra size in a universal apps. However, it would prepare you early for an iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S and would require no additional work on your part when those arrive. I won't be purchasing the expansion, or reinstalling GOF2 until it is optimized for iPad 2. I want you to give iOS owners the same love you're giving android. I expect a capable enhancement, because I know you can and are VERY talented. Please consider this - sooner than later. There's a huge pool of ipad2 owners to target, with little competition. The pool is growing as the device sits in sell out status, even today.
Really looking forward to the Valkyrie add-on. I've clocked up more hours playing GOF2 than any other iOS game, and I can't wait to get back into it when the Valkyrie pack is released. Nice work Fishlabs!
