Well, I guess I will wait before diving in! I have heard that the story missions are somewhat short, but instead of adding to the main story is there any chance that you could add side quests?
Personally, more story driven missions is what I was missing the most in GOF2 but it is really a big deal if you want to get it done right. We already have about 800 sound files (!) for the voice acting and also scripting the cut scenes and balancing the missions is a hell lot of work. I already saw some sweet new weapons and concept arts for some brand new ship designs. However, I'd rather have a DLC with new weapons, ships and hidden systems to discover AND a compelling story continued including voice acting but that would come at a price both in terms of production time and money. It's all in the flux... Cheers, Michael
i agree a few more story levels would be more fun. once i finished all the levels, i don't feel like playing again
I would want more ships and weapons as well, maybe a new mission type , one that would include the usage of a large battleship... kinda like the ship destruction missions in the first GOF.... where you have to take out the ships turrets and then the ship itself. As for a ship I want, I will "PAY!!!" for more Vossk ships , especially a Vossk ship that can equip a turret! I'm OCD when it comes to matching colors... and the best turret in the game ain't got a ship to match . As for weapons, maybe a new Vossk weapon through blueprints. The blaster and the thermo are the only weapons that don't have blueprints . Maybe the Vossk can be given a new super blaster .
Has anyone encountered enemies that actually use missiles or rockets? With the new swipe to dodge mechanic, an incoming ordinance warning plus a small dodge window (a la Star Battalion) could help make combat more varied.
Great news, fishlabs! I'm still playing GOF2 and would really love to have some new ships to try out. At my stage (Veteran, Aesir) there's not much left to choose from. It would be nice to have more variety, say some ships armed to the teeth with little cargo space; armed cargo ships with limited secondary weapons or equipment, and the like.
lite version is out in NZ. Should be showing in US at 11 EST. http://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/galaxy-on-fire-2-lite/id406145701?mt=8
I saw that there was a new update available today, but the description is still for the 1.03 update. Anyone know what has changed?
I love the swipe action!!! EXCELLLENT addition to this game. Now I can fight head to head in a battle, while not relying on the stealth generator 100% of the time hahaha. Extreme difficulty is a great addition as well! I always thought Hard was a bit too easy still. Now I want more ships !!! And maybe try this idea on for size... A way to control your boost, not speed, but being able to turn it off after it has been turned on. Of course that would also require a boost gauge, so you can see how much boost you have left. Sometimes I need to boost, but when I'm turning, sometimes I just want to turn it off.
Lol extreme difficulty is difficult hahaha. You know you are in for a ride when you get killed on the 2nd or 3rd mission, hahaha.
Raised the price? When has raising the price ever effected sales? I'm really not going to buy it now Look at the top 200 games, the vast majority of them are .99-5.99. Actually, I don't see one that's over 6.99
$6.99 was the introductory price. They've been saying this since release day. That's your loss then. Galaxy on Fire 2 is one of the best mobile games I've played. With the exception of Aralon, which will be going up to $9.99 also, none of them have the depth of GOF2. GOF2 is worth every penny of its $9.99 price tag if you like subtle, intelligent, sci-fi RPGs. Real Racing 2 is #56 in the US App Store, and #15 top grossing, and it's $9.99.
Yea i agree. people by iphones, ipads, ipod touches for hundreds of the dollar but complain about a 6 dollar or 10 dollar game. I'd rather complain about the 60 dollar games for the xbox 360 and ps3.
I just wanted to chime in and give this game yet another bump. I paid the full $10 for it and it's totally engrossing. Does the game ultimately let you get all the way up to flying those capital ships I see drifting in certain systems?
I don't understand why this game did not receive more consideration from reviewers in general for best game of 2010. I think that it is arguably better than Space Miner or GTA: Chinatown Wars, which is the game that Slide to Play picked. At least STP had the game ranked in the top half of their 50 best games of 2010, but even that is too low IMHO.
That is great to know. A core game this good really deserves some more DLC. I'm most interested in the story. My favorite PC games are Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. On the iOS side, I think that the 4 Gamebook Adventures from Tin Man Games offer a great storytelling experience on both iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch.
Because the only way it can go now in price is down. And although I'm sure it is worth more than $10, to the poster it is inevitable that it will go back down in price and so not worth getting in the immediate future.
