I just tested my camera with Star Batallion and it works!!! So maybe tonight or tomorrow i'll post a Video.
what kind of camera do you use? I've been wanting to make video reviews, but none of the cameras I have make a clear video, their always blurry.
I was having the same problem it depends on how close the camera is to the idevice plus change pixel settings. Ex. 320x240 change to 480x272 i think.....Oh its a Canon Powershot SD750.
I can't resist pointing out the fact that a game revolving around intergalactic space travel cannot possibly be realistic. It's about as realistic as Star Trek and Star Wars, both of which are, of course, ridiculously unrealistic.
Just playing as I write. The voices are fantastic (listen, Gameloft). Besides that, game seems ok, stuttered a bit during first battle (iPhone 4) and I really miss a cockpit view (or is there any?). Sound and graphics are good, nothing breathtaking though. Have to play more.
Star Battalion is leagues better than the original GoF!!!!! (pulls on flame-proof vest) They are both essentially 3D space-combat games; battalion is more akin to the Rogue Squadron games, whereas this game 'tries' to emulate the Wing Commander series/X-wing_Tie Fighter games. The gameplay in Star battalion will be more linear, but I can tell you that it is a brilliant space shooter for an iDevice and it just plain works. Conversely GoF is one of those games that just doesn't quite work properly on a small handheld and feels like its bitten off slightly more than it can chew (hopefully GoF2 fixes what was wrong with the first). Personally I would get Star Battalion as it is a fantastic game on iphone. I would recommend reading the Star battalion threads as well as this thread (especially tomorrow when the game has garnered more reviews) and also watch the trailers to get a good feel for the differences between the games.
I expect most readers realize that this discussion takes place within the context of video games and understand how subjective the term 'realistic' can be. However, thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious.
Looks like it's out in the UK now, I loved the first game so this one is a given. £3.99 launch price. Just noticed it has gamecenter too, awesome.
there 2 different kind of games, battalion plays more like star fox style of game..this game is a space flight Sim / but more arcadey less Sim... not supposed to be as fast as battalion...
I know, so I'm just realizing that it's not as entertaining for me as I was hoping (strange, because I got some great memories of the first one). But I will definitely spend some more hours, really love the voice work and the atmosphere is nice.
If it's like the first game you need to play a good 3-4 hours before you get some nice gear and have more fun in the battles, it's when the game starts to be it's own.
hope they fix the stuttery of movement in the first one. That might just have been an iphone 4 issue or what not. And imo GoF was more Star Fox than open ended shooter, cuz you don't really have a 'open world' until a fair time later.
