Could we maybe stop freaking out and threatening eternal damnation when we have a developer active in the thread who is obviously more than willing to hear, consider, and likely make significant changes based on constructive criticism and feedback?

Thanks in advance for the sanity.

Thanks for the feedback everyone and I do appreciate the support. My goal is to make the game as fun as possible and incorporate the things that will work and make sense in Galaxoid.

Still waiting on Apple to review the current update.

Galaxoid version 1.1 just went into review by Apple.

Just a reminder of whats included in version 1.1 update.

    1. Game Center Achievements
    2. Options menu on Title Screen
    3. iCade/Gametel support (Enabled through new Options menu)
    4. Movement sensitivity options (Available on new Options menu)
    5. Music on/off option (Available on new Options menu)
    6. Pause button (I put this in, but since Im still a bit weary of a pause button in this type of game, be ready for some enemies to break out on resume ;) )
    7. A few other minor bug fixes, etc.

    Ill keep everyone posted! ;)

Awesome! Thanks for the update, especially audio options. Keep up the good work.

  7. Alright! Time to break out the icade core!

Also curious to see how the movement senstivity is.

    And pause is cool.

Love the icade support. You really built a wonderful game here.

  9. Might be nice to have there be the options in the pause screen as well as an end game to go to the main menu option.

    I really like this game!

I'm hoping to see the hold-to-fire implemented into the control scheme, if it's not too much trouble. I feel pretty tapped out after10 levels or so, but I see why the controls are like that with the emphasis the game places on accuracy and would understand if things are left as is.

I think it would be fun if the controls were configured so I could tap-to-fire (like it is now), or tap-hold to auto-fire...while playing in real time (not having to pause the game to change the controls from tap to fire or tap-hold).

I.e. When playing, I would tap-to-fire to hit targets on the perimeter of the swarm and tap-hold to auto-fire to hit targets in the center of the swarm, where accuracy is not as important.

Ive noted this down and will look into it for a future update. Thanks for your feedback!

Im still playing around with this. First and foremost I will only put this in if I can get it to work correctly. This feature must not be an advantage over people who choose not to use it. Its actually a little more than trivial to implement correctly believe it or not.

Im working on it though and will keep everyone informed. ;)

Also, I would like to thank everyone here who bought the app. I just recently set Galaxoid to free for a limited time, probably until Saturday 12pm EST. Im doing this to try and help gain awareness and exposure for the game. Im a lone developer and just trying to become successful. Once again I appreciate your contribution!

    Thanks everyone!

I just dloaded this for free and will have a good play later, it's not my type of game usually but I'll give it a go and if I enjoy ill buy it as a gift for my sister in law and nephew when the price goes back up as it's nice to see developers who listen to the players.

Had a quick play and got to level five which I found difficult but still fun, hopefully I'll get better the more I play. Thanks for making free and I'll be sure to gift to my nephew as he'd love this.

Thanks for the consideration, Jacob. You really do have a fine game here. I know things that seem easy can often be difficult, especially with IT... need to tell my boss that!

I'm not sure if what I outlined in the example from my previous post made sense though. I say this because if tap-to-fire and hold-fire were available concurrently, then everyone would be playing with the same control scheme and no one would have an advantage.

If this proves to be too difficult, a stand alone option for hold to fire would suffice. Thanks for listening.

Yeap, I completely get where you coming from. There will still be a toggle in the options screen though, but when enabled you will be able to tap to fire or hold to fire in game.

I'll keep everyone informed of how it starts to come along.

    Thanks.

Just a heads up. There's a bug when pausing that sometimes that allows the game to keep going even though the pause overlay comes up. This occurs when you press and slide off of he pause button rather than press and release. I'll be submitting a bug fix update soon.

    Thanks.

Ive just submitted Galaxoid version 1.2 to Apple for review. This is mainly to address a couple of bugs, but also includes the Auto-Fire feature ;)

    Galaxoid verison 1.2

    Bug fixes:
    • Fixed possible crash during Boss Battles
    • Fixed bug when pressing and sliding off of pause button
    • Fixed bug where rate dialog would possibly popup on resume during game

    Feature:
    • Added Auto-Fire feature. Tap to fire, Press and hold for Auto-Fire! (This should appease everyone.)

Apple review times are currently taking an average of 7 days so Ill let everyone know as soon as its live.

    Thanks everyone!

Excellent news! Can't wait to try out the new auto-fire. Thanks for adding that.

Are you still looking into implementing some sort of save system? Something like being able to start a new game after every 10 levels completed may work well.

I am working on a "continue" feature. It will basically allow you to continue twice after you have died. Starting you back at the level you died on and probably a score penalty. After using your 2 continues up you will then have to start at the beginning again. You will have 2 continues at every game start from the beginning.

More details to come once I have finished the feature.
