Yea, we'll see. Regardless, I don't want this to detract from the actual game talk and future of the game. Just thought it would be interesting for you guys to know some behind the scenes stuff that I bet every indie dev on here has to deal with to some degree. I may try getting some concept stuff together this weekend and in a few weeks maybe invite some beta testers. One note on beta testing, you'll no longer be ranking up points on the leaderboard since it's only sandbox accounts, so if you decide to help out with testing a new version, be prepared or have a 2nd device or something! :-D
I will say that I never really knew how important the power ups were until I started getting to the later levels. I pretty much NEED them now. This game gets pretty tough later on!!
Lures you in with some early easy wins, then you're spending those hard earned coins just to stay alive. I remember sitting on the couch screaming at my own game, I thought about making it easier at times, but then I realized, as hard as it was, I was actually having fun. HAHA
Sweet!!! And congrats on the great review from Pocket Tactics!!! http://www.pockettactics.com/news/ios-news/galaga-to-go-galactic-nemesis-brings-a-real-galaga-successor-to-ios/
Thanks dude! That's probably the best writeup I've seen so far of my game. I'm over the moon with that. It makes me wonder if there are any other arcade type blogs that would feature a game such as Galactic Nemesis.
The two actors are just two friends of mine who live here in Brooklyn, not sure anyone would know them unless we have some Brooklyn folks in the house? We had a blast making that video! It's funny the scene on the subway train not one person looked over at the little shoulder camera rig I was carrying, it wouldn't have gone better had I paid them all. haha I need to do a blooper reel. Probably have another two hours of footage.
Awesome Love this game, saw it in here, made the purchase, such a good space invaders for iPhone, it's about time someone made a decent one.
I thought maybe you would have put your acting chops on! I did notice the subway scene and no one looking over. Stealth! Or apathy! Today, the 35K ship will be mine!
Thanks man! I'm glad you're liking it. I was actually looking for a great version on the app store to just play, I didn't originally set out to make one, I figured it had to have been done before. @paulkane : It was probably just apathy. And.. get that SHIP!
That last ship takes a lot of upgrading! Seems like each of the 3 attributes take 6 upgrades until they're maxed, as compared to earlier ships that (I think) only took 3. Spent a little more time grinding for coins last night. Now I've got the fire rate and shield maxed, and only one more (hopefully) left for the special. It costs 5,900 coins, but that won't take using the TX3 on TRANSMISSION LOST lvls 1-4. I expect you to beat my GC challenge by Saturday, paulkane! That's the deadline before it doesn't count anymore!
Ha! Hey, I have responsibilities, man...although I did buy the GL2 this morning. Those upgrades look steep, thanks for the heads up on the max amount of upgrades and the costs. Is the TX3 on TL1-4 the best way to grind? Definitely the easiest! I can't wait to start working my way into shielded army...but I think I have a pending challenge to take care of first. Hmm. Edit: I now understand it's the fastest. 500 coins, boom!
2 codes Hey Guys, sorry if you get to these two late, but here's 2 more promo codes on the twitter!! Hope someone here gets em! https://twitter.com/wovencharlie/status/596483741461172225
I recently purchased Galactic Nemesis and i think it is a fantastic homage to a great era of video games. Such a fun and addictive game. On a Side Note... I think it is kind of neat that you are also sharing the behind the scenes stuff with us. To me, this is all kind of new, i've been out of the iOS apps/gaming loop for some time now, and only recently got back into it and to tell you the truth, a lot has changed in the last few years, i remember when developers just released a lite and paid version, that was it. With this freemium pricing strategy that has populated the market, i have found it somewhat more difficult to find a good game. I know my voice is small, but as NOEN suggested "Maybe put out a separate version of the game supported by ads.". Is that really a bad concept these days? For my particular situation, IAP's simply are not easily accessible. There quite a few apps/games i would love to buy, but can't, due to them only being available via IAP. Long story short, games like Galactic Nemesis i truly appreciate. So thank you.
Thanks for the kind words, I sincerely appreciate it! No voice is too small, I appreciate the feedback; I may end up releasing an ad-only version after exhausting all options with the paid version. I've had games that were ad supported in the past and from that limited experience they would have needed several hundred thousand downloads before any $$ starts coming in. For instance, from 50k downloads I earned about $350 from my last game which ended me at a deficit of a few thousand (not including my own time). My biggest goal (more so than making $$ from this) is to see a few people playing it on the subway on my way to work. Would be thrilling to me to have that experience. One day it will happen, maybe not this game, perhaps the next. :-D - Charlie
Ok, got the GL2 and all other ships fully upgraded. This weekend I'll have time to tackle the SHIELDED ARMY endurance challenge and reclaim my top spot from "fauxlina". That girl ain't givin' up! It'd be great if we could get her to join in on the discussion here.
Nice! I saw Fauxlina back on top and thought the same thing. I've been working feverishly to upgrade GL2 and have 2 more specials (4900/5900) to go. I still have a couple of ships to buy though: GL1 and the top ship on Obsolescence. My time is running out on your challenge too!
Ha! I'll give you as much time as you need seeing as I have at least five unbeaten challenges from you I tried a few more attempts today to top some of my scores but no luck yet...
