I have bad news... after not playing the game yesterday to give others a chance to find pins...i couldn't wait and I played this morning. I'm thinking the Boundless Prize pin that I'm wearing has buffed my luck because I found two more pins in less than 40 mins. My character luck stat is my highest stat...just saying maybe that might help some people. Happy hunting!!
Ok, the enemies do seem harder to kill. That's cool though; I think it adds to the game. I also found this:
OMG. O M G. I was trying a solo run through (which I couldn't) and in the last hour I: 1) had one of the most epic fight I ever had against the huge Overland or how it's called, which left me totally drained and without any item. 2) sneaked around several times cleverly using the temporal armour. 3) found a totally new zone I never encountered before!!!! This is SO FREAKING COOL. Last build balance is just perfect. Well, everything is perfect so far. Old time D&D hardcore gamers will simply love this.
I'm not as far as everyone else but I have not encountered any issues at all. The current build is running smooth as can be so far...
So I just about was barely into a level when I found this in a chest. Out of a locked chest popped some sort of creature, so I didn't find time to actually equip the pin. D'oh!! That creature ended up killing me so I had to start again with a knew character and go and retrieve the items from my old body and finally equip the pin. I'm in two minds about having creatures pop out of locked chests. It sort of adds the feeling of getting jipped to something that's supposed to be good and a relief to finally open. I've seen a game add bad effects to chests before and it wasn't great in my opinion. Interested to know others thoughts. And Yeh, enemies are way harder. Whatever I came across so early in the game was hitting me for like 40 damage, and healing itself on turns just like me. I finally (with my second character), got it down to almost no points, I apparently roll a critical and what happens, apparently it fled (ran off the screen and I'll probably have to fight it again when I see it). This was within like 5 or so encounters. (Having a great time btw).
This is what I came across. Looks like his health stayed down at 1hp so that's good. Not so hard to kill next time, but he's still on the map. It was hitting pretty hard and healing well.
I just died again within a few battles of where I last set off with a new character. This is considerably harder now. Anyone finding it too hard? Or do I just need more practice? Also, it seems like when you die you just select another character (but not the same one again). Then when that character dies, you may select again the character you had before the last one (or entirely new). You just can't select the current dead one. Is that how this works? It seems like dieing may not be that bad, apart from losing board placement. As it is, you're still slowly clearing the board of enemies anyway.
I personally think this is easier than some of the original builds, though I don't think I get far enough on each build to judge whether or not it is easier / tougher than the previous build or not. As for dying, at least the last couple of builds have been this way where when you die you select a new character and must "retrieve" your dead character before you can use them again. I actually like that feature.
Ooh ok. I didn't realise "retrieving" them was part of getting them back again. Well then that's pretty cool. Obviously I haven't played far enough to tell the difference with that.
Unless they changed it again, of course. I haven't played long enough in the latest build to die yet, but as of the last build that was what you had to do to get a teammate back. Basically you find their "remains" where they died on the map and then transport them back to "home base". Then the next time you die you'll be able to use the other character again.
I'm not sure it's really ok to discuss all these things about the beta but the most vague in a public forum, at the very least not to spoil the fun for when the game will be published. The revive thing anyway is not only a (IMHO brilliant) gameplay thing but it's tied to the story in a very deep manner.
Sorry, my bad. Guess I figured by the time the game comes out everyone will have forgotten anyway Seriously, though, storyline aside (which I didn't mention anyway), this is something you learn so early on that I don't think it's that big of a spoiler. But, I'll try to be more careful next time.
Ehi it's all good, it's just my thought!!! I'm not the dev and to be honest I may be part of the problem myself!!! What I was trying to say (probably badly worded) is that the game is so tight and cohesive that every part makes sense and part of the fun is discovering all that imho. I'm playing the game since so long I tend to forget myself it's not out already...but then I think about those poor souls that have yet to play it! Anyway, it's a great game
My pin count is currently up to 9. The first 4 I've claimed here on the message board already. The next 1 had been claimed by someone else before I found it. But now I'm sitting on 4 new pins that haven't been claimed yet. I'll claim two now, then wait to give everyone a chance to catch up. How long will I wait? I don't know. Get Hunting!! Found my first real app crash bug today. Found a gun with a mod already on it. when I tried to detach the mod, the game would crash. I tried moving from my current position, then trying to detach the mod it would still crash. I quit the app and removed it's saved state (double tap home button...swipe the app up) and when choosing continue, it would still crash when I tried to detach the mod. I then just continued playing and after another encounter, went back into my inventory and was able to detach the mod no problem. No crash. Otherwise the app has been very stable for me.
You snooze you loose...2 more pins...and yet I still have two more unclaimed pins. I keep finding areas I haven't been to before. I love that about this game. One comment about the UI. I had selected an enemy and the mini card display came up. Instinctually I tapped on the mini card to hide it, and my character moved to the place underneath it. I just had to change my habit to tapping the enemy character to hide it. I can see the advantage of having the mini card up during combat and moving around, as I can see the exact amount of life left. So I wouldn't change anything. I can just see some people making the same mistake a few times and having to adjust to that a bit. Awesome game!! Day one purchase for me. Hopefully that day is soon.
This build has been running very smoothly. Hopefully that means this will be released very soon. It's already my game of the year. A weird thing: I have found that was odd happened after I opened a red chest: some of my inventory was in the chest! My character was overburdened at that point so maybe that was a factor. I also experienced an odd thing when saving a game. I equipped my character with a weapon, then saved and exited, but when I loaded the game I had to equip the weapon again. That's it though. This game is awesome; I keep finding new areas (and loot) too. Here's a few more pins I found. I know some of these are repeats, but here they are just the same:
Pin Update Quite a few of the pins have been found...but there are still a few left that have not. For the record, we'll reset things with the next build so everyone'll get at least one more chance to find them. In answer to the question a few posts back, yes the game will be released in 2015.
