After reading your sig, looks like we're in the same boat. Thankfully I don't really need anything on it, plus I rather like working at home. I can't work though because this damn puzzle is driving me nuts. I feel the answer is right here but I'm just not seeing it. He said the word Spire (I believe it was "Alien Looking Spire" in the video). It almost seems too obvious to be the word Spire in the URL. In fact, his mention of Spire is what led me to find the links I posted. I Googled San Francisco Tree Trunk Spire or something like that. I'd previously never heard of it. So he led us to the spire and it was pretty obvious. In the URL I've tried the creator's name, the word spire, presidio, golden gate, inspirational point...all kinds of different combinations. BUT: He said we need the code that is ON THE DISC IN the spire. So it seems to me now that perhaps "Spire" isn't a part of the actual code. I dunno, just thinking out loud.
Been trying code, codeondisc, infodisccode, etc, etc, lol... None work >_> I'm starting to think there's like a CD in the spire lmao.
A few pages back I offered to drive up there if all else fails. But it would be kind of silly for them to hold a contest not knowing if anybody would be living in the area, and limiting the chance of winning to those particular people. But, they see how we work as a team, so maybe whatever is on this mythical disc needs to be further deciphered. In other words, we'd al team up to figure it out anyways. Seems like a stretch though. It would also be hard to find in that structure...there are many nooks and crannies that one could put a disc into. Doesn't sound like fun trying ti find it.
I've searched all over. Cannot find anything that makes any sense! After reading your post. The Doors song "light my fire" kept popping into my head, "its an alien looking spire!","girl we couldnt get much higher" haha.
Consolidating some links here: This map can show you more precisely where the spire actually is: http://www.presidio.gov/NR/rdonlyres/3FC115D6-7064-4C17-9EEF-EE893BDF6498/0/DirectionstotheSpireaccesible.pdf So will this supposedly: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Presidio+spire&sll=37.797475,-122.463956&sspn=0.007969,0.019226&ie=UTF8&ll=37.791969,-122.45941&spn=0.000996,0.002403&t=h&z=19 The Google Map Coords (paste into Google Maps) 37.792394,-122.459756 Think I posted this already: http://www.presidio.gov/experiences/spire.htm http://leblog.exuberance.com/2009/02/andy-goldsworthys-spire-in-the-presidio-of-san-francisco.html Not sure what's next.
You think I am joking. I am working with the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA). Issues with incoming OCSP queries and the resultant responses. Configuration issues. This is a new server for them.
I'll be monitoring as much as I can, but I have a validation to run... I thought the Captain said "alienish" looking spire. I made myself look away. I did not want to go looking through the old videos again... I have no determininism...
I love watching you guys bang your heads together while I know I've already solved a puzzle Yes, well, that doesn't make this infuriating puzzle any easier, but it gives me a false sense of superiority that I'm enjoying quite a bit. It's like I'm sitting on a throne watching you peasants scramble for corn kernels
You shouldn't be joking when the Captain maybe in mortal peril, pursued by the Leather Goddesses of Phobos (tm) ...
