Just finished the first chapter. The game is full of charm and personality. It's clear to me that someone on the dev team has a lot of love for the series. The dialogue fits the characters extremely well. It oozes fan service. Say what you want about it being the waste of a license, I disagree. The gameplay varies a fair bit and some of the levels get pretty challenging by the end of the chapter (25 levels). There is no energy meter in sight. I haven't lost a life yet, but I assume the f2p mechanics come into play there.
Haha like we shouldn't expect or even care anymore if they have .99-300$ of IAP. As long as the pricing isn't greedy for what you get out of it. If someone wants to buy the most expensive one, good for them I guess.
God this game is awful. Imagine if the Simpsons creators said "let's not do Tapped Out ...lets do a generic match three that steals everybody else's ideas like remove background tiles, make objects fall down,etc...yeah that'll do the franchise proud!" "Oh don't forget to add boosters...you know to act as a paywall so we can start making the levels eventually impossible without buying them. That's also common with non-skill match threes" It even feels like a cheap bootleg...uninspired knock off version of the theme music and tiny snippets of voice not specifically done for the game of course. Only good moment comes when it asks you if you are enjoying it. When you say no you can write them why. I just said "Try something REMOTELY original". Not sure why I expected anything better however. At least it seems to make some of you deliriously happy.
Yeah, you're right, forgot about that. But I didn't know that the ones bought by people show up in the store. This is strange, now it won't show the IAP anymore, but it was there yesterday, hmm?
Yeah, I was enjoying it until it got to the point where power-ups are expected to be used. Not only that, but I don't think using them lowers your score -- it might even increase it. Blargh. Unless I earn my power ups, I don't want them. Edit: I'm still managing without power-ups, but I feel like I'm only giving this game my time bc it's Futurama. Ok, level 30 is annoying.
For the record, the music is not a knock off of the theme. It is legitimate theme music. I think it's the music that was used during the credits on the movies (I just watched Bender's Game and Beast with a Billion Backs). And I also agree with a previous comment: despite not having voice acting for all the dialogue, the script definitely feels like the show. And, thank goodness, the grammar is perfect! That's a big deal, because some of the puns and double entendres wouldn't work with bad grammar. I believe one of the show writers actually worked on this. I'm at level 42. I still like it. Did you know it doesn't require an Internet connection? You can play on airplane mode or with cellular data turned off for the game. To me, that means that the devs "get it"
Meh, there are plenty of games that make the match-based thing their own (Scurvy Scalawags, Must Build A Boat, Hell even Bejeweled) this is just Candy Crush with a Futurama theme. Very disappointing.
So basically if you're a fan of the show and not jaded to the point of offense for a game with a familiar-though-slightly-different mechanic, you'll enjoy this free offering? Not seeing a downside here. Sure, it would have been cool to see something Different and Cool, but eh, long as it's fun.
Ditto. I wanted something other than match game for futurama, but that's what we got. The writing is great, the game is at least well built and a lot of effort went into building the environments. You can play for absolutely free for at least 2-3 hours, so knock yourself out before deleting.
I think that's fair. I don't see how you could see dialogue like this and not respect that there was a thorough understanding and appreciation of the source material. NSFW Almost done with second chapter. There are some levels that are pretty rough and may require burning some lives, but nothing I haven't been able to beat without using power-ups.
That's very much it: Candy crush with a different coat. I was looking forward to this, as I love Futurama.. Instead we get Candy Crush with a pretend story.
Nope, not me, lol. Had to burn all to reach level 43, including two fill-ups (one overnight). I'm totally not biased, since my TV presence with this show is under two hours, in total. And while i understand the fans for getting an uninspired match-4 only from this franchise, hell, i'm really enjoying it. Yet, lol. Occasionally my lives/energy aversion shows some tolerance. I even could imagine to buy a "double lives/halfen time" iap. Maybe only because... Call me crazy, but i actually came here only to swarm about that adorable interactive and colorful level menu. Lol, it gets even worse, but i can't stop thinking and wishing: Why isn't this an on-rail shooter?!
Hi all. Thought I'd give my two cents. Yes. This game is basically a candy crush clone albeit I think a little more unique in terms of power ups and being able to use the power of your hero character. Yes, the game throws some levels at you that will make you think "how the hell am I supposed to beat this!?" But with enough luck you will. I've never minded the candy crush games. They're simple time wasters where I know the game is rigged against my favor in lots of situations, which is why I have not and will never spend money on them. That's pretty much what this game is except futurama style. As a long time fan of the series. I enjoy the witty humor they throw at you every once in a while and the occasional voice acting. Currently on level 55 and have not used any power ups. For those on the fence, give the game a try because it's free. Just don't take it too seriously
I'm on level 83 with no power ups. It's like the other match-3+ games: a bit of skill and a bit of luck. Idk, that's sort of why I like this genre. I also like that the starter pack's mascot is the used car robot that rips Amy off. It's almost as if the game is saying, this is a rip off. It would have only been more obvious if they'd use the Scammers from Bender's Big Score. The game nods to that kind of stuff a few times, including some of the phrases on the title card, like "If you don't play it someone else will." That's the kind of clever writing I expect from Futurama. I also also like the wheel you spin with ads. I think it's one of the better ad implementations in a F2P game. It's voluntary, it gives you something beneficial, I've won the Jackpot (20 bucks), and it gives you unlimited hearts sometimes. That was really helpful earlier when I was pushing through a tricky level. I'm totally digging this game. I'm biased toward Futurama, but I think the mechanics are solid and the gameplay is fair enough.
Delete and unsub. Best thing I've done with my day today. Sorry, 2nd best. Best thing was to get drunk.
