I don't know how solidly this game could be considered a roguelike, at least in the traditional sense, but it is fun and brutal. Sort of like if you combined Star Fleet Battles with a roguelike motif, I guess.
I kind of see this as Dark souls for the space/rogue-like-ish genre. Brutal, miserable, hellish and the most freaking fun time you'll have getting your ass handed to you in any game, outside of dark souls maybe. I'd kill to see PewDiePie do a playthrough. He's done it with Surgeon Simulator, so I hope he will give this a try.
Words cannot really describe how utterly brilliant this game is! Played a fair bit on my Mac in the past but having it in your hands like this is a joy. Goodbye, other games
Stopped at best buy tonight. Bought an iPad mini so I can play this. My name is turakm and I have a problem.
I'm downloading right now. I'M SO EXITED I COULD PEE!! Dude, I respect your dedication. Luckily for you, you have a sweet iPad mini to use and play with when your not playing FTL.
Went with the 32. I won't watch movies on it or have pictures. Using it for games, music, and surfing the web. Loving it so far tho. But I'm locked out from purchasing since I don't know my dream job (security question) so I can't get it till tomorrow : [ Edit: could try buying in my computer first. That's the plan.
Some handy beginner tips from the dev himself (although based on the original PC version, I'll bet they still are useful): http://www.polygon.com/2012/10/31/3580618/ftl-tips-how-to-survive-the-dangers-of-interstellar-travel
