Wh... What!?!? Weapon rooms connected with the rest of the ship on normal?!?! OMG, this is surely going to get difficult when (if) I beat easy and get onto normal...
Hah same here, haven't really found the time to really get into the game. I hope the tutorial does a great job explaining things.
Yeah. I found the tutorial gets you about 75% of the way to really "getting" the gameplay and simply attempting a few runs, accepting that you will make some fundamental gaffs, will get you up to full power in no time. Playing the basic game (expansion stuff disabled) on Easy is the best way to ease in, and even then, expect to die a lot of horrible deaths as you learn the basics.
It's not complicated to play. It's complicated to survive long. Tutorial shows how to move people, fire weapons, power things on/off. That's pretty much the game and that alone can get you fairly far. The interface is actually surprisingly good and easy to see/control. But in practice when your ship is on fire, lights out, oxygen dropping.... You'll die a couple times... It's a game of trial and error really. Took me a couple deaths to figure out to prioritize defense (shields, evasion) before weapons for example. Couple deaths to figure out boarding parties. Fires. Etc.
Also - and this is just as true for the PC version as the ios version: The pause button is your best friend. Any scenario you face, will be that much easier if you approach it from a tactical standpoint.
I just unlocked the mantis cruiser. I remember reading that there's a 4-people teleport, but my ship teleport can only transport 2 people at a time. Am I missing something?
Yeah, unlock ship B and it has 4 ppl teleporter, starts with 2 shields, and drones. no weapons and only 2 crew though.

I made it to sector 6, my engi ship was pretty maxed out. 3 shields, Ion cannon, glaive beam, combat drone and defence drone but only two crew members because of some poor earlier decision making. Then 4 people warp in and that was the end. Was a good run. Glaive beam is op.
Finally won with Federation Cruiser. Took multiple runs, I suck at this. On easy too, taking heavy damage, lost two of my guys at end, still on flagship :'(
Pardon my ignorance but what is that eighth icon of main ship systems? Looks like a single torpedo? Nevermind, looked it up. An Artillery Beam.
I was looking at some YouTube videos and noticed that the PC version has gradients on the UI whereas the iPad doesn't. Wonder why it's not the same. Oh well, maybe in an update.
I just had my best game in a long time, I just KNEW I would be kicking boss ass this time around. Full shield, 5 laser burst weapon, fully upgraded cloak, teleporter, close to max evasion, so I beamed over there and stirred up some shit, crippled his ass hardcore. took out his two main weapons and literally hadnt even taken a scratch. I was set up for an epic victory.
