Hi guys, Things go fast some times. We have gone live on Steam Friday night for PC and Mac. The servers have been glowing since then and we've been busy pouring fresh hamsters into the wheels to make things run fast for all. But we are ready for iOS launch this upcoming week - unless something horrible shows up still!! Then we wait another week to solve issues first. Reception has been love or hate - so give it a spin and see if its a game for you or not. Best Thomas
It's most definitely not like xcom. You will be fighting reskinned mirror images (identical abilities and weapons) of your soldiers, but there will be a lot more of them. Once you find a map you can actually win on (I found two), you'll grind it until you can unlock an upgrade which will then automatically apply to the enemy also. Then you'll keep grinding that map until you unlock another upgrade which will then be available to the enemy at the same time. Occasionally you'll try other maps, die quickly, and then go back to grind the couple that you can actually win in order to fight against the same weapons and troop types that you currently have. Or you can spend real world cash in order to quickly unlock upgrades and weapons which will then instantly be used against you by the enemy. In either case, there's no sense that you've actually accomplished anything. I'd like to say something positive here, but after a few hours and four dozen missions I really can't come up with much. YMMV of course.
The Mac Version felt a little bit unpolished regarding gameplay and graphics. They should have put a little bit more love into their release. Was missing the typical atmosphere. Nonetheless waiting for the iOS versions.
I have been having a blast with this game! It is true that some missions can be hard, but the more I play the more I learn about using different tactics. I now have 4 soldiers in my group. I gave one soldier +10 armour and keep him in cover as he moves forward to spot the enemy. Keeping him in cover ensures low damage when he gets hit and it comes off the armor first before his health starts to deplete. This spotter has a small arms Falcon that does 47 damage at close range. This is perfect to greatly injure the newly spotted enemy for my sniper to finish them off. If he spots two or more enemies close together, I lob in a grenade that kills one enemy instantly and greatly wounds the others. I keep my medic close to heal my spotter if he gets into trouble. My medic has a high "camo" rating making him hard to spot. This would make him a good spotter as well. He also has a dual role in close quarters combat. Being hard to spot and using a silent weapon makes the enemy unaware of where he is firing from. This way the enemy cannot return fire....Very Useful. His close quarters skill also allows him to lob stun grenades at the enemy , doing 20 damage and delaying their next turn phase. I use a sniper to pick off the enemy located by my spotter being careful to keep him out of the range of enemy who could return fire. The sniper needs spotters to be effective. In one mission ,I only had one spotter with a hair of health left and my sniper. I could not risk having the spotter fire at the enemy in the building as he would have been killed by enemy return fire. I knew at least two more enemies were inside but needed to spot them for my sniper to take his shot. I had my spotter run to the window and then to the left side of the window out of harms way. This still allowed him to spot the enemy and not be in a position to be shot. This is just one example of a very useful tactic I found out on my own. I' m sure there will be plenty more to come. I use my sub machine gunner to shoot multiple enemies in his firing arc. Just be careful not to hit your own men with friendly fire. I acquired a perk that narrows his firing arc and makes his short range damage reach one more square. This is great to get off a more powerful shot and to avoid hitting one of your own men close to the enemy. This gunner protects my medic and sniper , taking enemy fire instead of them. Once the main outside enemy force is killed ,I move my spotter and gunner up to flush out or spot enemies hiding in buildings. Always keep them in cover as they move up , as they will only take half the usual damage this way. The medic follows close behind to heal and my sniper fires from afar as enemies are located by the three advancing team members. There are many perks you can acquire for your team as well. The ability for your team member to automatically fire at any enemy entering his overmatch area is a great one. Or the one that gives your close combat specialist the ability to run three more spaces to get in close to kill with his knife. And yes, the moment I acquired a medic or close quarters fighter the enemy acquired them as well. This made the game more challenging as I had to change tactics. When enemies are moving, pay attention to the weapons and equipment they have. Pay attention to the range and power of their weapons. If your health is low, getting close for a powerful shot on a close quarters specialist is a bad idea. Chances are , you may not kill him and his knife will kill you instantly. Pick them off from a distance or use a fully healed unit to engage him and use a sniper to finish him off. Kill medics as soon as you spot then to put the enemy at a disadvantage. Get enemies in a crossfire for added damage. And always move up in cover if possible. When next to a building, kill the men with handguns or machine guns first. The enemies with rifles will do less damage up close. Kill them last. Always shoot the enemy not in cover first as they will receive full damage. I'm currently working towards a one kill head shot perk for my sniper and getting my men trained in another proficiency. Thanks
No iPhone 5 support... Makes me sad. I loved TS Undead. My favorite ios game to date. Please. PLEASE. Please add the 4 inch widescreen support soon. Good luck! EDIT: F2P The mechanics do not work as well as TS UR. I would much rather pay for a complete game than one that is a broken free game. Especially since I spent hours...HOURS playing TS. I'm still optimistic.
Strange, I always get a black screen and have to reload the game after finishing a mission. Where does a option to add more than 2 units in the campaign?
