Sounds like Freeverse did the wrong thing:

"While the Japanese government sponsors illegal whaling, all incomes from sales of games developed by Strange Flavour in Japan will be donated directly to the Sea Shepherd [A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION] Conservation Society.

    www.seashepherd.org"

They wanted to sound cool maybe, or politically correct (?), but in fact they're getting a really bad reputation in Japan.

For example, now SlotZ Racer is rated 1 and 1/2 stars in the App Store and Japanese users boycotts the company.

Is it good to involve politics in videogames?

Do you know who Sea Shepherd are?
Do you know what they do?

I think you and the guys at Freeverse don't know about this stuff.
So, please research and come back here to comment.

There are good ways to protest, and there are bad ways.

Those on the Sea Shepherd prefer to use the latter.

It is never a good idea to involve politics in your company UNLESS your company is one that was designed to be on a side from the get go. But a company like Freeverse that is trying to sell as many copies of these games as possible shouldn't limit themselves to one demographic.

Poor choice IMO and I won't be purchasing anything from them, as I would die before I dime of mine gets sent to those anti-whalers.

It's interesting that all profits from Japan, specifically, are going towards the organization. In any other country it is possible that the organization would be looked well upon, but in Japan it is easy to see why they are considered terrorists. So, they're basically telling Japanese customers that if they buy the game they're giving money to terrorists... that's not a good marketing strategy (at least not in Japan)...

ok, so I respect your opinion.
As someone said, I think it's not smart to show Japanese what's your opinion about this.

It's like if some Afghani release an app and say "hey guys, we'll donate all our American incomes to Al Qaida!"

Clearly it's not the best strategy.

I guess they need a better Marketing Manager at Freeverse.
I started to think about this when I saw their awful logo design :)

Good job Freeverse! I 100% support you guys!
Whaling is illegal and the Japanese are only allotted so many whales to kill a year for "research" purposes. Not for consumption. Well what happens is they actually kill and process and package the whale meat right on the boats where they kill them. Under the guise of studying the whales. When in reality the minute the boats are docked back in Japan, the meat is offloaded and sold right into the local markets. The only thing they study is how to kill and clean em. Now don't get me wrong I am not a vegan or a peta lover, but I do know that the whale populations are suffering do to the eating habits of the Japanese. Eventually they will become extinct if nobody does anything about it. I think orginizations like the Sea sheperds are also illegal because they try boarding boats and ramming them etc. but if nobody tries to stop them then they will just continue on killing them to the point of extinction...

wait, please wait. never, never compare sea shepherds to Al Qaida. it's totally inappropriate.
