Actually, gameloft had this promotion, where they made a game free for 2 hours, I managed to pick up their strategy game, and hero of sparta during that time. Lets hope Civilization Revolution isn't free, it's already suffering from reviews, atleast last time I checked.
I think anything would be better then split/second. I mean it's from Disney. When have they ever made a good game? Let me rephase.. Disney has yet to make a game that I liked to play. So if it's S/S it's a double whammy for me as I really hate racing games.
A couple points: 1.) I'd be SHOCKED if this is an EA or Gameloft title. What benefit is it to them to promote through FAAD or another similar place? Things like FAAD are for more indie type developers having a hard time getting copies sold. I highly doubt EA or Gameloft have that problem and get more than enough promotion as it is. 2.) Never before has a hyped up FAAD title lived up to people's expectations. Every time they hype up a game, people freak out and they end up disappointed when another indie overpriced title that nobody has heard of it dropped to free. Maybe this time will be different, but don't get your hopes up. With that said, Split Second sounds like the only reasonable bigger title that might see the drop.
#1: You won't be shocked. The chances of a EA/Gameloft title going on sale would actually be in negative percentages. Big devs like them aren't going to a third party to promote their software. #2: All too true unfortunately.
I can't even remember most of their hyped up titles except for maybe Scarface. I've gotten some good games off of there and the OF free game promotion, but it's always something that gets little to no promotion. With that said, it just doesn't make any sense for a higher quality title (or a big developer with marketing resources and every iPhone blog/site itching to write about their games) to actually get an FAAD promotion. That's why I always laugh when I read comments on the FAAD site where people ask for games like Prince of Persia or Madden. Very unlikely that ever happens.
So yeah, with 4 hours left, what I know: It's not gonna be EA/Gameloft. Proof: Logic. It's probably gonna be Split/Second. Proof: Bad high-priced game, FAAD loves to hype up bad high-priced games. FAAD has promoted 2-3 Disney apps already. There *MIGHT* be a chance it is X2 Soccer. Proof: This is going to be the highest expectation we could have, since all other $6.99 are pretty much EA/Gameloft. Also, with the World Cup over, 2011 already in the works, X2 Soccer 2010 really has no more appeal for either the developer or customers.
Actually, Gameloft gave away Let's Golf through Apple over Christmas. Obviously it won't be a Gameloft title, still, but kinda destroys your point a bit.
Well, that's kind of different. Cause Apple is kind of, you know, the platform company Gameloft publishes through. So I guess it's third party, but not quite. I'm too tired right now to explain my thoughts, and the previous couple sentences were probably crap, but basically Apple is kind of different from FAAD/OF's game of the day/Free App Calendar/etc.
