    I'll add my results: http://bit.ly/9HiFVe
Very positive, wish I could do it over again. This promo was synced with OpenFeint.

Kris above really did an amazing study for us, because he was able to make a direct comparison between going free without FAAD and Going Free with FAAD. He did combined it with Openfeint but FAAD pushed iBomber to #2 Low Grave Racer to #7 today's app MyTP Snowboarding (#1 sports,#15 total apps) and more to the top alone!...we only did 3 run in collaboration with Openfeint.

What happens is the site is pretty much a catalyst we have ~6000 twitter followers, an average of 50K daily visitors (http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/freeappaday.com#trafficstats)and a bunch of sites are plugged in to FAAD which enhances the viral spread of the promoted apps!

Both Pollywog and iBomber had anemic sales for instance, they were out of the top 200, they ran a FAAD campaign and they are now making a lot more downloads on the paid section that they did before. The first spike on the chart below represents the beginning of the FAAD campaign, the drop is when they switched to paid but then they remained at healthy download levels

    http://www.topappcharts.com/search.php?string=pollywog&show=search&price=any
    http://www.topappcharts.com/316774112/app-details-ibomber.php

As far as Valet Hero, Navy Patrol, iBomber, Cocoto Kart etc.. we are now all generating a lot of revenue through in-apps on a daily basis.

Not much else to say except that the system works!

Pleased to hear it. If it works then I'll gladly support it. Any criticism I posted here was only out of concern, but it's good to see things have turned out this way. I hope the success stories keep coming :)

i am not supporting those free promotion, i feel it is promoting app from "bottom" where app should be promoted by "top", i dont see any glory to promote an app by giving it away, i will really much appreciate the work of promoting good app with a price on it, good quality at a reasonnable price.

If the flow of free app continue like this, customers will really start to think app are free..developer doing this may get some benefit now but at the expense of very dark future...

of course, it is just me.

It's amazing that people are complaining about a service that makes your no name app get to the top of the charts where the world can see it and buy it when it goes back to paid status. Also freeappaday is running like a business, quit trying to get free stuff all the time. It sounds like the indie developers are the ones thinking they can get everything for free.
If you don't like freeappaday then don't use it but if your app is getting no love or attention that is what the service is for.
Quit complaining and get over it!

One more thing, we give 2 to 3 times/month a free pass for Toucharcade devs and Pollywog for instance had one of these spots and so far looking at his numbers he is quiet happy with the promo, so as long as your app is polished I'll be happy to promote it for zero!

Tiki Totems was yesterday's FAAD, but we agreed with them to keep it free for some extra time

Over the first day we had almost 100.000 downloads, and skyrocketed up to top 13 free APPS onm the US store. which is a great result for just 24 hours

Free game of course doesn't earn, but the increased interest in our company and our other games also resulted in increased sales, that almost cover the gap

So overall - we're really happy about the whole promotion thing

Oh, and just like with geoFighter - we didn't pay for it, great kudos to ICS for that

Does anyone know why the freeappaday let a developer use the free version of their app as the free app? Seems like a waste of time and a definite way of turning people off of the web site.

The dev had a mishap! if you read the comments on our site you will see what happened to him! And FAAD is a discovery platform so I am also planning on having already free app promote on the site as well!

Yes if you want a freebie you should go to FreeAppCalendar.com! Well we're planning on giving 50 to 70k T-shirts hopefully for free worse case scenario at cost! so we are actually investing in further promoting the site and we're also going to have a localized version of the site as well for each major country and that involves more team more infrastructure etc...and all that work benefits our developer partner as well.....It simply makes so much sense to me......

  19. Me too! The hosting package I am on has "unlimited bandwidth", and I have been assured that it can handle 100,000+ visitors per day, so we will see.

If not, it should be an easy upgrade to a more powerful server.

Mindjuice this is your twitter post:

"freeAppCalendar.com will launch in 7-10 days! On our site YOU get to VOTE each week for which apps go FREE! Pls follow & RT!"

If you do that no one will get try to purchase any of your dev apps, people will just sit there and wait for one of the app to be free and it actually does not help any of your developers!
