Why do I think TapThePic is good and unique? Because it is a game designed specifically to be interesting to 1 year old toddlers! Big companies don't do such games because of small market but I don't care - I believe youngest children deserve to play nice games too. And independent developers are the ones who can and should make more apps like TapThePic. I made TapThePic together with my 1 year old daughter. I was watching her play on iPhone and iPad, I've seen what she likes and what she does not like and designed game to be interesting to her personally. She loves it. And as it turned out - other children and even parents love it too.The game is very nice looking and extremely simple - exactly what toddlers want. 1 year old children don't need too much interaction, they don't need scores, they don't need menu etc - they just want beautiful pictures, animations, sounds and nice music. So, TapThePic is all about that. I'm not sure if TapThePic will be interesting for 3 year old children but 1 year old toddlers love it. And game is free - just try it out. My daughter (Who loves 'Mr Tumble') loved the simple tumble tap game (someone copied the one they had in the program) where you simply touch 3 different circles to show your own pictures This sounds really good that you can add your own pictures, plus kids seem to love bubbles ! Oleg Fedorov Member Feb 5, 2014 7 0 0 #5 Oleg Fedorov, Feb 5, 2014 Yes - I love this feature too! But I don't know how to explain it to users I really love to add my own images and sounds and give iPad to daughter - she is very excited to try it out. And I could use it even in future to teach her stuff, like alphabet - just put images of letters and record yourself "A", "B", "C" etc and that's it - you got alphabet learning game! But it looks like people don't get it and don't use this feature, which makes me sad Mene ACCOUNT CLOSED: Officially Quit iO Mar 18, 2012 1,873 0 0 #6 Mene, Feb 8, 2014 Games for a 1 year old? I'm sorry but I find that totally ridiculous. I'm not anti-child or anti-technology but I would personally not let any child of mine play with an iPod/iPod until they are far far older. Until then, they'd get traditional 'toys' Snotty128 Well-Known Member Jul 26, 2013 654 0 0 #7 Snotty128, Feb 8, 2014 I've downloaded this and will see how my 9 month old gets on with it. He loves to tap on my ipad when he is sitting with me, and he follows motion on the screen, especially when he is doing pinch and zoom type movements with his hand. Obviously he uses all his fingers at once and the ipad registers them all! Ive had to disable multitasking gestures in my settings. I've tried him with other simple apps but he gets stuck in menus and the like. Try telling that to a 1 year old! They love to imitate their parents, so if you're on the ipad then they will want to tap on it or chew on it too. If you're planning on having a technology blackout during family time, then I respect that's how you want to bring up your family and I wish you the best of luck. Oleg Fedorov Member Feb 5, 2014 7 0 0 #8 Oleg Fedorov, Feb 8, 2014 I know some people have this opinion and I respect that. Not everyone allows kids to use smart devices. It's your kids so you have right to limit them. I personally find it hard to not to give to my child what I use myself. She just demands when she sees something new in my hands Oleg Fedorov Member Feb 5, 2014 7 0 0 #9 Oleg Fedorov, Feb 8, 2014 That's exactly was my daughter's problem - other apps were too complex. And most annoying part for her is inApp purchases which are accessible from menu - she just easily get stuck there with modal message box blocking screen. I would appreciate any feedback you can give to me. I have submitted new Premium version to app store where everything is unlocked from the start - I did it just to be able to thank for feedback by giving free Promo Codes. On the other hand, sometimes it's important to move on with the rest of the world. IPads are being used even in elementary school now. I've seen it in preschool too! And; while I hate it & believe that it has a lot to do with big companies marketing as young as possible to make even more $$$, it's happening none the less. A couple schools here where I live have added IPad as a school supply in 2nd grade. ( I'm in the US) this isn't all schools. When they asked this, there was a huge outcry because not everyone could afford to send an IPad to school. And the school definitely will not take responsibility if the tablet gets broken or stolen. So, when is it to early to get your baby/child used to technology? I don't know. 15 years ago, children around 5 yrs, were sent off to school to learn basics. 10 yrs ago, it was expected that they already knew some of those basics before starting, 5 yrs ago, more preschools, for ages 3 & 4 opened so that they'd have even more basics known before starting school. Today, sometimes that includes computers as well.( don't quote me on the times or ages, just an approximate to make a point) Also, the incident of special needs children entering school is higher then ever. It is an epidemic. Autism, FAS, not otherwise specified pervasive developmental disorders...... For them, the earlier they can start learning, the better! I think this is a great program to have out there. I would actually add information about the importance of limiting the amount of time on electronic devices, computers & television on growing brains so not to encourage using the program as a 'babysitter.' Another issue with kids going to school. Their developing brains are so exposed to television that they have PTSD as a kid! Their brains can't decipher between real and not real when it comes to tv. Ie: murder, shooting, screaming, ... Also, it's important to know that the development of reactive attachment disorder is extremely high. I believe that sometimes, when a baby or toddler is on devices, tv, etc too long, they get less of that important bonding that is necessary at that age. Parents have great intentions, wanting the best for their baby. Also, unfortunately in this economy more households of both parents are having to work. I did. So kids being put at a babysitter or daycare all day, doesn't help either. Early testing has shown that the amount of time babies & toddlers are spending on electronic devices is creating major issues in their cognitive development. So supervision & limits are so very important. I love the idea of adding your own pictures. Just have a button in the corner that says 'for parents.' Adding pics of the parent(s) is great for bonding. Especially in today's world. Obviously the early learning to me is a benefit. I think with parental supervision, that the early learning apps are fantastic. This one in particular looks very nice. Their is a lot of potential here to change it up for different ages. Feel proud of yourself for what you've accomplished here! - Lavender Oleg Fedorov Member Feb 5, 2014 7 0 0 #11 Oleg Fedorov, Feb 8, 2014 Thank you! I really agree that bonding with parents is what really maters but I also believe that iPad does not prevent this bonding. A nice educational app like yours, or a fast paced, action shooter with blood, zombies.. Etc..... Our tv is very limited. No tv on school nights. Only approved ( by me) TV on the weekends.
