If I recall correctly, it does install a profile, but it's been awhile, so if I am wrong please someone post and correct me. Give it a try, it's not quite the way it was a couple of months ago cause before they had all apps worth 250 and now the points are all varied so you can't get gcs as quickly, but for now, AC and GE are the best and most reliable services around. And if you are familiar with FMA, AC almost seems like a clone of it...
Something about my account being "compromised" due to "irregular behavior". Anyway I spent an hour or so with a couple of iDevices (different accounts mind you) racking up as many points as possible and redeemed it for cash they send to your PayPal account. 150 points = $0.15. Might be worthwhile if you don't have anything better to do (or if you're a total app slut like me and every single cent helps your app economy lol).
We should really start a social group on TA for app sluts. My girlfriend probably thinks I would have her turn tricks for 5 dollar...apps. Close, but a 2.99 app would be fine No...she doesn't know Touch Arcade exists.
I have never had a problem with AR but i still haven't heard back from GE about missing points and its been over a week so i'm done with that Oh and i might be the president of that new club
Well, I think the term app gigolo might be better for our club, and I volunteer to be pr director. Thanks!
Hi guys do you use app trailer? I find this new clone app.. They promise itunes card but if you try i'll hope our review before use it...
That itself is not so great try there website AR instead much better check the tread for the full name or PM for details
Hey everyone, I was reading through the thread and there are a ton of questions you all have. I actually work at FMA, so decided to answer some questions. I can't do too much with specific support problems, but I will try to do my best to see what is going wrong. You can ask me about apps, contests, whatever. I'll answer some questions and clear things up. I'm doing this at work, so I can't monitor this thread all the time, but I'll do what I can. So, shoot! This is all unofficial so anything goes, but obviously I can't answer everything. I also can't respond to everyone either, so sorry if you get overlooked. Also, since I guess I am representing FMA in a way, I'll probably be more polite than I usually would be on an anonymous board, but you guys go ahead and say anything you want to me.
Well I just really enjoyed the FMA of old, with actual apps to earn instead of gift cards. And it seems you guys are more focused on FB to promote the site, and it takes a really really long time to get enough points to redeem anything. I remember when FMA was initially created, and I could get several apps in a matter of days, but now it takes many weeks to just get a $5 gift card. I suppose you found the way to make the most profit, so nothing against FMA,but now I'm starting to use other sites that offer more points and has an easier system to earn them. Also, every email I've sent hasn't ever been responded to, so I guess that area could use some improvement as well .
Yeah, we wish we could offer paid apps as well (though you can still buy them with gift cards, even though we realize that takes a while, the smallest giftcard apple offers is $10). Apple basically put a stop to that, so we had to phase that out in July. We are still working on getting paid apps back, and there may be some progress in that soon. It's true FB is our focus for promotions, though some of them now incorporate FMA directly. For instance, last week we had the golden ticket contest where randomly a golden ticket app would appear on someones offer wall and they get $50 dollar itunes card free. So we are trying to make more contests and promotions that non-FB users can still access. About the emails, are you sure you sent them to the support email and not the business one? You should have at least gotten a macro'd reply (we do that to sort the emails then respond one by one). Oh and an interesting thing for you all that might change this industry a bit, check out the new rules from apple. http://www.pocketgamer.biz/r/PG.Biz/App+Store/news.asp?c=45364 Speculation time! (FMA isn't an App so this doesn't affect us *we assume*)
Ahh I see. Maybe I'll get back into FMA and the contests then, as I didn't see that one. And maybe that was my problem, I'll make sure to send to the right email then. Oh and will the new policy actually affect FMA because it's Internet based? If it does, it could potentially affect FAD, AR, AC, and GE as well. Thanks for addressing my questions!
No problem (Columbus day is pretty slow, no day off for us though). Internet based services should still be fine. This seems to be targeting things within the app store that take away 'the App Store experience'. So probably things like Appoday or Appshopper. The thing with Apple is that you never quite know what they are going to do, or what their intent really is with their rules. We should have an easier way of notifying FMA users of new Apps coming out to the wall in a while. Working on a blog that will give some sort of timeline so people know when to check back. But in this industry, sometimes we don't even know something is going on to our wall until a few hours before it goes live. The thing about our wall is that when it goes live, each App only has a limited number of downloads. So really popular apps appear for a short time because everyone downloads them immediately. A good tip though, our main launch days are Thursday - Sun. We get some random monday launches as well. So try to check back around friday and hopefully you can catch things. This week is pretty slow for some reason (a lot of apps blew their load last weekend, so to speak), but next week will pick up again. At the risk of sounding like I am advertising too much, we did change all social shares to 200 credits a few weeks ago, so there is always that if you don't have anything to download.
agree must have ran out of supporters sucks seems like free only last a short time from getting free offers in past-years ago. wont use it anymore, until i see an update that the frees are back.
GE, I think the sponsors realized it was really stupid for them to give away their games for free with no reviews required so that is why it seems to have stopped. A developer gets tons of good reviews doing it the other way with review required so it makes no sense for them to do it the free download way.
I noticed that some apps aren't appearing in my fma? It showed three, then after I downloaded one the other two disappeared, but on someone else's phone they all show. Has this happened to anyone else?
Could you please get someone to look into why I can't redeem my credits? I can earn them fine (sometimes the sponsor app won't disappear after getting credits) but I can't use them on ANY redeemable gift card there, such as $1, $2, $5, $10 Amazon Cards nor $10 iTunes Card. The photo attached is the error I'm getting when trying to redeem credits on my iPhone 5. I've did absolutely everything to hopefully find a fix (complete phone wipe/restore, email 3x and got automated responses, etc), and nothing came out of it. My tracking/referral code is 0bd353a4
I guess my main question and many others too would agree is why the slowdown of sponsors and reduction of points for apps nowadays. I realize the shift to gcs cause Apple kind of wants it that way, but it is getting hard to get points on your service nowadays. In the past, I always felt confident that I would get a $10 itunes gc in about a month, then there was that one weird period that everyone was thinking that FMA was shutting down, and after that, it took about 2 months to get a $10 gc, nowadays in the last month or so, it seems like the time now is almost approaching about 4 months. I switched over to Amazon gcs, so I don't care as much about the reduction of points since it doesn't take long to redeem a $1 amazon gc, but I feel sorry for people that have to wait 2-4 months to get a $10 gc and have to constantly sorry about losing points if something should happen to FMA, disk crash, stolen ipad, etc. So my main question was, why the slowdown with sponsors. Why the reduction of points earned for downloading an app, and do think it will get any better? Edit: I forgot another important thing, those download and start apps never award points, can you take those off, or we all doing something wrong?
Hey Dorgi, Thanks giving up some of your time to talk to us! The idea behind FMA is really ingenious! One question/feature request I had: Is there a way for you to award check in points? It doesn't have to be a lot of points, but it would be a nice bonus for when there are no available apps. Also, how is it that other webapps/websites similar to yours are still able to to offer codes for paid apps still? Were you guys contacted by Apple about it, or is this a guideline that's documented somewhere?
