I've mentioned this before, but I stopped using FMA due to the time it takes nowadays to save uP for a gift card. I've been very pleasantly surprised with gnome escape. First, you don't need to install a profile on your phone. Second, they have freebies that GIVE YOU points. For example, I've gotten points for downloading Peggle for free, and, well, it isn't free. Third, It's easy to get enough points to spend on stuff you want. 150 or 200 points for downloading, same for reviewing. I don't quite understand how they come up with the redemption prices either. I picked up Street Fighter Volt (while not on sale) and Brandnew Boy (a little known indie release that goes for 3.99) for 1250 points each. Ignore the surveys; you can also get points by voting on apps. 50 per app voted on. The main problem is that the site is confusing and not mobile-friendly. On the positive side, they are the only promotional app service I've come across who promptly responds to emails. IMO, I would take the opportunity to use Gnome Escape while it's still in beta. It reminds me of the fun I had back when FMA still offered great apps, like Sky Supremacy, MvC2, Max Payne, etc. for 700-800 points.
so true.. GE is great. three cons though first, no gift cards at all. so you can't redeem just any app you want. second, you need to work a little bit with writing the reviews and all. this also causes a lot of really uninformative reviews by, obviously, GE users. I get it, it's a trade-off, you get paid to vote basically. that's how the world works, why should the app store be any different. third, wish they come up with the mobile friendly version already. will be hella useful.
Well...I guess I'm the exception. I haven't left any gmfalse reviews, and I've actually fooled around with every app for which I left a review. 90% of my reviews have been three paragraphs or so. I've decided I don't want to mess around with device profiles anymore, so that means FAD is a no go; I'm not starting from scratch with FMA, and I don't feel like spending another few hours doing research to check out if Appcasher is on the up and up. Gnome Escape has one great thing going for it; you get paid apps for free in the process of using their site. If you want more, you can review other apps like I've been doing, but even if you don't, you can just get games like Peggle, Modern Warfare 3, NOVA 3, etc. for free.
Appcasher is legit, and I find it the best one of the bunch. It has the most sponsors by far, and you can earn a lot of gcs in a very short time. Just two days ago, in ONE DAY got enought credit for a $10 gc. That took me about 90 minutes or so. FMA, I am getting a $10 gc about one every 30 DAYS. Only downside to Appcasher is that they take a while to redeem gcs, but so far they have done so without any problems. FAD is ok, but they don't get a lot of sponsors. They have this new sponsors listing, so maybe things will change, but in the past, sponsors were scarse. The nice thing about it is you get a lot of points sometimes for one app, sometimes 1000 points which is equal to a 99 cent app. Gnome escape is very different from the others. The free paid apps they give away are great, sometimes you get great apps like peggle or modern combat 3 for free! But you can't get gcs, and the apps they have for redeeming are usually old, but the selection is good. You also have to do reviews for the points, so it takes more legwork than the others. I think all 4 services are legit, and all worthwhile, but in reality, it's much better working a minimum wage job than do it, hehe. Honestly, you probably make less than $5 an hour for the time you put in, but heck, it is kind of fun, and for some like me, it's kind of a hobby to download and test all kinds of games, so it is worth it overall. The only thing that sucks is that the services usually don't let you get credits for the same sponsors. A lot of sponsors use multiple services, so it gets really confusing sometimes if you will or won't get points from an app, so this does add some headache to the process.
Wow, that's a detailed and correct description of the four major services we have to get apps/GCs at the moment. Thank you Connector EDIT: I also choose Appcasher as the best one, cause you make points in no time...unlucklily comparing with the situation at the first days of this service, I see apps giving less points now (well, not all of them, but many) from 250 points to 150, 90 or less. When I had joined Appcasher all the apps gave 250 points and I had reedemed 2 amazon GCs of 10$ in few days. It's probably the price to pay for the popularity (like happened in FAD and FMA).
There are a couple ways of getting grooms on Gnome escape. First, there are the free downloads which give you 150 points. These are the best since you get points, a free program (these are usually paid apps), and you don't have to do anything. Then there are apps you download, and you have to review. After you review, then you go back to Gnome Escape, hit the 200 points app review button, then they will check it and give you 200 points for every app. This is the main way of getting points. I think maybe you are just doing the free 150 point apps, check the other 200 point apps to see if you are getting points for them. For those you have to do reviews on itunes. There is another section for points called free hits, that do oddball things like surveys, download apps to your pc, and subscribe to pay services, etc. You can also get points for those too. Well, since I spent the time to explain a lot of the services, anyone else got any final questions?
Yup, hit it or quit it, 50 points each. I think I lucked out with Brandnew Boy; it's 3.99 but when I searched for it they still had the sale description up, which lists it as .99. 1250 is the de facto GE rate for a .99 game; a 4 dollar app is closer to 4000 points. Oh yeah...I relented and joined FreeAppDaily. At least you can decide whether you want to save up for a GC or grab an app right away. I just don't have the patience anymore to fool around with FMA for a few months before being able to cash in (and I don't use Amazon).
As for Appcasher...can you DL apps you've DL'ed in the past? That's another good thing about Gnome Escape. With FAD and FMA, you sort of have to decide which way your going to go, since they use device profiles to ensure one DL per device. Eh, I don't care about the time involved. My line of work essentially forces me to work during daylight, and with the weather in South Florida, I often have to reschedule anyway. Besides, we're all app addicts here, right? . I've spent thousands of bucks on apps...I'll take free when it's offered. Then again, I've seriously been scaling back, what with the unsavory tactics I find many devs resorting to nowadays.
I think appcasher won't let you get points for apps you got points for on other services. If you downloaded it before, but didn't use another service, I think it is ok. Yeah, we're app addicts, must nope we don't have to go to a rehab center where they put us in straight jackets and strip us of our ios devices. That would be tough.
Yeah, Greyskull, I tried to do voting, and I didn't seem to get points, do they show up way later? On GE.
GE is sonetimes blazingly fast, sometimes slow as molasses. It should show up today, I'm guessing. I've Gotten points for reviews anywhere from several days later to almost instantly. You can always email them, they've always responded to me, even when I was just being impatient. When Asphalt 7 was a featured download, I tried DL'ing it too soon after I had last used the AppStore. I was credited with the points, but didn't get the app. I shot them an email and they sent me a new promo/gift code. As I've said, they've even followed up on my "thanks for the help" emails, thanking me for thanking them! Really superb customer service, which I usually don't look for when I'm getting free ****. I guess that's one of the reasons I'm a bit of a Gnome Escape evangelist. Real people seem to run the site. Look farther back in the thread and I was too concerned about privacy issues to try it. They don't even install a device profile, though. When I give a review, I can do it from my phone or PC, it doesn't matter. iPad app? Just DL to the PC, leave a review, and get credited both for the download and the review. If they ever don't give you credits, you just shoot them an email and it's all good. You can get a significant portion of the AppStore via redemption, too. I think they are just a bit slow in indexing the AppStore, hence picking up a 3.99 game for .99 worth of credits. I started using FAD, and I see Modern Combat 3 as a special deal for cashing in your points. I EARNED points for downloading it from GE. On the other hand, GE is tied to your AppStore reviewer nickname, not your device, so you can't pull the old FMA download to 5 devices trick. ...and the website is far from complete. There are links that lead nowhere, etc...but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now as they are still in Beta. It's kind of funny, what w/all the questions regarding Gnome Escape directed at me, when It was others who finally convinced me to take the leap . BTW, I have checked the encryption, and, while on the site, you are never redirected outside of the encrypted connection. I'm done with the 5 device tango...most services give you enough points to cash in immediately for something good; that's the hook. It's the time after the first redemption that can seem to take forever. At least with Gnome Escape, you can grab paid freebies along the way.
Sorry to be the grammar bitch here, but... Modern Warfare 3? Also, why the f*** won't FAD update their iTunes gift cards? I'm so close to earning and with tapjoy and the other I could probably reach it if I had motivation, but no, no gift cards...
Little new answer: are the urls for sponsorpay app of fad available? I try a lot of hour but every time the system tell me "url non valid" only in my case?
