Why I say you are contradicting is so: What it installs is a mere profile (a cert) really which reads the udid. That is all. Not 'data' per say. These profiles are the exact same profile which are found in beta apps which for that purpose track if your udid has been approved to use the said beta. But you are right on this "Since clearing cookies/certificates removes functionality and re-authenticating (reinstalling the certificate) restores functionality". I think the main debate is whether FMA is installing data or not which cause privacy concerns. The term 'installing data' will sound suspicious to the masses is what I actually meant to say.
Sorry, I believe you are wrong. FMA is ignorant of whether you have downloaded an app outside of FMA before. FMA only keeps track of sponsor offers you have attempted/completed. Case in point - say you installed app XYZ independent of FMA 10 months ago, ran it and deleted it. Then today XYZ appears as a sponsor app on FMA. FMA offers you the opportunity to download it, but you will not get credit for it because you already installed and ran it before. FMA has no possible way of determining this from your UDID. I believe that this could only determined by the app itself, the question is how? If a) the app registers your UDID on their server when it is run (very unlikely) OR b) the app leave a breadcrumb in the form of an installation/execution log. Edit: PS - Yes, you can use UDID Faker for Test Flight, via Safari. But in my experience Test Flight can also be aware of the device hardware profile so a Test Flight account created for an iPhone 4 cannot be spoofed on a IPod Touch.
I've heard that before but it's definitely not true. I downloaded on April 25th the FMA sponsor app Snoopy’s Street Fair and got the credits although I had it installed, run (30 minutes) and deleted before (when it came out in November '11; it's a Freemium app). Other than Snoopie's I hadn't any of the sponsor apps before (watching FMY for four weeks now).
How FMA works from FMA themselves Look, this is STRAIGHT from FMA themselves. I did not make any of this up or include any false information. I may have not been clear, and I can understand that, but this is how FMA works. Q: What are you doing with the "FreeMyApps Settings" page? A: This page uses Apple's system to ensure the process is simple and safe. We require your phone's device ID so we can then recognize this same device code when you open one of our sponsors' apps for the first time. That way we can give you a paid app for free! Q: Do you change the settings on my phone - it says you will? A: We do not make any changes to your phone's settings, despite the scary warning [see below]. The Install Profile is an Apple tool that is generally used for another purpose, where company administrators are changing over a large number of phones all at once. We are stuck with the warning since we need to use the tool, but again we do not change any settings. Q: What do you do with my phone device ID? A: We use it to confirm that you downloaded and tried our sponsor apps. We do not share this information with any third parties. Q: How do I remove my profile? A: The device profile gets removed automatically after the enrollment process. To completely disassociate it from FreeMyApps, go to Settings > Safari > Delete Cookies So I say again, nothing is left on your device when you enroll with FMA and that only website cookies will be left on your device to display information to you from the server. If you delete the cookies and then go back to the website, all of your information will be there because the of the server, which puts a new cookie on your device. That is as clear as I can be.
Goodreader is back! But only the iPhone version boooo They're both the same price and both versions used to be offered so hopefully iPad version returns soon
I just tried to buy it on my iPad as that's the only device that has enough points, and it continues to say it's unavailable currently even though it's still in the list.
I think that when you first start FMA, you are kinda bombarded with apps. When I started I had 10 to d/l. I think he/she is new.
What you are citing is more likely the exception than the rule. Trust me, I have downloaded 100's of apps via Tapjoy and have experienced this with at least a dozen FMA sponsor apps that I already tried with Tapjoy. It's more likely that Snoopy's dev just didn't leave the token FMA looks for when it was first released.
make sure you're not logged in an itunes account so that the appstore prompts you before the code gets redeemed. Just copy paste and give the code as a present from there. (keep in mind codes expire after a certain amount of time).
