I have to say that I believe that FMA is a very legit operation. I've gotten about 5 apps now and am happy with how things went. Once in a while a program doesn't seem to register or on redeeming it says it is out, but overall I'm lucky to have access to this service. I got iphoto this week, but had no time to play with it since I bought some games like crow, slash hd, and creavures. I got 200 more points until I have 2600 for dead space hd, I sure hope it's worth it, it has taken me some time to get this many points.
Go read up on their parent company, Fiksu ... this isnt some shady grey market operation. http://www.fiksu.com/
Ok, thank you for clearing that up for me I was just little bit worried about my privacy, that's all.
I might be going off the subject in here, but is anyone playing the Legend of the Cryptids from FMA? It is very similar to the Zombie Jombee game, but with better graphic arts. I mean I really really like their graphics. PM me to talk about this game and we can join up or something.
Apple is actually phasing out use of the UDID due to privacy concerns. Ive already seen apps updated just to remove use of UDIDs. At some point, though perhaps months away, services like this won't be possible. Anyway, if it's a reputable company, there shouldn't be a problem. From what I've read, problems mainly occur when UDID can be linked to other identifying info such as fb accounts and so forth.
I dont think it's UDID. I've tried changing my UDID and I reloaded the webpage and my points are still there.
Yeah, that's what I been hearing from people lately. Somehow, they track device IDs even when you restore. It's kinda fishy
It might not be UDID, but it is some type of unique identifier so you might as well call it UDID. and the only way to change your UDID, is to fake it with jailbreaking and that might not work perfectly either. EDIT: I should also mention that the FMA website does create cookies that track your points which can be deleted and recovered through safari like any other website, and that it does not affect your privacy or the number of credits you have. The FMA Server gives the website cookies the info and the cookies then use that info on your device to display your credit and app info to you.
Oh well. I love this service though. Compared to Bamboo wallet and Apptrailers, Freemyapps don't rip you off as much. Do two quick offers on Freemyapps and you get a $1 game! Do 1000 offers on other services, get a $1 game. Lol.
Here's a pretty informative article about the state of UDID (written by one of the VPs at Fiksu): http://techcrunch.com/2012/04/22/udid-alternatives/
