Dude! You rock! - I would love to test, based on your sheer use of insanely witty humor... And I have a mad knack for platform games.
I'm not so sure Microsoft and Lionhead would feel the same. I'm sure full-on RPG-ness will be in Fluttermind's future at some point. My brother Simon (lead programmer on Dungeon Keeper) will be starting another company pretty soon, so you never know... ...in the meantime, I hope folks will enjoy Inco and Helios' strange little tale. Speaking of which, I should make a poll about the name along the lines of: What do you think of the name 'Incoboto' a) Incoboto is a name fashioned from the finest win! Don't change it! b) Incoboto is a dumbass name nobody will remember. Change it to 'Spaceboy and Helios' or something I can pronounce! c) Whut? I thought you was selling weasels! I came here by mistake. Do you have any weasels while I'm here? Something like that, anyway.
Dene, FWIW, I like the name Incoboto. I've had a look at your development blog and like what I see (and read) there. Your statement, "Creative decisions are only made convincing and 'real' by acting as if each decision is correct, and maintaining this for a prolonged period of time." reminded me of Philip K. Dick's 1978 lecture, 'How to Build a Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later'. Ever read it? Looking forward to picking Incoboto up the moment you release it.
I love the game and followed your blog super-fevered but the name is not to my liking :/ It's like I'm stumbling over my mouth when I try to pronounce it right Coboto - fine Incobo - fine The two joined together doesn't work for me :/ Anyways apart from that nitpicking, I'd like to chime in and congratulate on this masterpiece that you almost created Just love the stylized characters and environments and the game ideas sound very nice. Wish someone gifted me an IPad
This looks pretty interesting, and would happily partake in helping you beta it. Either way anxiously await to see this hit the store, sounds like a very interesting idea
Nope - not read that. Sounds interesting. I'll go look it up (although PKD tends to make me feel a bit ill and head-spinny!)
Thanks for the feedback. How about separating out the words into two: Inco Boto Does that help? I'm also aware that I'll have issues with people unable to spell it when searching for the game's name in the App Store. This game was designed as a work of creative expression rather than a populist moneymaker (not that those are a bad thing). As such, changing the name is going to be quite a hard move: I'd need to know it is right.
how bout you add something catchy and easy to remember after the name like inco boto:sunboy or something like that so that people can find it, but let the app name that shows up on the main screen be inco boto or incoboto
Hey, news from Dene are always good news. Means we get some crazy cool stuff to play. Incoboto is a fine name, btw.! I just wonder why your wife is kicked you around so much. Love to read your blog, always a good laugh and / or interesting stuff.
Ha. My wife gave me a much deserved kicking because she's incredibly smart and knows how I like to make everything perfect rather than finish things off. I think she'd like to play the damned game rather than see how I've found a cool way to make the planets light properly from the sun's rays... or created a music synth to play incidental tunes... etc. P.S. If anyone wants an idea of the 'mood' of the game - especially musically, it's kind of like this. Note: This is my 'generative' music i.e. generated according to rules, a la Brian Eno. Making music this way is a very good method for creating stand-in music and establishing a mood before I actually get around to composing some proper mood-pieces in the same style (and more importantly stops me wanting to eat my Mac in frustration). Nom.
Lummy. That's quite a surprise: like a duck packing heat. Or something. If anyone has questions, feel free to visit the blog or ask here. Helios or I will do our best to answer. Inco doesn't talk much.
