Well done. The game surely deserve it!. Loving every bit of it so far. Only waiting for MFi support for a even fuller experience!
Frustrating doesn't mean the same thing as "tense." No one with a job and family has the time to replay a bunch of a game because of a developer sticking with an archaic save system that doesn't reflect how games are played on iOS. If the developer says that they don't care, be prepared for a bunch of negative reviews and some people asking for refunds.
Here, here.... You just cant please some of these drama queens out here today lol if you are a casual gamer, there are plenty of quick fix games out there on the store for a shallower experience, so yes... Please do not fill this thread with stupid, stupid gripes about saving! Ive never heard such whiny spoilt i want the moon on a lollypop stick verbal diahorrea then what ive read here lmfao i work 15 hours a day, and have time to game hardcore games, even if its an hour a time, i still get my kicks. I guess my point is how dare people whine for a real premium experience, but then bitch about something so pointless that if people saw this thread they would not read how amazing this game is but just see stupid posts about saving issues??? Wtf enjoy this in the context it was meant to be enjoyed in, and lets show the devs, these premium real gaming experiences will pay off. P.s if i have offended anyone who moaned about the saves, well..... I actually dont give a damn lol all those guys writing positive things and accepting this game for what it is, enjoy and peace out!
Making save points limited, only usable with floppy disks = Allows for more tension, makes each death count = Good design choice Not including a temporary quick-save & quit option = If the game crashes, or you need to multitask on your phone/iPad for any reason, or you have to quit the game due to time constraints = you could lose a ton of progress for no reason = Bad design choice I'm sure the game is going to be awesome, and I can't wait to play it, but I'm not down to lose 30 or more mins of progress because I had to take a phone call or reply to a text. Anyway, has anyone else experienced that screaming face game over thing? I hope it's not jailbreak related.
Here are my initial impressions from playing a little this morning: Absolutely floored by the presentation. Some of the dialogue is "off," but that just gives the title that old school RE feel. The lighting, texture work, and animation are rock solid when not superb. I love all the ambient sounds- her footfalls against floor and carpet are true-to-life. Controls are very well done. I love that with the exclamation point system you don't have to press exactly onto something; just press the screen and voila! I've only had one enemy encounter thus far, but I like the Silent Hill nature of it all. And I'm sure I'll become better accustomed to combat with practice. The save system? I have no qualms so far. Seems fair enough, but we'll see how I feel with time. Lastly, this is a 15-20 dollar XBox Live title, bar none. And I hope we all support this team, because I for damn sure want more from them.
In the first place there is no rule to how a game should or must be played on any platform. Talk about job family and etc, you ain't the only one with those. I have them too. God didn't give me more time either, we all have the same 24hrs a day. It's how you plan and use them. that's all I can say. Not gonna further respond to drift the topic even further than it should
I think it's ridiculous people seem to be complaining about it being a hardcore game? People saying they only play in short bursts shouldn't buy a game like this, that's what flappy bird/angry birds are for. If the only reason you are playing it in short bursts is because it's on mobile then that's nonsense, because if the exact same game was on a console/PC, you'd play it in large sessions. Just treat it like a console game and play it when you have the time, and if you don't have the time, why are you buying a game like this? Top quality games like this are extremely rare on iOS, do you want more like this or more like flappy bird freemium games? The ones complaining clearly want the latter.
I was thinking about picking this up but with the save system I just know it'll ruin it for me. It's a design choice so no knocking their decision, I just usually play iOS games before bed or in short chunks and not being able to save when I have to stop playing just isn't for me.
A quick check on App Annie shows Forgotten Memories have been featured in AppStore home page in 107 countries and 586 times in Best New Games. Keep in mind the game have been released this morning, only few hours. Source: https://www.appannie.com/apps/ios/app/forgotten-memories-alternate/
Doesn't seem to. I played both on iPad and iPhone and it didn't sync. And I see nothing in the options about it.
Btw, how is complaining about people complaining helping? If people are asking for something that can be added as an option without detracting from your own experience, why is it a problem? I understand not wanting the developer to change the game that you are currently enjoying -- but if an option is added and you don't have to use it, doesn't that mean everyone wins? Everyone can enjoy the game? Why does it have to be an exclusive club?
Cant wait to get into this after work... And im looking forward to the promised MFi support on the next update!
You have the MAD CATZ MICRO right? PS:To All the users:can you guys post what MFI CONTROLLERS Are you used? That would help a lot..thanks
If anyone's curious how it plays on an iPhone 5, I made some video of the opening through to the first save point: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
So basically, everyone is arguing about the saving system and whether it is good or not See, I have to agree with the people being against the saving system within the game. With the way that gaming is worked on this platform, a large portion of the people purchasing this game would want to play this in short bursts, and the way the save system works doesn't support that. Console ports have supported this type of saving too. The GTA games allow you to continue on playing from right where you left off when you exit the game and come back in, regardless of going to a garage and saving. FTL constantly autosaves so you can continue on your game if you decide to leave a game partway in (which is marvelous considering the length of games) I know where people supporting the argument are coming from: They want a more nostalgic gaming experience, and they want to support the developers original idea for the game. I'm alright with that. I'm not sure that the saving system is a good fit for the mobile platform. Besides, if the game does end up crashing, then that would end up leading to unsaved progress which is entirely annoying. I have a solution for this problem though (and do note this is coming from someone who has only read the comments on this thread): Do make it that when you come back into the game after the game exists, it puts you back where you were when you left it. When you die, you go back to the last save point at a computer, not the autosave point which you were at when you launched into the game That doesn't seem too crazy, right?
