That's the goal mind you. We want to bring a complete horror experience (from graphics all way up to gameplay) on mobile devices (not just a half baked tiny game).
How about the replayability? I think I read somewhere in this thread that the game will have different endings, and that's cool, but will it have anything else? For example, in Silent Hill Origins you get some special weapons/costumes after reaching some goals and the second time you play the game you get a key for the UFO ending.
You truly aren't skimping out on anything. Several different endings. Sweet. I just love survival horror but too often find little replayability (dead space both console and iOS I'm looking at you) but this is awesome news A little off topic, but I had a question for you as a dev: with current mobile hardware, do you think a port of Amnesia: The Dark Descent is feasible?
I think you're defintely achieving that from what I've seen. I know I've said this a dozen times but I can't wait for release. Isn't the teaser trailer (where the girl finds a weird skull, drops the flashlight and screams at the apparition) an in-engine cutscene?
Lol I remember in dead space iOS there were hidden rooms, and if you discover them and walked in there were hidden hallucinations that were just creepy, one or two terrifying.
Hmm here's an interesting thought. Wouldn't you say that unity is a far more efficient engine than Gameloft's in-house one? Their more recent games like TDKR and NOVA 3 do look outstanding, but heat up my iPad like crazy, while in contrast I've rarely ever had a unity engine game with a poor framerate or one that produces a bunch of heat. IMO FM trounces NOVA 3 in every regard graphically (especially lighting and animations) and runs at 60 fps on an iPad 2, while NOVA 3 at iPad 2 res and effects runs at maybe 30-45 fps on my iPad 3.
Well, I think that Luigi's Mansion's secret rooms were way scarier than DS' Those rooms were opened with some nodes, and every "secret" room had those hallucinations, so somehow those scenes became too repetitive and not so scary, at least for me. The only scary part of Dead Space iOS was the room with the corpses and the text "Leave us here" or something like that (take us? idk), you know, in the second chapter. I wasn't expecting that. Totally agree. NOVA 3 is a cool game, but I couldn't stand the framerate drops (iPhone 4S) and I deleted it.
Just rewatched some of the pre alpha gameplay. That model for the butcher zombie or whatever the hell he was was amazing, I could see his internal organs and his ribs , not just a texture but part of the model...never, ever have I seen that level of detail in ios game. The only thing I'd say needed work was the death animation for him, which was good but identical every time (I'm guessing there will be many more, perhaps ragdoll physics, maybe?) and some AA To smooth out some jaggies. But of course it was pre alpha. But it looked so impressive.
Im actually loving the dark atmosphere, outlined only by faint lighting. I have been following this thread, and cant wait til this comes out.
