Uhhh...I do know what Pre-Alpha is, and It's the Earliest form of Development. (Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta, and then Final release) Also, Character Designs and Animations have Little to do with First Person view or Third Person view, The Character designs and Animations could easily be Migrated to a First-Person perspective. Please learn more about what you claim to know.
You are confusing stages of development with game versions. A great amount of development time and effort is spent before the first playable (ie Alpha) version is completed. To be specifically, tato is planning to release the Forgotten Memories before the end of the year (that is, within six months) but they have been working on it for over a year. In other words, they may be in pre-alpha right now, but the majority of development has already happened. As to character design and animation, I'll let you figure out for yourself why what you said is very silly.
squarezero is right, changing the camera system in a simple prototype is easy but in a game that have been in development for a year isn't an easy task as the entire levels, events, characters, animations, design and lots of stuff depends on it. But even if there's a quick way to change it, isn't the path we have chosen for FM. We are strictly respecting the plan and design we've chosen and our only focus is to bring a total new and enjoyable horror experience. We've spend quite a lot of time in prototypes and internal demos (testing and trying all that stuff) and came out with a very nice 3rd person camera solution (different from the video you've saw mind you) which all survival horror fans will love. Also the fact that we have playable characters that doesn't hold a weapon in their hands needs a different approach (than a traditional FPS system). So we had to came out with a non traditional but at the same time something that players are a bit familiar in survival horror games (3rd person cameras). Survival horror fans should feel right at home. Cheers,
You are right. Survival horror rarely works with First Person. There aren't that many First Person games that can actually gives the feeling of survival horror. The only First Person survival horror games I can think of that actually mastered this genre are Amensia: The Dark Descent and Penumbra series, but those are PC games. Third Person is the way to go when it comes to survival horror game.
Looks good, I think many people have been waiting for something like this. It'll be good tl have a change from your typical survival horrors, eg: mindless zombie shooters
We won't release any build to public till we complete the final stage of the game, which means completion. ^^ Furthermore we'll release more gameplay videos, pictures, artworks and later on the game teaser/trailers. Cheers,
I don't believe it. I was here when you started this thread and I can't believe it is still going on. Good job mate!
Yes, I remember your posts. As a side note, one of our guys is going to Gamescon next week, to do some showoff of the latest advancements of FM. But in case you cant get to there, I'll upload any of the recorded videos. Cheers,
Can't you just make the whole game, over-the-shoulder? , unless you're aiming for like a classic resident evil style of gameplay Anyways I'm sure the game will be awesome no matter which style you choose, just hope it comes out soon
Indeed, we cannot afford new kind/genre of games as it takes huge amount of time to create the game framework. For example we surely have sequels of this title(or similar titles once FM is done) by adding more functionality to our existing framework instead of creating new stuff from scratch. Also working on survival title games is so darn fun. And we will also port the game to newer and powerful hardware. Early iPad2 builds shows impressive graphics. So yeah, that's the idea. King regards
