Hey guys, Just want to poke that we will shown a small gameplay video running on 3GS/4/iPad1 devices very soon. Cheers,
iPad2 (though the interface on that demo was made for iPhone, thats why its so huge). You'll notice some rendering/graphical difference between the 3gs/4/iPad1 version and the iPad2 one. As mentioned earlier, iPad2 is a totally new beast. The most important thing is that gameplay remains the same, no matter what version you get.
Could you like show iPad 1 & 2 footage at the same time and make them show the same thing, by cutting the picture in half and show iPad 1 footage on one side and iPad 2 footage on the other side so that one can easily compare?
I Highly disagree. When you're scared because a Monster is coming towards you, You won't Aim in a completely different Area where the Monster is. "Holy Crap a Zombie!" "Unnngh..." "Um...Uhhh...AHHHHH!" *Shoots to the wall on the Far Left* When you're Scared, You're Scared. But you won't aim like a Physically Handicaped Person. Not Only does it not make sense, But it wastes Valuable Ammo. At Least, keep Auto-aim as an Option.
Yeah, including auto-aim isn't about the realism - it's about the quality of the device and controls. Shooter controls on the iOS devices can be imprecise at best because of the lack of tactile feedback. So an auto-aim feature can help compensate for that and reduce frustration. I like the way Gameloft does it - providing it not only as an option but also providing various levels of it.
We'll make sure aiming/combats are easy to learn but also realistic. We don't want users fight with the controls, we also don't want the game kills and fight enemies for you. So theres a middle ground in here that must master.
If you are a well trained soldier/policemen when you are scared you can still aiming very well, but if you are a normal untrained person ( like a gamer ) things changes. Its something unpredictable and most of the time you'll miss your target or do some random shots in your target direction without even know if you hit it or missed it.
Definitely - just remember that everyone's a bit different. I'm sure I don't need to tell you to have multiple people test it.
Once we get in beta stage, we'll add even more beta testers to our list. We take very serious user input. No matter how good or bad they are. Cheers,
Our character is Inspector Rose Hawkins is it not?. She, at the very least, would be trained on how to use a gun. This isn't an average "Office Person". And even then, an Office worker wouldn't shoot a Wall many times when a Zombie is approaching him/her. Anyway, I'm not going to go on about this. Just, please include Auto-Aim at least as an option.
Yes, she is indeed an Inspector but theres other things that you don't know about her. Like her inner fears (that i can't talk about) and other cool gamplay features which are all fully connected. Also others factors must be taken into account, like darkness, distance to enemies. No matter how good you are you can miss your target if they are far away from you or if your visibility is reduced (like being in a dark area). But like i said earlier, you won't be fighting controls, you'll be fighting enemies. Controls will be quite easy to pick up. But you'll need some time to master the heart of our gameplay. The coming video will shown the new camera system (including the new control types), you'll have a better idea. King regards,
To me, it's a bit like the car not starting when the monsters are coming, or tripping on a root when you're running in the forest. Horror is ultimately about loss of agency -- it's a reminder that the Universe ain't your friend and will in fact f@ck with you at the worst possible moment. It's a tough thing to recreate in a game because gaming is very much about control, but that's why when it works (as it does in the first three Silent Hill games, for example) it's so damned memorable. I guess it doesn't hurt to have auto aim as an option, but folks who choose it are kind of depriving themselves of a key aspect of what what makes a game like this different from the run-of-the-mill action game.
Just because a Survival horror game has an Auto-aim option, Does not mean it's less scary. Resident Evil 1-3 Had an Auto-Aim option, and yet I was still Very Scared and felt quite Vunerable. Nothing was more terrifying than Walking through a hallway with Little Ammo, and Hearing the breathing of a Licker nearby.
In Silent Hill Shattered Memories, you cannot fight off the enemies at all. All you can do is run and hide.
That game was Boring and not Scary, sure it gave you "Holy crap they're going to find/get me" moments. But It got old after awhile and it just wasn't fun or scary at all.
