What's sad is I just went back like 30 pages and mostly every post is either people arguing against one another, or people questioning the game. And I'm sure the last 100 pages are mostly the same crap. If there's no new info, and all that's happening is members are arguing with members, then something needs to be done. I look at TA as a cool community where you want to come and post and share comments with others. It's what has kept me coming back for all these years. But stuff like this really turns me off. I've never had a post war with a member before this thread. Where I have had 2. All over this stupid game that who knows if it even exists. Anyway if a higher up can post a solution or give us his take on this would be great.
That was mighty dumb of him -- I'd already warned Tato about letting TA members goad him into making promises about delivery dates. Oh well...
A few days ago, we asked members to stop calling the developer a liar repeatedly. Unfortunately, you're still doing that. Please stop. With that type of rudeness, the developer is less likely to provide updates here. This is an upcoming game - and regardless of whether it's ever released or not, it's entitled to have a thread. Therefore, there's no need to raise that topic every few pages. If you have concerns about any threads in future, you can use the REPORT icon to report it to Mods.
So just to be clear your complaining that this tread is full of complaints and argument posts after having posted loads of complaint posts and goading people into arguments. If you actually look back over the last 30 pages there is only about 5 people really stirring it up and 3 look like sock accounts.
It is strange, I never thought of Tato as a liar. Someone who make promises and breaks them but not even in a deliberate or wicked manner. I still dont believe he flat out lies to us or in any of the conspiracy theories (although I must admit, the idea of a talented kid just playing with Unity and recording movies there becomes less and less surreal with every promise and delay). But when I read about his Kickstarter campaign I was surprised. Kickstarter is all about trust in the team and their ability to deliver what they promise in a timely manner. Now this whole thread is completely about destroying trust. It is not only the broken promises. There is just one person posting stuff, an (imaginary) team is nowhere to be found besides some blurred talk about them. This could have been a perfect example of an honest developer diary where the team members show and tell what they do and what challenges they face (like financial, graphical, gameplay etc.). But all we hear is about an engine called FEAR, which sounds like the second coming of Silent Hill, we hear about the game running nearly perfectly on all devices, about almost finished Wii U, PS Vita and Android versions and how revolutionary it all is. That all is strange, really strange, far beyond what other (indie) developers tell on forums. Sure, most of them wont discuss all their internal problems, which most of them obviously have (money, time, artistic differences, team members vanishing) but here we have an example of game development that runs just perfectly with the little exception that the game is never released (until now, I mean).
Here's what I think, Tato has been making this game and playing around with it in Unity. All the videos uploaded have either been recorded directly from the Unity window or from a desktop build. I think he's had his work cut out for him getting it to run on the various devices he said would support it. Seems no matter what device people ask about he says it runs. I think he's bitten off more than he can chew but he's not prepared to tell you.
You are totally wrong. Spreading false assumptions without any real prof. You should get warned for this. [EDIT] Btw, The game have been shown to lot of people in this forum. I've personally posted few videos of the game running pretty smooth on actual devices a while ago. Look back in this thread, you'll find them.
Your post is fully loaded with insulting assumptions and lies. None of that is true. This is the kind of post that keeps away any developer from TA.
And yes, I shouldn't say to Sidgoku that the episode will be released in December, as we've run into some issues lately, so I truly apologize for that. I won't come back again till the episode is released, if that can alleviate all your pain my fellow users. Regards from Psychoz Team!
Good to hear, is there any way you can explain the issues and what's holding the game off so much recently?
We got a memory issue on devices running iOS7. Apple is forcing more memory restriction on iOS7 and our application were having lot of crashes everywhere. Lot of optimizations had to kick in, which is why we've been very quite lately.
I think this game should be renamed to - Broken Promises But tato, you say "Apple is forcing more memory restriction on iOS7" that is worrying... Why is Apple forcing this.
I don't know exactly the reason. It looks like Apple don't like apps eating too much system memory, it limits multitasking and makes the OS unstable quite a lot. On top of that, the OS itself, is using more memory now in iOS7. Forgotten Memories it's a memory hungry game due to the heavy amount of content.
fully understandable as i started making my own game a year ago, this is quite an issue for few developers too. even in unity forum many of the developers there are experiencing the same problem. so good luck, i really hope we can see the most anticipated game on mobile history to be release soon
Thank you for the clarifications Tato. I just wish you could have told us sooner about this. All of us would have understood either way. We rather have a great working game than a rushed game with too many problems. Anyways thanks for your response. We all hope for the best in getting the game working properly. Although you can kind of see where Apple is coming from with the memory limitations.
Rather than asking for an estimate on a release date, would it be reasonable to ask what exactly is left for you to do/change/finish to get the game (demo, rather) to a point where Apple will accept it? Is it just memory optimisation or do these new(?) limitations require some more serious reworking?
The issues got fixed and final optimizations are almost finished. Once done, we'll submit the game again for review. Thanks for being patient.
