LOOOL!! guys stop....like just stop!! i dont think the demo will be out this year...ACTUALLY Im sure it wont!! so as all of you here. as for the full game ya'll know its not coming out anytime soon. BUT whats the problem?? we're all still gonna get it day one right?? but for now i think we all can live without. NOW STOP ACTING LIKE IT WAS F@*KING TITANFALL FOR IOS!!!!!
I can't quite work out the overall opinion here (positive or negative) but it has been very interesting. Every now and then when I'm bored I have a flick through to see the latest dramas. But at the end of it all I will mostlikely purchase this game and it's something that normally wouldn't grab my attention. If sales are the end goal and the game lands into people's hands such as mine then isn't the whole process at least some kind of success?
That's a silly way to simplify things. Might as well use the Holocaust as an example for everything regardless of how extreme, because hey, it's still an example of something that happened. Phil Fish is an extreme and lonely example of a man who quits because he couldn't take the heat from the internet, being completely ignorant to his fans and fellow teammate's wishes with Fez 2. That cancellation over pure emotion hurt more people than just him. Polytron is doing nothing now except Fez 1 ports. The reason why I have a negative opinion of the man even though I absolutely adore the game Fez is because he was extremely toxic and talked shit to others brazenly, would be completely insensitive like telling one aspiring japanese programmer at a convention that all japanese games suck to his face and laughing. And then the moment when the shit goes back to Phil, he gets up and quits and acts like it's the internet's fault for bullying him out with a pathetically childish "YOU GUYS WIN, HAPPY NOW?!" twitter fit. Here's the cold hard truth. The internet is always going to be one big asshole to you. This is never going to change even if we all had to display our real names, locations, and pictures. People will always feel untouchable, and will say whatever they want to say to you, especially if you're a known industry figure. Sorry to tell it how it is, but you can't keep people from being assholes online. You have to grow a backbone and get over it. End of story. That's the only thing you can change and it's to make yourself the bigger person. Not the person who bitches at other people, then bitches out when it comes back to them.
I feel sorry for the people who have been waiting on this game since day 1. I'm glad i never saw this thread until just 2 to 3 months ago....even that is way too long
Dear oh dear, the holocaust is not really the best or most appropriate example to prove your point but seems as you brought it up, it's not a unique example. While the scale and numbers are most certainly unique (and atrocious), its not the only example of mass genocide in recent history. Heres a link that exemplifies a few in recent times. http://endgenocide.org/learn/past-genocides/ And that's not even to mention other historical examples that have occurred over millennia. I won't go further into it than that as your using it as an example is tasteless and a bit obscene but also as a counter point, it fails, because it can happen, it has happened and it has happened multiple times. Probably the only reason others have not reached the same scale is because people and governments actually had the backbone to stand up to those perpetrating them. In relation to Fish, as I said I'm not really interested in commenting on someone not present but you might want to consider that his later diminishment of attitude may in part be down to the level of criticism and what I'd call bullying that he received. Of course, I can't read minds so I can't be sure but I am opened minded enough to consider that it might have been a contributory factor in part. In relation to backbone, I believe we have two different definitions of it. I think that if you have a belief or support something, however menial it may be in the big scheme of things, that one demonstrates backbone by standing up for it and engaging in counter points. If its a case of someone, as you so eloquently put it, bitching, be it about a developer, denigrating them and bitching about delayed launches (attempted bullying in my book actually), I would consider it demonstrating more backbone by standing up for that developer and making ones own counter points as opposed to sitting in a corner, hiding away and saying nothing which you seem to consider the appropriate response. I don't share that belief and I've no interest in running off and hiding in a corner. That's not backbone. Edit. @ JB, I know but you know what, some points just should be made sometimes and you know I'm all for freedom of expression. In saying that, my part in this particular meeting is now over so I'm just gonna kick back and wait for the game. Edit 2. Just in case there is any confusion (I possibly may be misreading the proceeding posts), my own posts have been in support of the developer. I see no point in sitting back and allowing those to negatively go after the dev, particularly as the devs have been brave enough to share exclusive content and details with us over the course of the thread. It confuses me as to why if someone does support a project, as to why they would sit idly by and allow others denigrate the dev and their openness. I don't really consider it a nonsensical argument when one is in fact showing the developer some support, making counter points to those who choose to take an opposite viewpoint and expressing ones own belief on the matter. Its sorta just part of what a discussion that involves points and counter points is. Particularly if one has any hope of the discourse reaching any form of mutual understanding. Inevitably it probably won't anyway but still, its worth a shot.
I totally agree with you. Thyere going after the devs and this thread's dev hasnt even been here to see all this as far as we know. I dont post much but I've been reading this thread daily since I found out of how amazing a Silent Hill style game would be on my phone! I gotta admit, its getting pretty annoying just reading arguements. If it wasnt so close to the possible demo release I'd just stop checking the thread.
I want to play this game also, but at the same time I realize it's only a game. It can't possibly live up to the expectations that we have put on it.
What are you talking about? I remember how long I did wait for Unreal from Epic Games after I had read the first Article about it. Might have been by then more then four Years and when it did hit store shelfs I was running around with the Box in my Hands and shouting YES, YES, YES. I`m pretty sure everyone of us will more or less get blown away by the Game as soon as the Demo will hit the iTunes Store simple because everything we have seen so far really does proof that it was worth the hole wait.
Hey dawg, maybe you're not affected by the wait. But I'm sure the majority are fed up with the delays. Chill out.
Just did a clean-up. Over 20 posts removed. 1 person in timeout and 1 recurring troll perma-banned (again). The posts were removed for containing insults, telling someone to kill themself or being un-related to the thread topic. Back to the game...
