You're right tatoo. But he's not completely wrong either. Can you just imagine how many times it happens that we see this thread on top and when we open it hoping to see any progression we just see people complaining for pages or a pointless argument with you... I mean we cant decide not to click on the thread because we never know, its not like you will/can PM us all to give the release date when its time, so we have to check everytime and that no one can deny, is really annoying. This shows that freezing temporary the thread until the announcement of a release date is absolutely by no means a bad idea and there's absolutely no reason to keep this up since we already know everything concernig the episode and probably the whole game... Anyway thats just how i think. You and the mods are probably seeing things another way but still it'd really make sense to freeze this thread. plus it'll just be until ( like you say) very soon!!!
Not that you'll get access to a huge arsenal from the beginning of the game but the reason is that we have a huge variety of monster types and some weapons are very effective on some enemies while being infective to others enemies. Also, the gameplay time for the final version is quite long, and you'll probably wont use weak/low fire power weapons after something in your progression. Plus the fact that lot of those weapons are hidden and must be unlocked (which are parts of side-quests in FM). ^^
In this thread I post information about the game, pictures and images and try to answer peoples questions. I never bump this thread unnecessary only when people rants and bash it or simply when they what to know something about the game or even ask for private videos about FM (I've done this since... I don't remember but a bunch of time). Hec, I've been using TA as my FM related blog. This is the first site that i update (before anywhere else, well, there's no anywhere else as I don't post anywhere else than TA). I've been very loyal to TA and their users. The fact is that we've been struggling to deliver the game in the past few months for a well number of know reasons (remember we are a very small team with very limited budgets which is key to development speed) is not a reason to lock this thread. If the mods lock this thread (for the reasons you've listed) I will simply never come to TA again. This will drive journalists and gamers out of TA (those willing to find new information about FM). And I know a bunch of guys who registered on this forum only to get fresh new information about FM cause they can't find it anywhere else. I even got few publishers that contacted me through this forum cause they where unable to reach me elsewhere. So it would be a bad idea locking this thread unnecessary only because few people here are desperate to get a final release date right away. Hope you understand.
Main quests, side-quests, achievements, puzzles, riddles, interactions, inspections, doors, combats (a whole range), mini-bosses, boss battles, hide and seek, a fear system, lighting system, stamina/energy, inventory/item system system and the list goes on. Plus they are tailored/randomized to your gameplay style (it changes based on the progression you make which is quite open in FM).
Sorry, but out of my honest opinion, you sound a little arrogant right there with the comment about people registering just to get new info about FM. For the fact, you could view this whole forum (except developer section) without registering. Also the threat you make about not returning to TA, because the mod is going to lock your thread, seems like an overreaction. The main reason for mod to lock this thread, because some people (obviously not you) keep bumping the thread up with the same old questions and sometimes give you insults and try to discredit you. Secondly, I don't believe that the publishers are that desperate and need to contact you through this forum and there is a tool called, "email" they could use to communicate. There are other convenient means like Skype, etc. as well. This doesn't sound practical for publishers at all.
There is no reason to close the thread, knowbody is forcing people with a gun to their head to keep checking it. And you can turn off subscription to the thread too. If you don't want to hear about the game until its out just unsubscribe and wait for the - Forgotten Memories [NZ] post in the released games section. Why anybody would want to beat up on an indi developer i will never know. Go bitch at EA for a while about IAPs. Actually i was contacted by 3 publishers from my posts on here and there are loads of review/info sites that take most of there news articuls from the upcoming games section.
My point is that he is trying to make himself sounds important and vital to toucharcade forum and I know that many press "borrow" infos out of toucharcade forum, but not many publishers/ press contact developers directly on this forum on a regular basis (maybe just to exchange emails, etc.). Firstly, please calm down and I am not "bitching" about about Tato and FM. I am trying to help him, since the thread bumping from members who "dislike" him, could take a toll on him overtime and it is an unpleasant thing to have people questioned your passion (especially the game that you are developing).
Firstly, you can ask many developers here (including ThreeCubes), they were also contacted by publishers directly through here. I can also invite some of those publishers to this thread if you really want to dig deeper. They are very active on this forum btw. ^^ Third, I'm not trying to make myself important, you probably misunderstood me. What I was trying to say is that both developers and publishers are vitals to TA (and vise-versa). It drives traffic to TA and TA drives users to developers (and publishers) game. That's why unnecessary posts really hurts others developers visibility (specially when I've already listed the reasons why the game was previously delayed). Secondly, If you follow this thread closely you'll know that we (indies) have low budgets, small team, overloading with work (due to our smaller teams we need to haul our asses more than anybody in the gaming industry) and still isn't always enough to get that thing on time. Although, the episode is already finished and it will eventually come to the AppStore, when? Soon, when exactly "soon"? When it's ready to be published, I'll post the release date here a week before being published. Lastly, If you or anybody else, need to know anything else about the game please ask and I'll reply.
Thank you Tato. Hope that more people will understand you and appreciate what you have done. Good luck!
OK i got your point tato. well i have a question, i just saw an audio interview of your team on an ios gaming dedicated french website http://www.gamesinthepocket.fr/games-in-the-pocket-87-oceanporn/ (for those who understand french) and they say they're not planing any android release(i dont care but a lot of people probably do), the small episode is gonna be 1 hour long and they're aiming for mid january, which leads me to page 469 when Sidgoku123 asks you if the episode is still coming out this year and you say '' YOU GOT MY WORD ''.... I just wanna say that if what your team is saying is true, then you should probably take back what you said before people start using it as a weapon against you (which would be legit btw) because i'm sure that one statement has been seen by hundreds of T.A users by now (just saying)
It's a monster! I've attached an image of the project sources. The whole project (unity and asset sources) is close to 114GBs! Compiled: well I don't have the exact numbers but FM AR is close to 900MBs compressed (about ~1.4GBs uncompressed). Forgotten Memories (the final version) currently tags 2.5GBs compressed and close to 4GBs uncompressed. PS: What you see there are only full sources of Forgotten Memories, nothing else.
No that was a mistake, we meant the Kickstarter Campaign which is being worked on right now btw. As for the Android, it was stated that is the AR version that won't make it to Android (and only because we have a short time frame for proper play-testing on Android cause FM is already compatible with Android). If we work out a proper Android version, you can be sure the episode wont make it to 2013. [EDIT] The final version will eventually be 100% compatible and bullet prof tested on Android but not AR.
January is only a few months away. Can't wait for this! Looks like a great game. Been following it for awhile ^^
Wow. That's extremely impressive. I didn't know a game could get that high in the GBs... I guess I never really thought about what happens outside of the initial pressing. Like, when I see that Ni No Kuni on the PS3 is 38 GBs from the PSN, I think, "Oh, okay, it's 38 GBs." But it never crosses my mind how much space was needed to CREATE that game. Very cool, tato
There's few stuff that still remain to be done for the final version (some mocaps and cutscenes) which will add again to the whole size. ^^
Now I am completely confused! Kickstarter? What will the campaign be for? For finishing the final game? Android port? Wii U port?
Tato. Are you now working on the Android version too? If so would you tell me how would it run on some hi-end procesors? For example a Snapdragon 800.. Will there be all the same graphical improvements and options? How much time do you think it is going to take for the Plot Chapter or the Final Game for Android. I'm willing to buy a Nexus 5 or a LG G2 by December and i want to know if the game could run in full graphics on these devices when it comes out.
