Yeah just as long as this still means spring/summer and I don't find myself in 6 months time with the game still not out :/
No, that's a different kind of situation. Infinity Blade dungeons was literally too big for too short amount of time. But like I said earlier the console release it's just a bump to give us some momentum and prestige which will help a lot selling the iOS version. We rely most on the iOS version and the game runs pretty well on all three platforms (Wii U, Vita and iOS). Hec, we can even do a simultaneous release if we want but, i think leaving 2-3 weeks exclusive to consoles will give it a bit more boost to the iOS version.
If we ever push back the release of the game it won't be because a console issue, but rather more polish on the game itself. Though a summer release it's becoming a more realistic choice and will give us more time for PR and final refinements. But don't worry, you won't wait 6 months for the game. Nothing have changed, we still have the spring/summer time-frame to release it. Cheers,
We actually are more desperate that any of you guys. We really want to release the game asap but we must remain calm and not lose our heads. After all, we've been waiting and working hard for so long, it would be crazy to precipitate everything at the very end. Warm regards,
IMHO, I think the game should be simultaneously released on all platforms. The fans of this game ( myself included ) have been following this game for ages. It was supposed to be released in May, and now talk of release for Vita, WiiU, possibly ps3. I understand the point of putting in all that hard work. After all it's Tato's baby and he should do what's in his best interest, and to maximize his earnings but just the anticipation of having a game being released at a certain date, then it being postponed and then yet a differen't date. It gets to be a rollercoaster ride for the fans
Will it matter getting the game 2-3 weeks after the console version? After all, we've been waiting since ages for this game right? Cheers,
No, That's one of the many features you got in the game. Sixth sense is the character ability to detect danger, premonitions, enemies, traps, etc.
My mistake. Was just reading something on the Internet about a game that was called that, that was hoping to be released on Wii U exclusively.
True, I can definately wait. If you release it on ps3 or PC. I might buy the game on that platform. Do you have an idea on the price for console or PC? Thanks
Console: 15-20$ Mobile: 7-8$ The PS3 version would be a Christmas release (later this year). The reason is that FM right now is mapped to gamepad and touch devices, but the interface isn't navigable 100% with a gamepad (you need to use the screen for menu navigation, riddles, puzzles, maps, etc). As soon as we publish the iOS version, we'll give it a spin and rework interfaces to be 100% navigable with physical buttons and sticks.
Great pricing Tato, I will definately buy the game on one of the platforms. Good luck with your game !!
Well I was kind of bittersweet about you agreeing that it will come out on iOS first, and then the consoles. But I also felt a little bad. But now it seems the plans changed yet again, and it is now to the "original" plan of being released on consoles first. I'm fine. I am fairly certain that unless the game blows me away with its reviews, I am not going to buy it anyways, but I was trying to speak for the Touch Arcade crowd. I just don't feel like it is kind, as a business decision, to randomly add in two more platforms and delay the original platform's release because of that, all in the name of the potential for "prestige" and "more money." You have worked on the game for 27 years and counting. I jest, but the development time, as I have stated many times, is ridiculous for a mobile game. It's because it's "not a mobile game, this is a true console experience", right? Well I'm still not buying that idea. A mobile game should be on a mobile console, a console game should be on a home console. It does not work on both platforms, unless your game is universally simple and know to everyone and their grandmother, like Angry Birds. I don't see any scenario where your game will succeed on all platforms. Either it will fail miserably on the iPhone because of the touch controls and concessions made for the sake of the mobility, while the console version will be amazing.. or the iPhone version will be God's gift to the gaming populous and the console versions will suck... or finally, both versions will be terrible and we will have waited 3 centuries for a game that is a completely broken and buggy mess. I'll admit I have become a little jaded against Apple's iOS games as of late. I do feel that, at least for me, a true gaming experience can only be had with tactile buttons and physical controls. Touch controls can only go so far, but virtual joysticks, no matter how far they evolve, will never be as sufficient and satisfying as a physical joystick. I'm not just jaded because of the physical controls vs. digital controls, though. I also feel that Apple's App Store and the rise of $1 cheapo games is only going to degrade the overall gaming industry further... dedicated handheld consoles are on their way out, which saddens me greatly... and I don't think the home consoles are far behind. I'm perhaps being a real pessimist regarding the state of affairs in the current gaming industry climate, but there is undeniable proof that the general population of iPhone users don't want anything to do with dedicated handhelds and their $30-$50 games. For the average consumer, quality doesn't matter. You could have a $30 game be the best game in the whole damn world, but the average iOS consumer will avoid it like the plague unless it drops to $1, or at the most like $7. It's hard to explain. It's frustrating, though, but that's a different debate for a different day. The point of the above was to say I am biased. Even though I am among the millions who gave success to the rise of the $1 game empire, I now wish I hadn't supported that at all. It is destroying the world of handheld gaming, and home consoles will follow in probably two or three generations. I just feel it. So where was I going with this post? ...hm... Oh right. About delaying it for the iOS platform in favor of releasing it on the Wii U and Vita first.. it's a terrible idea. I maintain that it's a terrible idea, especially if you are giving extra stuff to those console ports. Despite what you and a few others seem to think, releasing it on consoles won't help a damn thing. You have been developing it for iOS since the extinction of the dinosaurs. If you release it on the consoles, that's great. But you can not truly expect game reviewers to say something like, "The console game is being ported to iOS!" do you? It started as an iOS-native game. It will continue to be labeled as an iOS-native game. It will not break any financial ground on the consoles, and there is no way it will boost the sales of the iOS version. The only thing I am asking now, is "What's the point?" If you had only been working on the game for a few weeks for iOS, but then decided to move it to a console for the next couple years, maybe you could escape the iOS trap. But you did the opposite. You developed it for iOS since the dinosaurs were created, and only a week ago you announced it coming to non-iOS platforms. ...ugh. It's not a good idea. I'm telling you. It's a terrible idea. In response to you asking me if you delayed it for the iOS-exclusive release, no other consoles in the picture, if I'm being honest, I would probably say, "Ha!", laugh at you, and grow old and die in a retirement home before I would ever expect you to bring the game out on any platform.
@MasterChief3624, Could you please put on the side your over-exaggerated comments? I see what you mean but like I said earlier, the game was and always have been a multi-platform project (even if our initial release was iOS). The game won't be delayed because Wii U or Vita. If it gets delayed it's because we still need to polish it (so people like you won't laughs or destroy it with your comments). And by "prestige" I don't see it as a money-maker machine. We want the game on those consoles which have been selling very poorly. So i don't see FM selling pretty well over there, neither we don't expect to become millionaires out of that. We want to release on console first to get some momentum so the game wont get drowned in the AppStore later. We rely quite much in the iOS version (possibly more than the consoles version). The only thing that we are changing is to leave FM exclusive for about 2-3 weeks in the console to help make an explosive launch on the iOS. PS: You've been waiting since the "dinosaur" age right? What will matter 2-3 weeks more? If you want to give a friendly advice, please do it the right way, I can't take your sarcasm very seriously. Cheers,
Some of the twisted craziness you'll found in Forgotten Memories (image attached). The shot was taken in real-time (vita/mobile renderer) from one of our cutscenes! More stuff soon. Enjoy!
Actually I find your company and game to be one of juggernauts that are currently plowing the way into bright future and changing Apple store gaming completely by making high quality console games a normal sight in store; alongside other like Shadowrun, X -com and more high quality ports from PC/ consoles being released in near future I think App Store mentality of cheap and short games will slowly start to change as people find those games and their "higher" price standard on iOS devices ; freemium will always be there, but premium will grab a much bigger portion of consumers cake this year imo.
