Oh Brother, I thought it was for certain that it was coming in May ( for iOS as previously mentioned a couple months back.) Now the first priority is Vita and WiiU, with iOS even a month after those releases. I'll still be buying the game, but it's disappointing because I thought it was coming in May. I know guys, things change.
Hmm actually no. From the gameplay I've seen it looked like it could get a 12+ from Apple (heh, look at Dead Space!) but I know that's a very small and limited view of the game. I don't really care though as long as you don't get delays from Apple! They can be picky about the stupidest things.
I'll be happy if the game could be rated 12+ so we can make more sales (kidding). ^^ Actually, that gameplay shows almost nothing, the game have disturbing and sometimes gory scenes. Let's see what they think about it. ^^
Not the camera, but the rest of inputs yeah. You can also play the game with your buttons or touchscreen (combine or simultaneously).
Dead Space is quite gory too, there's still a good chance FM might squeak past with a 12+. Have you ever seen Gameloft's Gangstar Rio? That somehow got past with a 12+ and it's probably the most profane (I'm talking 200+ f bombs in the scripted dialogue alone, along with every other word in the book including the C word, plus peds and your character will swear like sailors) game on the AppStore. Not to mention the sexual content & GTA style violence. Then Dead Trigger can't get 17+ without removing mild sexual references Anyway the whole rating process seems pretty random IMO. Hopefully there'll be no hiccups Are you planning on releasing FM on Xbox/PS3 as well?
I think the weirdest rated game I've seen has to be Modern combat two. I've seen way worse stuff clock in at 12+. That was off topic though. I know next to nothing about this game, but it looks interesting. Some odd titles lately have been getting 17+ ratings.
Indeed, It's going to get approved, no doubts but I'm not sure if they will ask for 12+ or 17+, It's hard to tell with Apple.
WOAH!! Just saw a bit of one of the gameplay vids, and OH YES IT LOOKS AWESOME! It looks incredibly freaky as well!
I heard the PS3 is pretty hard to code/optimize for, does that mean that since it's hitting Sony/Nintendo first iOS will have to wait while that is sorted out? Here's a fairly common sight from Dead Space, I'm actually replaying it now, really just a great game. I actually checked out the AppStore ratings, and you can (technically) get away with as much violence or profanity filled as you want (a la Dead Space) and still keep it a 12+. 17+ need strong suggestive/mature themes (very vague, anything could be "mature themes"), strong sexual content, strong drug content, or strong gambling. So I think there's a solid chance based on other games and a lower rating IMO is always best as long as there aren't any complaints. @MC 'cause I know he frequents this thread: is that pic ok? Edit: man looking at that pic you can tell that DS has aged. I'm running it in an iPad 4 which unfortunately doesn't have any iPad 2 effects like more bloom, particles & AA. Still it's amazing a game looking that good came out in Jan 2011. Heh, I remember when it did and playing that thing like 6 times through just to get all the wallpaper.
Dead Space isn't that bad.. But either way EA and other big names tends to get a lot more slack in the rating.
Because they're not the big names I was referring to. Although something that confuses me is MC2 was 12+ until a few months before the mc3 release.
@JBRUU, Platforms: No plans for PS3 now, we'll probably jump on in later this summer and do something special with FM for Christmas but final (and first version) will be Wii U, Vita and iOS (others platforms will be announced/come later). Release Date: Our goal now is to finish the game this spring, submit FM for ESRB/PEGI ratings and release it soon later. Exact final releases dates will be revealed as soon as the game is submitted for rating. Why it's important to release the Wii U/Vita version first and then few weeks later the iOS one? Because we rely probably most on the iOS market than console market, releasing the game first on console will make FM a bit more prestigious (nothing more), get more attention from big sites and help a lot with PR, Ads, etc. Although even if this isn't a AAA production, the quality, time and money invested in this project is ridiculous for an Indie developer (you probably don't wanna know the numbers... ^^). Not to mention that Sony and Nintendo will be helping out a little bit on the PR side too so the iOS version will blow out the stats once released. Worst thing that could happen is that ESRB/PEGI ratings get longer and the game must be pushed back to this summer. Hopefully not! If for some reason, console will take longer than that, we will simply release the iOS version first and then release the console versions later. The Game: We don't need to scale anything in the game, Vita already got some small visual improvements, Wii U is getting the Off-TV screen play while having superior shaders, textures and visual FXs. Finally the iOS version will remain the same as what you've already tasted in previous videos. Still there's a lot more to show about FM before the launch, few more videos and more images. Final trailers should be ready while ESRB/PEGI ratings are done/finished. As always, lot of love and warm regards from Psychoz Team!
