Guys, How many of you have an iPhone4G or have plans to buy a new one this year? The playable demo (available this summer) will not be as optimized as the final game, specially for the cloth simulation. The game still playable right now in a 3GS but it runs smoother on the iPhone4. But don't worry, the final product will be optimized for both devices 3GS/4G. Cheers,
The game (demo, final release, etc) is fully shader driven, iPhone/iTouch 2G GPU does not support OpenGL ES 2.0, only fixed function pipeline (1.1) that means, no pixel shaders at all. Even if the GPU supports OGL ES 2.0, the vertex/fill rate count still a barrier for 2G. The 3GS can handle about 7x times 2G vertex count and 3.5-4x times the fill rate count. Big difference. No need to worry, if you still want to play the game, wait for the PC/Mac/Web version after iPhone launch. Cheers,
If iPod Touch 3G 32/64GB yes, as it have the exact same hardware as iPhone 3GS. Anything else (8GB) will not work. Not even run slow, not work at all. ^^ Cheers,
For those having plans to buy a new iPod Touch, wait a bit more, September 2010, theirs provably a new coming iPod Touch 4G. iPod touch 3G (32/64GB) will also be cheaper when iT4G comes. Cheers,
Awesome! I thought it would since it would work on the iPhone 3GS, but I wasn't 100% sure. Thanks for answering!
That's right, Removing the pixel shaders wont even help as the fill rate and vertex count will simply overcome the hardware requirement. Cheers,
It will work on the iPhone 3GS, though? After a string of disappointments these last few weeks, I thought I'd prepare myself for another potential disappointment. I wanted to make sure it won't be iPhone 4-only.
