Hey.. are you running iOS 3 ? There's a crash bug in v1.0 which stops it working unless you're on iOS 4.. sorry about that! I fixed it and submitted an update a couple days ago. Hopefully that'll make it work for you.
Allright, I finally got my scores posted! Whoa, I'm 2nd in Survival mode, apparantly. 117,343 is my top score there. I love that mode, it reminds me of a true Roguelike; die just once, and it's all over! I'm Cubia55 on there, if anyone cares. (totally open to friend invites and stuff, I do alot of gaming on this thing.) I know I could do better than that in this mode, but alot of my survival runs end up with something bloody stupid happening, such as me shooting myself to death (I seem to do that alot), or me running into an armada of those horrible spinning squares. I dunno why those kill the heck outta me so easily, but they do. More than anything else in the game. Even those shiny shuriken-looking things that absorb shots and then spray them in 4 directions wildly dont get me that often.... at least with those, you can wait awhile and they'll stop firing, at which point they're mostly harmless until they take enough more damage. But the bloody square things are nasty no matter what. Also, I love how the game will occaisionally put out a level that contains only one enemy type. It's a relatively rare occurrance like it should be, and can make things very interesting when it happens. My last one was a mid-sized level that spawned nothing but those huge snakes! Boy was THAT an interesting level.
oh, ok. i look forward to when the update is released! did you submit it as an emergency bugfix? they usually get released fast.
jak56: Yeah, I asked for an "expedited review" for critical bugfix, but haven't heard anything back yet.. not sure if they email to say "ok!" or if they just do it, or what.. Bridget: Nice scores! Those evil spinning square things.. the only properly safe way to go near them really is to be charged up. Without being charged, while you'll die if one of them runs into you, it IS safe to touch their "sides".. this sometimes helps if one of them has stolen the key - you can swipe towards it while it's right next to you (but moving past) to move in behind it and retrieve the key. If that makes sense. Thanks again everyone for the nice comments and reviews and all <3
Received a call during the game, when I hung up and went back to it the sound was gone and nothing I did fixed it. Is this a bug? It might just be me but I'm just not "getting it" at the moment. I'm whizzing about collecting stuff rather easily but I don't really see the fun element. Grinding the walls is a chore imho and I don't see what all the fuss is about. Am I looking at it wrong?
Enjoying this game. Two questions... (1) Could someone please explain grinding? I know it can power you up, let you kill guys, or kill you, but I'm not quite sure I understand when it's good to do or when it's not. Sometimes I just blow up, sometimes I run into something and die. Where's the sweet spot, and is that all it's good for? (2) Does the ghost just come whenever you've been hanging around too long on a level? Is there a way to kill it, or should you just try to get the the next level ASAP? Thanks.
Yep, that sound thing is a bug.. should be fixed in the small bugfix update I've submitted. About grinding...see below for some info on it. It's an almost entirely optional thing, but helps for getting massive scores.. Also useful in some situations like catching up with key thieves, outrunning bullet streams and breaking through large clusters of enemies. The ghost turns up when you've been on a level for too long, yeah. There is a way to kill it....with flowers! It's quite hard to do though. I posted some info on wall grinding on my blog:
I may have missed it but I think this game could do with an in-game manual that lists all the enemy types and explains what each pick-up does etc.
agreed loving the game though even though my HS is only 50,000 i have a formula This + Death Cab for Cuties album 'Plans' = edit new HS 83000 climbing the LB now 34th
no offence to you but you cant figure out that health gives you health and that power increases your power??
Of course I can, but having a list of enemy types and their behaviours is interesting to read. Can I also suggest a bar that fills up as you collect fruit so you know how much you must collect to gain a new life? Have to say the penny has dropped and now I'm addicted. I love randomly-generated levels in any game but couple it with the retro style and destructible environments and it becomes so playable.
