The new game modes are really fun. The update definitely deserves a TA front page shout out (when it comes out)!

jeanreno: thanks for your testing help man! :)

    The update is out!

Anyone who has an iCade, I would love to hear how it plays for you on that.. I haven't been able to test it in person... though a couple friends did and said it worked well.

The iCade controls are reworked, based on the PC/Mac version controls (so 8-way instead of 4-way like the touch controls).. I love playing PC version on a joystick so hopefully it's also fun on iCade.

    Anyone want some promo codes?

Apparently this update crashes on iOS 3.1.3. D'oh. If you're running that, hold off on updating.. sorry.. I'll try to figure out what I added that broke it, and get a fix out when the app store opens again after xmas.

Gosh dangit I forgot how great this game was! :D

I smell the need of some sort of PSA:

    [big title reads]
FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS DO FMN!
[and then we have Officer Bob explain how the victim fatally shot himself in the back of the head several times while rubbing up against the corridor wall trying to "get his fruit on"].

It's well worth the $1.99 to support a great developer and enjoy an excellent, highly-replayable game. Can't wait to give the new modes a try after work.

I always do this, until I play it again...so it has happened to me about 50 times by now.

What exactly is the difference again between Original and Arcade (the Extra Crispy of the two, I assume)?

EDIT: Never mind, nyarla covered this waay back:

Thanks a bunch for not taking the Seed route with the Arena! I think the Seed concept is very cool on its own but just don't want it in my other modes. :p

Doe this iCade support mean that we now, if in an open area, can swipe diagonally?

Haven't played it yet, but think I remember reading in the update notes that basically Arcade will be more difficult and less forgiving (kind of like the way some of us used to pump quarters in actual arcade games to get further).

Opps...guess you found it first, but this was my interpretation of why they used the term "arcade" for the harder difficulty.

Nah, touch controls remain 4-way, same as the previous version. I tried having an 8-way option but it didn't really work - it became far too easy to accidentally move diagonally or grind walls...to fix that I had to expand the touch "deadzone" a lot, which made it feel really unresponsive..

The 8-way iCade controls don't really affect gameplay BTW - you don't actually move or shoot diagonally. Holding a diagonal makes you move in a zigzag line in that direction... as if you were quickly swiping up-right-up-right-up-right-up-right (or whatever). :)

Exactly. Arcade difficulty makes it mostly the same as the PC/Mac version, which was designed with public arcade cabs in mind.. It wants to try to kill you as quickly as possible!

I've been playing lots of Arcade Shuffle mode lately, man it's difficult. I usually die on the 2nd level :D

Wow, I can play that mode just about as good as the developer then. I never knew I was so skilled! :p

It's probably just me, but the controls seem a bit more sensitive since the latest (awesome) update. Anyone else noticing this? I was playing on the 2 sensitivity setting but might have to switch to the least sensitive option.

Which brings me to my dumb question: setting 3 is the least sensitive, right? I've been experimenting with the settings but still can't really tell. Thanks in advance for any info/advice.

Setting 3 is the most sensitive, 1 is least :) It's only a very small difference though. I prefer 3 on iPad, 2 on iPhone.

Hmm, It shouldn't be more sensitive in the update, unless I accidentally changed the deadzone size. Which...I might have done actually @_@ Was doing a lot of code merging when porting the stuff from the PC version back into the iOS version... I'll have a look at the source to make sure, when I can - can't at the moment..

I did change the controls slightly though, to make it so that you can keep grinding walls while busting through the "gum" walls that some enemies leave behind (In the old version, gum would stop you from grinding - not intentionally, it was a bug..) which has very slightly changed the feel of the controls in certain situations.. it could possibly do with a bit more tweaking.

Other stuff I'll be putting in a small update soon: fix for iOS 5 bug where the game gets stuck in the pause menu if you use multi-swipe app switching. option to turn off screen flashing whenever you get damaged. If anyone else has any small requests for stuff like that, or notices any other bugs, do tell...

Thanks for the reply! It probably is a deadzone issue since I tend to swipe and remove my controlling finger rather than keeping it in contact with the screen. Nothing major but worth checking maybe when you've got the time. Thanks again.
