I just wanna add a little more praise for using a bitmap font on this So many "retro" games stumble on that aspect when they decide to use the default font and it fails to match the theme. Either that or they use clean, shiny buttons with anti-aliasing... eurgh! ...aaand added to sig because this is exactly the type of game I want to help support
No wonder he forced me to buy it!!! Lining his coffers with my precious coin All parties involved should be thankful its a damn good game or else my wrath would have been invoked.
Game Impressions Nearly a classic and one of the best pure arcade experiences in the App Store. I say this as someone who never really liked Pac-Man: this game takes the same formula but strips away everything that made it (in my view) tedious. On top of that, nyarlu has layered a finely tuned shooter with a great variety of enemies. It's a maze game and a corridor shooter and even a stealth action game, all wrapped up in sweet retro goodness. All it needs to become a true classic is slightly more responsive controls and a killer chiptune soundtrack. I expect to see this on the front page very soon.
Hooray for another soundtrack vote! As long as it stays decidedly retro I'm backing it all the way. Is it any coincidence all the people posting positive feedback in here are the ones I find most respectable about the forum?
Looked on the Devs blog and he is looking into randomised synth tunes! Still haven't taken the plunge, so if you can persuade me to do so, I will.
Really? And I was about to dismiss this due to always having a bit of a blind spot for Pac-Man as well. Guess I better take another look.
Yeah for the record, I've never been big on the original Pac-Man either. Championship Edition was fun, but the original, nope. Too difficult and way too slow. To be honest, the movement speed in Forget-Me-Not feels almost the same, but there's so much action on the screen you barely get a second to think and it gives the illusion of a much faster pace.
Well i'm getting this based just on how much i loved Magnetic Shaving Derby. Anyone that can come up with a game that makes shaving look like an LSD trip is on to something...
hey dev, you gonna put this on sale or drop the price to free anytime between now and April? kinda tired of buying apps and being shitted on the day after. game looks fun, you have my attention.
Start from beginning? Does this game remember what level you're up too, or does each game start from the beginning? Hopefully it remembers... EDIT: Just read the first page and it sounds like it starts at the beginning each time.
In standard you start from level 1 each time. The game isn't about levels, it's about your score. Starting on a higher level means you'll never get a good score since you use the ease of the first levels to get huge chains. If you leave the app your progress is saved though (in case that is what you meant)
With a game like this, you shouldn't worry about being shitted on. You'll welcome it with an open mouth if it means more exposure and success for the awesome person who gave you this gem. I'd pay double.
Game Impressions Played this for about a half hour. Felt like about 5 minutes. Not exactly sure what's going on at all times yet, but loving every bit of it. The sound, in particular, really makes this for me. Just for the record, I started out thinking something like this: But after playing was thinking more like this: Heck, I even just bought Magnetic Shaving Derby as well. Imagination like this should be supported. Buy this game.
