nyarla, did you ever get a chance to look at the OpenGL blurry-upscaling-for-retina issue?

Yep, more kinds of enemies and potions (and other kinds of powerups) in future is very likely :)

About red potions: The first one you get doubles the damage your bullets do. Each one you get after that increases your firing rate a bit.. so once you've got 5 or 6 you'll be firing super fast streams of bullets - like some of the more evil square enemies.

Fruit: It's all worth the same amount of points, the difference is purely cosmetic. I'm thinking of changing that so that more powerful enemies will drop fruit which is worth more, etc..

Yeah it seems really easy to fix, and I'd love to, but I have no way of testing it. The iOS simulator doesn't have the silly blurriness issue... I could send it to someone online who has an iPhone 4 to test with, but I'd really rather see it and be able to test it a lot myself - to make sure 100% that it's good, no slowdown, etc. I don't know anyone near me who has one. We'll see.... maybe I'll eventually buy one myself....

I had to ask the same question, as I'm not always able to be online.

Tried it and works like a charm.

I hope you find something to test it on soon, I'd love to see the game looking as pixel-perfect as it's supposed to be ;)

If you change your mind about letting someone else check it I'll volunteer for testing :)

questions in brief coz im new to this type of game but i like what is going on!!

1-what is the function of fruits ? we collect the dots for the key what about the fruits?
2-How do i grid through wall??
3-is there an option to know what is the health of my opponent?? would be a great addition if im hitting someone and in the button of screen showing me his health deacreaing as in my health??
4-is there a way to know different stats of our enemies?
5-should we collect all the dots and escape ?? or we keep killing enemies after we collect the dots to collect what the enemies left?
6- what about ipad?? is it supported ?? or pixel dbl?
7-what is the gain if i collect the floers or dots in chain?

MidianGTX: I might take you up on that at some point.. it's not that I don't want people to test it (I do have some tester friends, I think a couple of them have iPhone 4s), it's just that I need to see it myself :)

Well it's about high scores. It has some Pac-Man elements, but also shooting, and various kinds of enemies who behave in different ways. And randomly generated mazes of course. I see it more like a sped up, very simplified arcade roguelike in a Pac-Man-like framework.. Don't know how else to describe it... check out the video in the first page of the thread if you didn't already :)

    hey Rivozzz...
    1. fruits give you points, and also an extra live for each 100 you collect.
    2. hmm, what do you mean? how to grind? I attempted to write some tips for grinding here: http://nyarlulabs.blogspot.com/2011/03/forget-me-not-tips-grinding.html
    3. no, there isn't an enemy HP display.. I toyed with the idea of having this but I felt it cluttered up the screen too much, and wasn't all that useful except for a few of the stronger enemy types
    4. not yet, but maybe in a future update
    5. you can do it either way, whatever you feel like :)
    6. yes iPad is supported
    7. you get a LOT more points - points rise exponentially for each item collected in a chain. this applies for flowers, fruit and enemies killed - each in slightly different ways..

so to go on like pac man..we collect the flowers and escape through the key

but killing enemies and collecting fruits give us extra life and extra points..

by the way what is extra points do aside of more lives?? more score in leaderboards?? or only lives?

Just picked this up and am completely hooked! GREAT game! I'm absolutely terrible but am improving significantly the more I play and the more I learn about the baddies

Just out of curiosity, what control sensitivity level is everyone set at? I'm messing around with them trying to find the sweet spot and was wondering what works best for everyone else...

For me, the original works best, which is now 3. The other are not sensitive enough for me, I often miss a move. But could be because I played a lot before there was an option. So I'm used to no. 3...

Still playing A LOT too :)

I improved a lot when I switched from the standard 3 to 2. The controls just feel more 'solid' and tight to me this way.

I second the "fishtank mode" idea

fantastic game, can't wait for more enemies/modes/powerups etc

such huge payoff; I've nearly missed many train stops :D

    Edit: is this game underrated?

I just want to share some tips and tricks for this game, for those who haven't yet figured them out.

First, it's a good policy to collect MOST of the flowers in the early stages, then sit around and pick off the mostly docile enemies as they appear. Leave one flower onscreen (you'll know there's only one left because it starts pulsing) and blast/steamroll enemies as they pop up, and you'll collect a large bounty of fruit, especially if the stage has an open design. When you get the ghost warning, take the last flower and the key and head for the exit. It's crucial to get as much fruit as possible in the early stages while the difficulty is low and the only serious threat is the ghost that hurries you along.

Second, do whatever you can to farm fruit in the later stages. A good strategy I've found is to charge up with a wall scratch, then as you're glowing bright red, dive headfirst into a cluster of blue breeder bugs. You'll slaughter them and choke the screen with fruit, which you can pick up at your leisure. Never go near a breeder if you're not charged... they bite, and will quickly overwhelm you if you give them the opportunity! Also, the centipedes in the later stages are a fruit bonanza. Charge into their heads and the remaining sections burst into delicious, life-giving cherries and grapes.

Fruit farming is the key to long-term survival in this game. There are strategies for boosting your points, but harvesting fruit is the only way you'll have a shot at seeing the later stages. I've cracked 160,000 by concentrating on fruit above all else.

If I were to guess, it would be a mode where you just watch the ecosystem of monsters fight amongst themselves. It's something I find myself doing when I lose my last life in one of the later stages. Some serious shit goes down in those mazes... bombs scurry around, breeder bugs choke the screen with their progeny, and gunner squares battle to the death, all without you there. It's fascinating, like the old game Video Life after watching a Rambo marathon.

Hey, if it's not asking too much, it'd be cool if the monsters had a more aggressive form which they transform into if they eat one of your potions. You know, like how the monsters in Bubble Bobble get mad if you don't pop their bubbles in time.

Also, Garden Wars for the VIC-20... early precursor to Forget-Me-Not? Discuss.
