Oh whoah! Thanks Touch Arcade! *super happy*
And thanks to you all for playing FMN and your nice comments. :)

Cheers for the mentions of Silverfish guys.. Shamefully, I hadn't played it. Just had a go of the free version...man that's awesome! and really beautiful. Looking forward to grabbing the full version when I can.

I'd love to put it on XBLIG... but I don't have an Xbox, or any of the other stuff you need to do that. There will be PC and Mac ports though, with joystick support etc.. I have the ports sort of half working so far, but got no time to finish them off yet. They won't be anything fancy - no enhancements over the iOS versions at all (except for additional control methods & screen resolutions), just straight ports..

Yeah, I know how you feel.. 'Tis a shame, but I think it's for the best... like some people said though, the old leaderboard will still be around to look at. And really, it's not going to happen for a fair while yet. I have to finish off another project before I can even start work on the new update..

The trick is to try and grind just enough to keep your charge up so you're glowing almost all the time. And being charged up doesn't make you impervious to bullets, so running towards one of those square guys who's shooting at you is still a bad idea... better to run away. Or try to sneak round and get them from behind.

Well, I really like getting the instant feedback from such a wide range of people.. though it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes (and man, imagine what it must be like for someone who makes a super popular game like Tiny Wings!).

It is of course impossible to please everyone, and I'm not gonna be all reactionary and change whatever anyone doesn't like... I take some suggestions on board, mutate them in my MINDTANK, and see what comes out.

Mainly I'm just making games that *I* want to play. So I won't be changing anything in ways that I don't like. Pretty much every little thing in the game is how it is for a reason. It's a big interlocking system of..things. I try to make everything I add also fit in and work with that. :)

(the specific changes to current game modes I've been talking about in this thread will only be to make certain things more challenging for advanced players. other changes will take place in new modes so will be optional..)

Found a bug after upgrading to iOS 4.3.1 on iPad: if you use the new four finger swipe gesture to switch out of Forget-Me-Not to another app, FMN won't respond properly to touches after you switch back, so you'll be stuck on the pause menu.

Using the old double-tap-Home method to switch out still works as it should, so best to only use that with FMN for now. Doh. I'll try to fix it asap..

(BTW it seems like the four finger swipe is fine once FMN is in the background, or even for switching back to FMN. just not for switching out of it.)

[EDIT! ok so this bug only affects ipads running in development mode. nothing to see here, move along.. ;P]

The 4 finger swipe is hidden unless it's turned on with xcode so it's technically not a bug... yet ;)

VeganTnT: oh! hahah, didn't realise.. phew. I guess this shows why devs get a preview of that feature... :)

No problem, glad you enjoyed it! I would actually recommend Silverfish to every single person who has played and enjoyed F-M-N. And as you say, there's a free version to try out.

You're misinformed about Minotaur Rescue. If you visit Jeff Minter's yakyak forum thread for that game, you'll see that the moanings about iPhone vs. iPad difficulty and requests for scoring changes such as "resume best" were made by his fans there (e.g. someone complained that it was too difficulty to power up and survive after losing the first ship - a claim I disproved in a v1.0 gameplay video). Also, Pocketgamer and certain other online review rags had previously slammed the controls, whereas several TA members including me praised them. The only change to that app arising from TA discussion was the pause button issue which was also discussed on Minter's own forum.

    This is one awesome game!!
I'm so glad it made it's way to toucharcades "best of" roundup coz otherwise I would never spot this game.. and that would be a big loss for my gaming experience!

I just love this game the way it is, but it would be nice to know how many fruits I have collected going for extra life.

As for the in game music, it's not necessary in my opinion coz if you include it in one of next updates, I will turn it off if there will be an option ;)

    Great job for the game!

ok, so i got the game three days ago, and have been playing it since, but i just cant get into it. i find it extremely hard to use grinding to any good, as it takes to long to charge up, yet just going around seems kinda dull in comparison. i'll stick with it but so far, eh.

I just had this crash on me in the middle of a Shuffle game. It was the first time it happened, so there doesn't appear to be a major stability issue, but it was still annoying, as I had a pretty good game going.

    On an iphone 3GS.

Almost grabbed this game a few times, but haven't since I enjoy progressing through levels, rather than restarting a game from scratch each time. But...I seem to keep coming back to this thread!

Slooooowly getting better at this. I'm still nowhere near the top of the leaderboards, but I'm starting to get the hang of scoring, grinding, and handling various enemy types.

Thanks! Really glad you're enjoying it. Fruit counter, good idea..

Hmm :( Well it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea I guess. The trick with grinding is to find a place where you can do it enough to build up a charge, and then as you move around, constantly grind small amounts so as not to let the charge run down again.

I recommend trying Shuffle mode, if you haven't already, and are finding the other modes a bit dull. Because Shuffle randomises the level order it often ends up being far more challenging, far quicker, even (or, especially) without grinding!

Doh! Thanks for letting me know.. I've not had this happen but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Hehe. Well since the levels are generated anew each game, the emphasis isn't really on progressing through them but on getting lots of points. It's an arcade game really.. for now anyway. ;)

There will be more control options in the next update yes, but that isn't going to be particularly soon.. Can't say exactly when but at least not for a month or two. Not getting on with the swipe controls? A few people asked for dpad so I'll have a go at adding that, but I honestly think it won't be as good as swipe :p

I said this somewhere in the thread earlier I think, but despite the controls being described as "swipe", you don't actually have to do the traditional swipe gesture (ie, swiping your finger and then lifting it up before touching again for your next swipe) - you can leave your finger constantly on the screen and just move it a small amount in whatever direction you want. That's how I play it. I'm going to attempt to add some kind of visual cue to make this more obvious..

Also don't forget to try the different sensitivity levels in the setup menu.. hopefully there's some combination which will make it more playable for you.

Thanks for the comments guys. :)

I love this game more every time I play it. Some of the mazes are duds, but others (the ones that stretch across the entire screen, generally) are loads of chaotic fun. The swipe controls aren't a big deal for me... I find that they work better than a standard joystick for maze games like this.

I just have a couple questions for you. Well, several actually, but I forgot the others. The green life potion is self-explanatory, but what the heck do the red power potions do? Do they enhance charging in any way? I've not found them to be particularly useful. Also, do the different fruit types matter? I've found cherries, lemons, grapes, apples, fried eggs (my favorite fruit!), and mushrooms, but I've not found them to be any different from each other. What's up with that?

As for improvements, I can't think of TOO much off the top of my head. The game is a well-oiled machine and I'd hate to ruin that by throwing in extra pieces. I would like to see more potions, though, and perhaps some hidden bonuses. Maybe reward the player for getting close to explosions without actually dying in them, I dunno. Also, more enemies would be great, although I'm not sure I've actually seen them all.

One other thing... if I get a high score, can I upload it to the leaderboard at a later date? I'd hate to have it stuck on my system forever like that, without an opportunity to share it. 122K is probably a pittance at this point, but hey, you've got to take pride in something!

Red potions increase your attacking power (shooting).
I agree there should be more potions, something like invisibility to pass through walls or invincibility that lasts 30 seconds but you can still die from exploding bombs etc. Maybe negative potions too like one that reverses the controls or turns the maze/screen upside down.
