I just downloaded yesterday and started from scratch. Awesome game and haven't been able to put it down. It's like a more fun NFL blitz.

That being said, the retirement system has been really prohibitive for me. I have 2 retired players and my coin income isn't keeping up with my ability to upgrade and keep up with retirements, even after purchasing the coin doubler. So I have 2 retired players with 0 speed that I have to play, which is extremely frustrating.

Great update so far! Like the betting mode, updates to the player cards and new AI so far.

Got to agree with the others on the retirement piece, not a fan and not sure i want to play and level my players up just to have them retire.

This is bummer for players like you and me who played a lot of games last year, as a bunch of players are near retirement :(

Once I started replacing my retired players, I personally enjoyed searching for new players and coming up with plans to replace my starters. This has caused me to change up my tactics on the field and I believe make the game more dynamic and keeps from getting stale.

I am going to discuss your feedback with the team

DEFENDER SELECT and NEW CONTROLS Feedback Request

Has anybody experimented with the Defender Select control options in the Options Menu?

What is your favorite option? Why do you like it?

What other things need to be fixed in the controls?

Thank you in advance for your feedback

In the options menu you can change the control settings to Touch which is classic controls.

    New Update

So far I like the new update especially the AI. Although in the cup mode, they do seem to have a smaller cooldown for special use ability which can get annoying.

I like the new mode for the coins challenge.
I tried the different control schemes but stuck with the touch controls.

Lastly, like everyone else . I'm not liking the retirement thing. I get why it was implemented into the game but for someone like me who has played over 600 games, all of my players on my team are almost maxed out which means I'm possibly looking at large numbers of retirements. Considering I spent 6000 coins on about 10 players, it seems like all that work to gain the coins and pick my players is going to waste.

Personally, I wouldn't mind that instead of retirement that your players just goes back to level 1 and maybe his special abilities get switched out for different ones. That way I would have to learn to use the different abilities.

I actually wish that instead of the retirement thing, that the game implemented injuries instead. So maybe during a game I would lose a guy for 10 games or 20 games and the game would auto sub a crappy bronze player in their place if I didn't have a backup for that position. That would also mix up gameplay and keep it interesting because I wouldn't be able to use some of my better players due to them being out a certain amount of time or games.

We experimented with this concept, and its a solid one. Problem is that you create temporary inconveniences that keep the player from their favorite players then you end up managing injuries more than just worrying about your team. Next step you start offering iAP to heal your players and it starts feeling icky.

We tried several different systems to try and keep this year's game fresh as Jared aptly mentioned in today's article. We picked the retirement system because it maps directly back to way professional sports works. Payton Manning is great, but someday he is going to retire and make room for the next great player to take his place. This new player is going to have unique strengths and weaknesses that are different from Payton Manning. We felt that this will help keep the game fresh, while staying true the player's legacies and careers work in the NFL.

We will keep iterating on these ideas to see if we can find something that makes everyone happy.

I appreciate the concept of retiring players, it makes sense to me and think it could make the game more interesting. I will give you further thoughts once players I have retire..thanks for the advice on the controls, pro setting is going well for me so far

I have been enjoying the game so far but I have yet to see a gold player in the draft. Haha.. This is not a complain though.

None of my player retiring yet because I have been using my second strings to collect enough coins to build up a solid bench. Luckily I was hoarding players on the last iteration of the game. :)

I have been thinking about the retirement feature. The idea of providing incentives for player to try different cards is very solid and I appreciate this. The developer has been squishing their brains out to come up with so many new cards, so it would be a waste if we are only playing a selected set. It would be wasteful and the players won't have the full experience of the game.

However, the idea of levelling up the cards is so that we have a strongest set ready to play against tougher opponents and this will be especially important when the multiplayer comes around. It would be sad to spend so much time to get the optimum team only for the cards to be retiring in a couple of games. Which means that we won't be able to square off against our friends with our strongest set of cards.

Therefore, I would like to suggest this. Maybe make the retired players into a 'black' card or something. This card will still have reduced skill stats in the usual game modes but will be able to have their full stats when played in multiplayer mode. This way people will be able to use their best sets when playing in multiplayer while still have incentives to play with other cards in the other modes.

Also maybe add feature such that the players retirement count does not decrease when we play them in sudden death match. Because it will be such a shame to have your best player retired without having them played a full time game. Or otherwise, probably make so that the retired players can be used in their full skill stats in the sudden death match.

I would like other forum dwellers to offer their thoughts on my suggestions. But don't be too harsh :p.

The retirement system is just a way to make more money! Who wants to spend their time and money only to lose their best players? Make it an option to have different rosters and something if people want to freshen it up. It would be different if the game was a paid premium game instead of "free" with IAP. I like the game but I can't see many people liking the new retirement system, which seems to benefit you more than the consumer.

    Ouch!

I personally like the new retirement system. I enjoy having to solve the problem of finding a replacement player and looking through the free-agent list and opening decks.

Also, you never have to spend a dollar to get a replacement player. Every player in the game can be acquired for FREE!

The only thing that cannot be acquired for free is the Coin Doubler.

We have gone out of our way to ensure that the game is fair and fun. Sorry that you are not into it, wish you were.

Lots of great ideas. Really creative, thoughtful feedback. We will discuss these ideas tomorrow in the office.

We will make sure your players do not retire when they play Sudden Death games. That will be in the next build.

    Thank you

"Pushes" = Get out your wallet.

'Retirement system' just turns the whole game into consumable purchases, which is very player unfriendly. What's my incentive to earn/buy good cards when they now expire? Pay to win; deleted.

    Retired players

How do we know which players are ready to retired?

Also as mentioned above, I still cannot control my kicker after kick. :(

As soon as they reach their max XP level, the XP bar turns into a retirement countdown. I reached max XP on a gold Juggernaut TE and it told me 10 games until he retires. I think its kind of lame that I'm going to lose him soon, with very little chance to replace him with an equal quality player that he was. It also stinks that most of my good players are at a very high level and will all start to retire soon. My team rating will surely being going backwards soon. We'll see, but if it does, I think I may call it quits. I wish I didnt do any grinding prior to the update too.
