Thank you! I went and checked the code... The block to fold into is always the first in the list of adjacent blocks and the list is pre-determined... So in a way, the block to fold into is pre-determined but when there's more than one possible block there's no logic to it.
Just finished the main campaign (5 chapters) and was utterly surprised to discover this secret: Spoiler The game has a secret bonus chapter that can be unlocked by completing a hidden puzzle at "the end" (pun intended) of the game! Alas, there is also a severe bug on this screen. If you press the icon on the top right corner and then try to exit to select levels, the game locks up completely. Don't recall seeing this reported elsewhere or even promoted by the developer. Wow! This is awesome!

Just truly finished game (all puzzles). Very satisfying. The "final" (pun intended) chapter truly shows off how difficult the game's puzzles can get. These last puzzles are exceptional in that they are also very clever and require moves that are not initially obvious. Interestingly, the "final" puzzle ( Spoiler in the secret bonus chapter ) can be solved in two ways, one of which is a "cheat" because it requires the assembly of a shape that has more than two ends (in other words, not a line) and leverages a peculiar way that this shape is folded or collapsed. However, this "cheat" solution is also much more efficient (taking few moves) compared to the other one which is presumed to be the intended solution. Here is a screenshot of the game's ending credit scene, for those players who are curious: Highly recommend other players to play through the game to the end to truly experience the brilliance of the game's mechanics when they are all merged together. Definitely among the best logic puzzle games so far this year!
