I just bought Flip Riders. It's always great to see somebody stand behind their work. As for Bike Baron, I've found myself turned off by some aspects of their level design. When I was spending more time trying to tackle a certain speedbump or ramp than any other part, it lost its charm.
I have to say, Flip Riders is not much fun and I cannot even figure out _how_ to play it. I'm using the slider control, and apart from leaning 90 degrees in either direction (which will crash) I don't feel in control of the bike. There is nothing intuitive about playing this game. I seem to do better on a stage by doing nothing than by attempting to steer. Yet I can hit the same jump a dozen times and have a dozen different results. Often times it wall fall short, sometimes it will land just right and others overshoot by a significant amount. The grating thing about is I cannot even say why. The annoying part is when I have to redo an entire stage umpteen times because he keeps landing on helicopter blades through no assistance on my part, while I seem powerless to intervene. Everything feels arbitrary, and I feel something between helplessly out of sync with the character, wondering if I'm missing something, or perhaps the game really is that FUBAR. The Viewtiful Joe graphics are stylish and it _seems_ like the game has a lot going for it, but it's overall been a frustrating experience and I do regret buying it. I would strongly advise against it.
Bike Baron vs. Jet Car Stunts This will be an odd comparison for most. But apart from the obvious differences, there are quite a few similarities. For one, the level of challenge is higher than most average games. Bike Baron more than Jet Car Stunts, I would say. The one big difference for me is that I have not got sucked into getting golds for Jet Car Stunts. I am happy with bronze or silver. That's not because I think that it's a lesser game, or because I think Gold is that unachievable, but simply because the joy of playing a track with a reasonable level of performance is good enough for me. Also, getting through a track in less than 10 tries (for platforming) isn't that difficult. Bike Baron on the other hand doesn't give you easy stars. Like 5 crashes allowed. It's unforgivable in the tasks that it gives you, and yet I have developed OCD for 3-starring all the levels. I have a little way to go though. In the end, both are great games. PS: Any word on Jet Car Stunts 2?
wow.... kinda funny. I'm enjoying Flip Riders quite a bit more than Bike Baron. I love the difficulty, where as Bike Baron seems a bit too easy, and maybe it has something to do with me being a hardcore platformer fanatic, but Flip Riders has the memorization aspects that I love, as well as just having this incredibly fun and exciting gameplay that's partially missing from Bike Baron.
Uhhh, sorry if this sounds rude, but I'm kinda bored with these Bike Baron vs. threads(though only 2 have been made)... And I see your point, but the 2 games are different in many ways. 3D - 2.5D Car - Bike Racing - Trial biking But if you really wanna look at the comparisons, I'd say the fact that in both games you can do tricks is a similarity.
I didn't care for Jet Car Stunts, mainly because I found it frustrating and not so fun. Bike Baron I've been enjoying a lot except for the somewhat wonky physics and some of the hard levels having puzzle type things that at first seem impossible, but there's a trick that once you figure out how you are supposed to do it it's ridiculously trivial to accomplish, rather than actually being challenging. But yeah, I fail to see the point of this comparison.
Comparison probably doesn't matter. Just one of those trivial thoughts of an idle mind. Anyways, why I raised the point of comparison was because I felt these were two most punishing games on iOS. I also enjoy both these games. But my level of commitment for gold/three stars in Bike Baron is much higher. It's not as if I didn't realize that there was a car in one game and a bike in another, or the fact that one was a side scroller, and other a third-person driving... As i said, idle thoughts.
Please watch for the update next week. It includes a third control option (left/right buttons), checkpoints, better camera angles and many new stuff. We get it that some people find it frustrating to restart everytime. It plays differently now that we put in the checkpoints that our users have requested.
