Fling free and paid versions are now both in the top 10 in US+UK stores! :)

Its amazing what a free-version can do for an app (once it finally gets approved) - before the free-version was released, even when featured by Apple, Fling! never really took off as we saw, but with the free-version its just having an amazing run right now :)

Oh, and re the latest update - at the moment we're just releasing minor bug-fix updates ... there's a more significant update with bigger new features in progress, but that's still some time away and until then we'll just be doing occasional minor bug-fix updates.

    Congrats Candycane!

Curious as to where people that have gone through an addiction period topped out? Me = level 14 in unlock mode.

    Update 1.3.1 out!

Fling 1.3.1 represents the latest step in our continual evolution+improvement of Fling, with the main change being that Fling has been extended to 25 levels now (vs 19 before) to keep even the biggest Fling fans going. In fact, the puzzles, and the distribution of puzzles to levels, have been subtly tweaked+improved in this latest update.

Options have also been added to reset all your history / hi-scores / etc, and there are also some improvements in battery life while playing Fling.

All feedback is welcome :) For example, do you think we should keep improving Fling in this way, or move on to developing new games, like Fling 2?

Another note - its been great to see Fling back in the top 100 paid apps again this week! Seems that Fling was one of the benefactors of Apple's apparent rating system change.

Sorry to report that your update introduced some bugs. I have had some phantom ball type issues on my 3gs. All have been solvable in unlock mode by just hitting undo and going back to the beginning of the puzzle. However, if these same problems occur in arcade that would be bad.

Note that I havent played Fling! in quite a while, so I cant say for sure it was this update as opposed to a prior update.

Hi, can you explain what exactly the 'phantom ball' type issues were, and in what circumstances they came about? Its not something we've ever heard of / seen before in any version ...

Well, I got back to level 14 without it happening again, so maybe dont worry about it unless I can reproduce it or you hear about it from someone else. But what happened was that on one of the early levels on unlock mode (after I reset following update) I think I had a stray fling so I had to back up, and when I did one of the balls that was "reset" looked like it was there, back in its original spot, and it would generate a phantom ball if I tried to fling it,but I couldnt get it to really move. It was stuck.

On another note, my initial impression was that 1-13 is now slightly easier, but Im temporarily stuck at 14, so maybe its about the same I dont know.

Yeah, your impression is right - the levels do get harder a little slower now, so level 14 should be approximately like level 12-13 before, as we've found that users prefer this (otherwise they are more likely to get stuck at some point when it gets too hard for them, if its getting hard too quickly) ....

However, there's also much harder levels than existed before added to the end, so completing the whole game is harder (so far we have had a couple of dozen players out of over a million full-version users who have reported finishing all 19 levels).

Understand the rationale for spacing out the levels more, but it did sort of kill "easy" level arcade mode for me. It now is no longer really an "arcade" mode once you get moderately good. It just takes too long. It feels a lot more like unlock mode with hints.

Well, I guess its fine for "easy" level arcade mode to be for beginners, and not a place where intermediate/advanced players challenge themselves. As long as medium and hard are still fun (havent tried em lately), no worries :)

Working on trying to unlock 19 at the moment. I think I will get there, but probably get stuck on 19, since I started needing my skips at 15, and am feeling some real pain on 18.

How many levels are there now, 25 or did it go up to 30?

ArtNJ, regarding your question, good to hear its still providing you with a challenge, and yeah, it did go up to 30 with a recent update, but 30 is the limit, we won't be adding any more .... we wanted to make sure people who have a knack for these puzzles (and there are some who find them a lot easier than others - chess-masters or math wizzes probably) get a sufficient challenge for their dollar .... I guess if we were better game designers we might also find some way to give the users more of a sense of achievement for not just finishing all levels, but also for finishing say the first set of 10 or 20 levels, which is probably still a greater a achievement than finishing most games.

At least a couple of people have finished all 30 already though, so its by no means impossible - you can see where you stand with the latest 1.4.0 update which was approved just yesterday. It adds a leaderboard showing what levels people are up to in free-play (if they choose to be included on the leaderboard), as well adding 'friends' hi-scores lists - if you login to facebook, then you can view the scores of any facebook friends you have who also play Fling and did the same :)

Update with 4 new skins, you get 1 free (can pick) and DLC for the others. There is a new mode unlocked at level 20, or you can buy it.

If I recall right, I did get to level 20, which was about the limit of my ability. Will try to unlock and post impressions. However, it wont be easy or quick for me, as I am running into difficulty at level 14 already.

Unlocked the new mode. Took me at least 3 hours, as most of the puzzles from 16-19 took 5-10 minutes each. (Couldn't pay for something I could work for.)

Its level based, and you have two challenges: (1) getting rid of enough balls to clear the level before the board fills up; and (2) doing it fast enough to get a gold medal. Seems like a lot of fun.

This is one of my favorite puzzle games, but folks seem to have forgotten about it.

Candycane, not sure you are still checking this thread, but wanted to let you know that the medal times are off, such that its at least almost impossible to earn a bronze medal in the new mode. If your time is slow enough to get a bronze, you fail. I am on level 29 and I have failed numerous levels numerous times, but I have never, ever, earned a bronze medal. If I clear a level at all, I get at least silver. I am gold through about 14, and silver the rest of the way, with a lot more effort spent advancing than getting golds.

    Tips would be welcome.
