Not a fan of Devs doing this (making paid games free within the first 6 months) It just slaps the early adopters in the face.
You're not a fan of the dev trying to boost their marketing and keep their product alive in a pool of 65k + applications? Being an early adopter is a risk (having been an Apple early adopter for about 10 years). For those that don't have it, it's a no brainer...free, download and enjoy. I got it a while ago and it's easily worth a buck or two if you like this type of game.
This is still my favorite puzzle game. I dont mind it being free, I got more than my $1.99 worth by a factor of 20.
I should add that approval limbo is not uncommon, its happened to minigore episode 2 and at least one other app recently (cant recall the name). The developers its happened too agree, you have to keep pestering the crap out of apple to get an answer. Once its clear your in limbo, you cant just wait.
Wow, hope this move helps you guys in the long run I promise that was about buy Fling, it was the 2nd game on my "still to get list". Thanks and cheers CC.
Regarding application limbo - in our experience pestering Apple about it never got us further than templated generic answers .... things do get always eventually approved in our experience, there's just a large variation, plus sometimes you wait weeks only to get a rejection due to some quirky rule and are back to square one. And yeah, I hope users appreciate the deal in us giving this away for free for this short period, more than feeling annoyed if they paid $1/$2 for it ... I'd imagine this kind of thing is more annoying for developers - if too many developers were to give away quality apps for free it'd be hard to sell anything .... there's definitely a lot of competition out there, so the trend towards undercutting prices is hard to stop (one thing that might help is the new 'top grossing' list, so we all just have to find our own way of getting our apps noticed and making some money out of this thing.
Well, maybe the app store is getting worse. Minigore ep 2 was rejected...and the developer was not told. He only found out by pestering apple. My guess is that Fling light was rejected for some reason -- its been over a month now.
regarding the comment from 'iago' - actually 'mouse about' is a clone of this game - http://www.lexaloffle.com/neko.htm - I knew the author of this game 15 years ago when he had another version of it already which I used to enjoy ..... but that's a different game to Fling actually, you might want to give it a little more time to understand the differences
I forget whether the game has music. If it does, 3.1 broke it on my 3gs, just as 3.1 broke the music on minigore.
hey, thats good to know, as the game does indeed have music .... we'll have to test it on 3.1 obviously ... i take it a restart of the device doesn't fix these issues? the game actually has a mechanism for automatically disabling music if it thinks other music (ipod music) is already playing on start - when you go into settings (where you can change music volume) you would see a pop-up explaining this, if its disabled the music for that reason ...
Get it now while you can. I bought it early on and definitely feel I got my money's worth so don't really feel so badly it went for free if it can bring this to more and more people! So if its a great game at a couple bucks its a spectacular game for free! There are a couple of other games out there that have this same concept, however this game goes over and above them. Not to mention the balls are cute! I guess IRT the debate of whether you get a game and then the price drops for me its a personal choice. There are some games that I really want and want right NOW so I get them - whatever the price. There are others for whatever reason - playing too many games at the time, not TOTALLY committed to it so DO wait to see if there is a price drop etc, I wait and sometimes I get lucky and there is a price cut, or sometimes not and when I am ready to get the game I get it. Take Rolando 2 for example. I am still working on R1 and so when the sequel came out I was happy but knew that I was a bit away from getting it. Therefore I am happy its dropped its price but I bet that those that paid full price are happy they had the couple months of play time. I could be wrong though. Has been known to happen in the past!
A lot of free apps are crap but this one certainly isn't one of them. This game is a real deal. Thank you for the free offer!
Played a few stages. Very nice product; it feels polished, it has good music and visuals. After playing the Professor Layton games I'm pretty good at these type of puzzles.
