Does anyone know the price for these? Was thinking of maybe going on vacation there for a month of so. I wanna watch some Man Utd games =D Anyone have a clue how much the cheapest would be near manchester?
You're probably looking at holiday letting rather than a normal flat rental, that or seeing if you can find a short term let. Either way the prices are generally higher than the normal rental prices but they tend to be cheaper than hotels at least Had a quick look here.. http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/manchester/ and looks like £350 a week upwards depending on the time of year and the number of people staying there.
If you just want to go and watch football in Manchester, it would be fine. But as a place to stay, I wouldn't recommend it. It has it's nice parts, but much of it is pretty grim and there are loads of chavs who would probably start a fight with you, just for being a yank, lol. (sorry if anyone living in Manchester is offended by this, I just hate Manchester and Liverpool) South and South-West is nice. If you are going there for a month, I would recommend staying in the south where it is warmer and more like California. Nice beaches also. You could easy travel up to Manchester/Liverpool to watch some footy. England is so small! Just my 2 pence
I got to stay in downtown london for 2 months in 2004, it was amazing! Never got to see a football game though.. =(
hahaha, sorry, I had to pick up on that. I've never heard anyone compare the South of England to California before But yes, I would do what LBG said as Manchester, Liverpool Sheffield and all that industrial, traditionally poor working class part of England is certainly not pretty by any stretch. If you go a little further North things get better. Go to the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales or The North Yorkshire Moors (And whilst your there visit the Theakstons Brewery in Masham). At the other end in the South West go to Devon or Cornwall. In Cornwall you can surf if you're into that, though the waves are a bit smaller than where you come from If you can, I would suggest only going to Manchester for the match, and then get the hell out of there...
You know what I meant. Instead of being all industrial, the South West is sunnier and 'surfier'. It has some nice beaches, 'Booby Bay' being my favourite (yes, it really is called 'Booby Bay' ) for the big waves. Despite my poor knowlege on USA, I would describe Manchester being like Detroit.
Yeah, I knew what you meant. Just teasing 'Booby Bay'? Fantastic! Yes, we Brits really know how to name places: Pratts Bottom, Twatt, Titty Hill, Thong, Wetwang, Cockup, Shitterton.....I kid you not. But doing a quick google, I just discovered that there is a place in Austria called 'Fuc*ing', so i guess it could be worse
I live in the west midlands at the mo tho originally from just outside of london and the prices are pretty much the same all over tho slighty cheaper in the north... I'm like 50 miles from Manchester at the mo and pay £450 per month for a 2 bed house whilst i was paying £495 for a 1 bed flat down south.... Maybe you could check out the hostels cos they are generally cheaper tho a flat if you could get 1 for a month anywhere in the UK would cost anything from £350-£500 per month depending on location... As for watching Manchester...why would you wanna watch them for...lol...You should go watch my Spurs instead...Tho not as easy now for me to go watch them unless they play up north...Was easier when i was south ...Tho still get to see all there matches online so not too bad Like others have said tho England is small and easy to get to Manchester on the train from wherever you stay...Just over 4 hours or so from London...1.5 hours from where i am...If i had the room i coulda put you up for a bit but with a gf,me and 5 year old boy i aint got the room in a 2 bed house...sorry ...Sure you will like it over here tho wherever you stay and theres more to do than watching the footy tho i could do that everyday if i was allowed
