    I hope not!
I am so excited for this now.
Playing Fast and Furious has really wet my appetite.

Oh man I hope not! lol Looks like NFS is gonna beat RR to the store prob could cut into their sales a bit esp. if they release soon after.

No news on this game this whole month really makes me wonder. The game looks very complete by the videos so I cant imagine whats holding it up.

It's gonna kill their sales if they release this after NFS, which looks like that's gonna be the case.

    Yeah that's true.

Not many people who buy the NFS game are going to want to dish out more money for another car game soon after.

Plus people will go with name branding they've heard of before. EA and NFS

It's killing me waiting for Real Racing and NFS may have to take it's place for me to get my racing fix. Would much prefer RR though.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Even though i hate EA games so far on the iphone i am still craving a polished racer.... and which ever one of the two lands first will end up being the one i get.

    EA Need For Speed

Whoever wins, Gameloft loses (for now anyway).

  9. I'm glad to see there's no dedicated drifting tracks in the game. Not a big fan of drifting.

Personally, I'd pick RR over NFS, because I don't like NFS, but the majority of racing gamers probably would go for NFS first. Hopefully RR either comes out first or does better, because Firemint deserves to succeed.

I think they are still set for an april release, but no doubt they will extend it. I guess early-mid may. At least they are taking a lot of time on the game and not just ignoring any problems or weaknesses and publishing it anyway. Should be good, but I want a bike racing game because I love bikes, not cars. iSBK or Pocket MotoGP is what I want ;D

    Yeah sure :p

Gameloft has made tousands or maybe millions with Ferrari GT and Asphalt4Elite, also Ferrari GT has one of the best graphics avayable on iPhone yet, I don't know if Nfs can match those fantastic light effects, detailed (and different!) street textures (Fastlane loses completely in this thing btw), and good designed landscape/buildings.

Yes there will be some city type tracks, although I think the actual race track is, well, race track like. As opposed to street tracks like in NFS, Fast&Furious etc. But remember this is a racing sim, not a street racer, so expect lots of race tracks.

It's a real shame that there is no news of a release, or even submission, so close to the end of April :(

    Firemint Real Racing Release Date

It is becoming increasingly apparent to us (the team at Firemint) that Firemint Real Racing will not release before the end of April.

Even if we submit the game on Monday, it will need to go through approvals before it will be available to purchase.

We have previously stated that we expected the game to be out in April (without qualification), then at GDC back in mid March we said late April. I had still been hoping we could hit that date, but now it's time to recognise that we won't, and give you all an update while we still have some days left in the month.

    WHY IS IT DELAYED?

There are actually numerous reasons, none of them are due to us not wanting to get the game out.

The primary reason is that we are not 100% happy with it yet. Every time we evaluate a version of the game that we think might be "the one", we find something that we think is important to improve.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US?

Every day that we delay the release of Firemint Real Racing we spend more money and resources on it (I believe it is the biggest development budget ever for an iPhone game). At the same time we reduce our potential sales. In addition to that we let down people who were expecting the game to be out late April, as announced. The temptation to just release it is enormous.

The only way to win from delaying a release is to make sure the game is so good that people don't care in the end, and all is forgiven. That remains our focus.

SO WHEN WILL IT COME OUT?

There is tremendous pressure on me from many directions to state a release date. All I will say is that this game looks finished, it has looked finished for quite some time. It feels very close now.

WHY ARE WE ANNOUNCING THIS ON THE TOUCH ARCADE FORUM?

Because many of you are asking about it. Here we can quickly and easily talk directly to you and see your feedback. We would have said something sooner, but it really looked like we might still release in April.

ONE LAST THING I WANTED TO SAY

Many industry experts, including Arn, have seen and played this game and offered extremely positive previews. The game is very real and I am incredibly proud of what our team has achieved already. I can't wait to hear what you all think of it when it's out!

Can you talk about a few of the elements that caused the delay? Are they gameplay features, bug fixes or overall polishing?
