Oh man the horrors of being forced to watch these. I remember back in PSX I had it so Cloud could summon Knights of the Round twice in a row then Tifa would follow up with a mimic that would summon it again (I think just once though, not twice). Sitting through that every now and then sucked, but the damage done was second to none.
I might actually play this, now that I can spam my way through it without getting stopped all the time. Does anyone know how long the game is if you run through with encounters turned off?
You will still need to level your players but you don't need to go crazy the ability to turn off encounters makes the game fun
Well, unless he turns the max stats option on. Then he wouldn't need to level at all! But I haven't done that because once you do it, you can't turn it off.
It's a great game it's not a perfect port but glad I can play it on the GO. On the last parts of the game now and have enjoyed playing this. I just beat this game best entertainment for morning commute. Just in time for FF9 release
HUGE UPDATE! Apparently the mini games have gotten rearranged buttons / enlarged buttons. This is actually one of the biggest changes you can make that a basic emulator can't really do (without a bunch of constant tweaking). Can someone further in the game check these out and see how they fare? Hopefully it's not just my hype speaking.
I made a quick video of the Speed Square. The controls are much besser now (touch the screen to shoot), but it's still not perfect. At least getting a score of 5000 is possible now. The G Bike minigame looks like this.
Excited for FF9! It has the max level and Max Gil but it's separate buttons instead max everything like 7.
How is the save system? Is it mobile friendly? Or does it force a half hour of playtime between fixed save points?
The save system on VII is exactly like the original save system on VII. You can save at save points or on the world map. That's it. If it crashes or you leave it running in the background and run out of RAM, you'll be playing through stuff again. It doesn't have the auto-save/continue feature that was put into IX.
I found quite a few saves were easy! Plus you can save everywhere on the world map. I beat the game and that's by playing on the train since August.
I was wondering if this would run ok on a iPod 5. I know it is not in the recommended list but is it possible to play this on the iPod 5?
Anybody know why Final Fantasy VIII was skipped over during the remakes of all these Final Fantasy games? I enjoyed that one as well and was wondering why they didnt remake it.
From what i read before, it's a technical issue where a lot of work is required to get FF8 down to Apple's file size requirement, that releasing FF9 was more viable than 8 for the time being.
