finished the game and should say even with some technical and ui problems this game is worth its price. there is really a lot of good content. i won't call this game as one of the best games or something special, maybe it was for console players, because in therms of strategy there were better games for pc. The game is also a bit unbalanced, if you play all quests normally, without grinding, most of chars are just not as good as some guests or story characters. basically at the end of the game only 2 ninjas could somehow compete with characters you get in the chapter 4. therefore the final battles are very easy. also some abilities are overpowered. but the story became really better and was not so plain like in the beginning of the game, very pleasant surprise. some hardcore gamers can grind and there are probably a lot of fun trying different jobs and abilities combinations. i dont really like other SE jrpg titles but this game is very good.
You know, changing that one in-battle menu setting for the touch controls really has made a world of difference. My only true gripe is the camera. But this is FFT. It's ALWAYS had a dodgy camera. The touch controls are good and bad. Basic rotation is more of a chore, but I can find a sweet spot in a pinch than I could in other versions. I think this thing is unplayable with default settings.
Updates out ■ Important information Your auto-save data will be erased when you update. Please use the normal save function before performing the update. [About version 1.0.1] The following changes were implemented. -Fixed a bug that caused frequent crashes when run on iPhone 4S. -Improved camera controls during battle. -Other minor bugs addressed. This version is aimed at quickly fixing a serious bug. Updates to improve user experience, beginning with Retina support, are planned for the future. We appreciate your patience.
Well, not that I am eager, I guess since the promised (about 1 month after iPhone version release) iPad version is still AWOL, I would not hold my hopes up.
For what it's worth, this update seems to have fixed the issues that this game had when playing in 2X mode on the iPad. I've managed to pass the first mission, where before it always crashed just at the end of it. Now just to figure out how to get my save across

Improved camera controls were actually way higher on my wishlist than retina graphics, which im hoping that when they come, wont come with slow-down and ram issues. Gonna check to see if they made a big enough improvement than i wanna get back into the game..
Absolutely agree. The janky camera and performance were what made this almost impossible for me to enjoy previously. Don't really care about RD for this game. Anyway, it was worth a re-install to see if that stuff really makes the difference. Going to go check now. Add: Seems to run a lot better now, and the camera does indeed control better! I am starting over, so I'm not sure how it will do on the larger maps, but for now it seems much more responsive and smooth. Very nice. Time to give this game another shot.
Perhaps I've grown a tad cynical in regards to large gaming companies, but I am just glad they support the title at all Improved performance and camera controls are an essential update, but future Retina support is far more than I ever expected from Square (Which might be a tad unfair, as they, by now, are probably one of the more supportive and active AAA companies in iOS game development. Still a very distant cry from many indie devs, though...)
Only had time to play a little while since the update but this sums up the update very nicely. Now I'm only struggling with 'fat-fingering' the menu choices. Once that's improved my complaints about the game are all resolved. The camera improvement alone is enough to get me playing again.
The update has managed to fix the slowdown, somewhat. However, the save file I have left is quite still early in the game (Already deleted the game after finishing it, so I am unable to test the effects-heavy skills). The camera fix is really nice though.
I'm confused Okay so I have FFT for my iPod 4 not 4s And I have looked at very many job sights and trees but I do what it says and I can't unlock the samurai ,ninja, mime, onion knight, and bard it's really frustrating me because I want the samurai because it has a high attack rating I have knight level 8 monk level 8 and geomancer level 8 mastered and I don't have ninja or samurai will someone help me ...(sorry if any spelling errors)
1.1 is out - Retina Display support. - Various assets such as facial graphics and icons to accompany in the increased resolution have been created. - Other minot bug fixes - The Auto-save data will be erased when you update. Please use the normal save function before performing the update.
yep, it looks great and text is perfect readable but it sucks that it was not released with already retina enabled graphics. maybe they can do it also with secret of mana or chrono trigger, that would be nice.
Wow. Square are doing such a good job that I almost dare start to hope for asynchronous multiplayer No. I don't. Not almost. But in some distant fantasy, perhaps. Anyways, any screenshots of retina rez in FFT floating about?
