So should I wait for an iPad release, or is that not coming anytime soon? More curious about how good/bad it looks and runs at 2x on iPad 2.
It will not play on the iPad and it states in the app description that it won't run on the iPad. So unless you feel like spending $16 on a game that will definitely crash, I'd suggest you wait.
I'm running this on an iPad 2. It looks about how I expected, similar to the ps1 version on a CRT. Not bad, just dated. While you can run it on iPad, I'm not sure I would recommend it. It does run faster than my phone (3GS) but it suffers from an occasional random crash. Sometimes it'll happen after you tweak your equipment and you'll lose all your changes, then have to go back and do it again. Overall, it works, but that crashing makes it difficult to justify the iPhone version on the iPad.
Is it worth it to work your way up to the Onion Knight? I'm early in the game right now, just building up my Knight and Archer and wondering what jobs would be good to work up to for the long haul.
Onion knight is not that useful until you get the Spoiler Onion Items After you beat the final boss but even then they're not the strongest of characters. Just hit about 50hrs- Finished Midlight's Deep (Deep Dungeon) but did cheat a little and use a guide- Believe me, when you get there, you'll crave the Faqs I am currently training my characters into dark knights, Mimes and Trying to level up my onion knight job by mastering the other classes. Still think I could spend another 20+ hrs on this and finding other cool items from poaches/ treasure hunter
My Active Turn button is grayed out and unusable during battles. What setting in options do I change?
For some reason I had that button disappear entirely every now and then. First I tried fiddling with options but later I noticed it still appeared and disappeared no matter what I did. As a workaround to this I used to scroll right on the spells list to get an AT list where the casted spell timing was shown. EDIT: Few times I think I had it grayed out. Have you tried tapping Cancel button until you had no unit selected? It should make the button active.
they should add a possibility to skip scenes before battles, because some of them are quite long and if you need to repeat them, then it is just so annoying to press this f ok button again and again.
Onion equipment Okay I'm confused. I have played this game a bunch before but obviously not on iOS. How do you get the onion equipment? All the guides online are for psp or psx. I tried asking SE Facebook no response. It looks like a few posts back someone mentioned you get them from beating the game? But there is no new game plus so that seems improbable does anyone know? If you could enlighten me I'd be grateful
Spoiler There is no new game plus so make sure you have a save from before you enter the final sequence of battles. When you beat the game, it will say new items added to poachers den. Then visit the poachers den in your old save and the onion equipment will be there, along with some of the best items in the game
Game Impressions Just ended the game. HANDS DOWN the best game I ever played on iOS and probably one of the best games I ever played, if not the best (Ultima 7:The Black Gate was my all time favorite). I loved everything about it, everything. The story is magistrally told and perfectly crafted. It's the first time in YEARS I put so many hours in a game (the last one was Oblivion), and I must say, being a bit obsessed with this game, I LOVED the convience of having it on my iPhone (where, imho, it's simply perfect). Ended the game at about 43 hours in game. Some questions...where is the final savegame the game told it saved? I want to see the ending movie again...is that possible? The only thing I missed were the last 5 floors of the special southern dungeon, but I was too curious to see the story (completed every side quest I was aware of, and gathered all the PCs). As soon as I find this final save I'll continue the dungeon. Now...something and this good similar to play?
The fact it was the last one I put over 20 hours in, wasn't implying it was a masterpiece. I didn't wrote it to compare them really, they are really different (and, while I found it enjoyable, I generally hate freeform RPGs). I feel stupid but I stll can't find that 'final' savegame...any help? BTW, does anyone know if FFT OST exists? I cannot find it on sale either.
Sure, played, finished and enjoyed all of them (BG 'trilogy', IWD incarnations of the Infinity Engine, Torment...). I loved the first BG especially, and I have still fond memories about Sarevok. I had even the privilege to interview many Bioware devs (from Ray Myzuka to Trent Oster) in the course of the years (many years ago). The last game I played from Bioware was Mass Effect...and from BIS, hmmm, maybe IWD2.
if you have a gameboy advance, or a DS lite/Phat you could play Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which is a different game with slightly different job mechanics.
